Kevin Federline and his family are safe in Hawaii amid the raging fires on Maui that have claimed the lives of at least 55 and displaced thousands of residents and tourists.

It looks like Britney Spears may be open to reconnecting with her mother.
Lynne Spears was spotted arriving for a visit with the pop star on Wednesday, first touching down at Los Angeles International Airport before she was driven to the home of Britney’s manager, Cade Hudson. From there, Lynne took an Uber to Britney’s home. Afterward, Britney and her husband, Sam Asghari, were seen leaving the house and driving around for another 30 minutes before returning home.
A source tells Et, “Lynne flew to L.A. to see Britney and they caught up at her home. Sam was also there.”
The relationship between Britney and Lynne has appeared strained in recent years, brought to light amid Britney’s highly publicized conservatorship battle in 2021.
Last October, Lynne issued a public plea to her daughter to have a conversation about their history.
“I’m sooo sorry for your pain! I have been sorry for years!

On June 29, the 43-year-old made a statement to People via his attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan in response to Britney's June 23 conservatorship hearing. The kids love their mother and he wants there to be a healthy and strong relationship."
Mark added that he felt that "Britney has not been served well by the conservatorship and it's not consistent with what she wants. I think that she should be able to challenge that.

Latest: Pop star Britney Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline reunited in court on Tuesday to discuss the custody status of their two young children.
The former couple has been locked in a custody battle over sons Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, since their split in November 2006.
Spears, 26, is reportedly seeking to revise her current visitation schedule - which allows her monitored visits with the children three times weekly, according to People.com.
The pop star was seen entering the court with her father, Jamie, who remains conservator of her legal and financial affairs until next month's hearing.
Spears is said to have rehired former lawyer Laura Wasser in a bid to regain joint custody of her two young sons.
Wasser, who resigned as the star's legal counsel last year, was seen entering the courtroom along with a lawyer working for Spears' conservatorship.
Federline's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan tells People.com, "Our goal is to settle what we can without a trial to achieve what's in the best interest of the children. But whatever can't be resolved with a private mediator will be brought to trial."
The pair will face a custody trial in August if they are unable to reach an agreement out of court.
Spears was initially awarded joint custody of her sons following the breakdown of her marriage, but she was stripped of the privilege earlier this year after she was committed to a psychiatric facility to treat an alleged bi-polar disorder.

Britney Spears has been ordered to pay her ex-husband Kevin Federline's lawyer $375,000 (GBP187,500) in legal fees.
Attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan was asking for $500,000 (GBP250,000) for his part in the pop star's custody fight with her ex, but Los Angeles Commissioner Scott Gordon slashed that figure, agreeing Spears should pay her former husband's "reasonable" fees.
In a hearing in Los Angeles on Monday morning, Spears' lawyers called the settlement outrageous, according to Tmz.com.
In the court order, obtained by the website, Spears' legal payments have been disclosed, showing her former lawyer, Laura Wasser, charged the singer over $160,000 (GBP80,000) in legal fees, while legal firm Trope + Trope, who represented Spears in her custody battle for five months, are asking for more than $680,000 (GBP340,000) in fees.
Meanwhile, in a concurrent hearing, Andrew Wallet - the co-conservator of Spears' estate - was granted permission to sell some of the singer's cars.

Presiding Judge Reva Goetz also extended the restraining order against Spears' former manager Sam Lutfi for another month.

Britney Spears has been ordered to pay $375,000 of Kevin Federline's legal bills, according to court documents released Monday. Los Angeles Court Commissioner Scott Gordon called the legal billing "reasonable," in large part because "the actions of [Spears] caused the great majority of litigation." Last week, the pop star's lawyer, Stacy Phillips, complained that Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, had over-charged Spears, and asked that Federline be ordered to contribute to his own legal bills in the former couple's ongoing custody case. Citing Federline's tip of $2,000 on a recent $365 dining tab, Phillips contended that Federline could afford to help pay "for...

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's lawyers are battling in court over the former dancer's legal fees from their bitter custody battle.
Spears' new lawyer Stacy Phillips is angry Federline's representative and the pop star's former legal firm Trope + Trope have racked up bills of $900,000 (GBP450,00) in just four months - fees Spears has been ordered to pay herself.
Phillips claims Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan's fees are excessive - and that Federline can afford to pay his fees himself.
She also accuses Federline of failing to separate business and personal expenses, and claims his ex-girlfriend and mother of his other two children, Shar Jackson, has access to his business credit card which she uses for personal purposes.
Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon, who is presiding over the case, plans to take time to consider the issue of fees.
Spears and Federline are currently battling over custody of their two sons: Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one. Federline currently has full custody of the kids.

Still sporting a Mohawk, and wearing a dark gray suit, Federline arrived looking trim. Seated in the front row of the courtroom, he chatted with Jamie Spears, who was in the second row, as they waited for the judge to take the bench. Britney Spears's father, Jamie Spears, is expected to join attorneys appearing before a Los Angeles family law judge on Monday, to complain that the lawyer for her ex, Kevin Federline, has overcharged the pop star. Sources say Britney's new custody attorney, Stacy Phillips, will dispute a $500,000 tab from K-Fed attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, as well as a $600,000 bill from Britney's previous custody attorney, Sorrell Trope. The main agenda item, however, will be the invoice from Kaplan, who, according to sources, was deposed on the matter last week, as was Kaplan's former spokesman. Elliot Mintz, a new spokesman for Kaplan,...

Kevin Federline can afford to "take responsibility" for some of his own legal fees, an attorney for Britney Spears said in court Monday. The pop star's lawyer, Stacy Phillips, asked Federline to contribute to his own legal bills in the former couple's ongoing custody case. Citing Federline's tip of $2,000 on a recent $365 dining tab, Phillips contended that Federline can afford to help pay "for the diligent work being done on his behalf." Currently Spears is responsible for paying her ex-husband's legal fees, including $405,000 owed to Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan. Phillips further argued that it was inappropriate for Kaplan and...

Britney Spears' father Jamie is furious at the amount of legal fees his daughter's custody fight with ex-husband Kevin Federline has garnered - and is planning to contest the $1.1 million (GBP550,000) invoice at a court hearing next week (begs10Mar08).
Jamie Spears was appointed conservator of the pop star's legal and financial affairs in February and is in charge of her estate - with court-appointed observer Andrew Wallet - until 31 July, after he was granted an extension on Wednesday.
But Jamie is reportedly disputing the high attorneys' fees he has been billed for - $500,000 (GBP250,000) from Federline's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, and more than $600,000 (GBP300,000) from Britney's representatives Trope and Trope - for work carried out in the last five months, from October to February.
According to Tmz.com, Jamie has filed documents with Los Angeles Superior Court to challenge the invoice and a hearing is set to take place on Monday - on the same day Spears is due to face her ex in a child custody/visitation case.

Britney Spears has finally arrived at lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan's Los Angeles office for an ongoing deposition in her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline. The pop star has missed a string of appointments for the court-ordered cross examination with Federline's attorney, but made sure to turn up for the latest meeting on Monday morning. This comes a week after the singer failed to appear for a custody hearing in a Los Angeles court. Wearing jeans and a dark blue top, Spears was escorted to the deposition by companion Sam Lutfi. The singer is expected to face questions about her drug and alcohol use and her parenting skills. Kaplan plans to use testimony from Spears and other key witnesses to convince Los Angeles Commissioner Scott Gordon that his client, Federline, should retain primary physical custody of his two young sons with the pop star. Spears has been stripped of all custody and visitation rights following a string of ill-advised incidents. A custody trial is set for April.

Britney Spears was handed a temporary restraining order following a stand-off with police at her Los Angeles home last week, it has emerged. Officers from the Los Angeles police department enforced the emergency protective order to "stabilize the situation," according to her ex husband Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan. But he denies Federline requested the order after Spears was hospitalized following her public breakdown. He tells People.com, "Kevin doesn't want to keep his kids from being involved in (Spears's) life. But foremost is that the kids be in an environment of structure (and) stability. The next goal is to get things to a point where both parents are able to participate fully in their (children's) lives." Police spokesman Mike Lopez says, "The person it's placed upon would have to stay approximately 100 feet from the other person, or face arrest. In most cases, it's issued by officers when there's the possibility of imminent and immediate danger to the victim." Spears hit the headlines last week after a three-hour stand off at her Beverly Hills home when she refused to give her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, back to Federline.

Kevin Federline's lawyer has openly blasted Britney Spears, claiming her no-show at a deposition earlier this week could land her behind bars. Mark Vincent Kaplan isn't accepting Spears' excuse she was too ill to attend the court-ordered child custody-related meeting at the attorney's Los Angeles office - and urges her to behave more responsibly. He says, "It's not like the fourth grade where you get a doctor's note and it's all OK. If you don't obey a court order, you can be held in contempt, but we're not really interested in punishing her. We're interested in getting facts and information that are inconsistent with her position or consistent with my client's position." Though much of the custody battle remains unsure, Kaplan insists one thing that is decided is where Federline and Spears' sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, will spend Christmas. He adds, "Kevin would like the children to be able to experience Christmas, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day with both himself, as well as their mom, and arrangements have been made for a schedule we believe will accommodate them."...

Britney Spears has been photographed out and about in Los Angeles in the early hours of Thursday morning - after insisting she was too ill to attend her court-ordered deposition. The pop star was expected to give her deposition in her ongoing custody trial at the Los Angeles offices of her ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan at 10am on Wednesday morning. But she failed to show up and Kaplan was told that she had a "general (medical) condition," meaning she could not attend. However, the 26-year-old was pictured leaving The Four Seasons Hotel in L.A. with her assistant just before 2am on Thursday morning, according to Tmz.com. A new date for Spears' deposition has been chosen, but not made public.

An illness prevented Britney Spears from attending a court-ordered deposition in her ongoing custody trial on Wednesday morning. The Toxic singer was expected to give her deposition under oath at the Los Angeles offices of her ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan at 10am. When Spears failed to show up, the lawyer was forced to start without her, taking testimony from the singer's former assistant Alli Sims and ex-manager Larry Rudolph, among others. Kaplan says, "I was told of a general (medical) condition, and Spears felt she couldn't attend." A new date for Spears' deposition has been chosen, but not made public. Sims and Rudolph were both served subpoenas by Kaplan earlier this year. The attorney hopes to determine whether Spears drinks alcohol or uses drugs in front of her young children.

Britney Spears will finally testify in her ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline on Wednesday. The troubled pop star is expected give her deposition under oath at the Los Angeles offices of Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, at 10am. Spears will be accompanied to the meeting by her lawyers Anne Kiley and Tara Scott, who will be present to raise any objections they may have to Kaplan's line of questioning. He is expected to quiz Spears on a variety of topics, including spousal support, relating to the custody of sons Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one. Spears lost physical custody of the boys in October after concerns were raised about the singer's qualities as a mother. The deposition is in itself a small victory for Federline - Kaplan has been calling for Spears to testify for almost a year, according to Tmz.com.

Britney Spears has been banned from driving with her young sons in the same car after her ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney called an emergency court hearing to question her road skills. Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled two-year-old Sean Preston and his younger brother Jayden James can no longer hit the roads of Hollywood with their mum after a closed-door, 90-minute hearing in Los Angeles on Friday morning. Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline's lawyer, called for the hearing after Spears was caught on tape running a red light with her two children in the back seat. The new order is the latest blow for Spears in her custody battle. She was stripped of physical custody of the boys last month. The singer and Federline are expected back in court on November 26.

Kevin Federline has requested an emergency meeting with Britney Spears' lawyers after a videotape emerged of her driving through a red light with her two sons in the car. Federline's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan says his client is concerned over the safety of the couple's sons Sean Preston and Jayden James after previously insisting the singer not be allowed to drive when with the children. Kaplan is also expected to discuss media reports the hitmaker tested positive for amphetamines during the meeting with Spears' lawyer on Friday. According to website Tmz.com, asthma sufferer Spears will claim the positive drug test was caused by her inhaler. Spears' attorney Sorrell Trope refused to comment on the alleged failed drugs test, but maintains the latest traffic offence will not jeopardize her custody battle. Trope tells People.com, "Ms. Spears was being mobbed by paparazzi at the time. She was distracted. This was not blatant irresponsible driving on her part."...

Britney Spears ignored eight random drug test requests, according to her ex Kevin Federline's attorney. The dancer's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, made the allegations in an emergency hearing he had called in Los Angeles on Thursday to discuss the former couple's ongoing custody battle. Neither Spears nor Federline - who has been granted custody of their two boys - appeared in court for the last-minute meeting. Under the latest court ruling, Spears is allowed to see her boys - Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one - three times a week, but must follow an earlier court order to undergo mandatory drug and alcohol tests and well as attend joint parenting sessions with dancer Federline. But Kaplan claims Spears has violated the court drug test order by ignoring eight out of a total of 14 requests and lives in a "parallel universe". He also told the court, "Mr. Federline doesn't want to take these children out of their mother's life, but what are we to do?" However, Spears' new lawyer, Anne Kiley, has defended the star's actions and branded the drug testing procedure "unconstitutional," claiming a missed test does not indicate a positive one. And Kiley also hit back at Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon when he said the early morning requests for the tests were not "unreasonable." But Kiley claimed superstars like Spears were not used to being woken up at 8am, retorting: "You are not a pop star with a number one album, so you don't know." If Spears is proved to have violated the drug-testing procedures, she faces having her visitation rights suspended until she follows the court order. The hearing continues.

Britney Spears has lost the right to see her two children after breaching a court order. Los Angeles County Commissioner Scott Gordon suspended her visitation rights after an emergency meeting with Kevin Federline's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan on Wednesday. Gordon - who ordered Spears to undergo random drugs testing at an earlier ruling - made the decision after the singer failed to provide the court with her contact information. The order, obtained by website Tmz.com, reads, "Petitioner's (Britney's) visitation with the minor children is suspended pending Petitioner's compliance with the court orders." Spears lost physical custody of her son's Sean Preston, two, and Jayden James, one, on October 11, but was granted one overnight visit a week in a court ruling. She is due to appear in court on October 26.

Britney Spears has lost physical custody of her sons. Los Angeles County judge Scott Gordon ruled minutes ago that Sean Preston and Jayden James's father Kevin Federline will retain full custody from October 3. The news comes after Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, presented his client's case in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday morning. Reports suggest Kaplan raised concerns about Spears' qualities as a mother after she was spotted driving without a license over the weekend while her children were in the car. Insiders claim Kaplan also brought up Spears' driving without a license charge from August 6, when she was involved in an alleged hit-and-run motoring offence after crashing into a parked car in the San Fernando Valley. The emergency hearing lasted an hour and took place behind closed doors. The shocking outcome follows two weeks of bizarre Spears behavior, which includes sightings of the pop singer partying and sobbing in the street, and an incident where she invited a member of the paparazzi to join her in a sandwich shop toilet in Los Angeles. Judge Gordon initially ruled the couple would continue to share custody for the duration of their new court battle. Meanwhile, Spears could face more legal trouble if she fails a court-ordered, random drug test, administered twice weekly.

Troubled pop star Britney Spears is set to fire the new lawyer in her custody battle - after just one day in the job. The hitmaker is currently embroiled in a bitter battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline over the care of their two sons Sean Preston, two, and one-year-old Jayden James. Spears' lawyer Laura Wasser quit on Monday with reports suggesting the attorney found the star a "problem client." Melvin Goldsman was named as Wasser's replacement on Tuesday, but Spears is considering firing him, according to high-profile divorce lawyer Sorrell Trope. Trope claims he has been chosen as Goldsman's replacement. He tells People.com, "Yes, it's true Ms. Spears quit Melvin Goldsman's firm, but we haven't been officially retained yet. The paperwork has not been signed, and it has to have our firm's, Goldsman's, and Ms. Spears's signatures. I anticipate it will be signed on (Wednesday)." Meanwhile, Federline is "happy" with the judge Scott Gordon's decision to order Spears to undergo twice-weekly random drugs testing after he raised concern about the singer's apparent "habitual, frequent, and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol." Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan tells People.com, "It would appear the court wanted to stabilize the status quo, but also implement orders that give as much protection to the kids until the court has the benefit of the ... evaluations. Kevin is happy the case is moving forward in a positive direction."...

Britney Spears has held an emergency meeting with her ex-husband Kevin Federline in a bid to resolve custody issues over their children, according to reports. The singer organized the meeting with Federline and his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan on Wednesday - their son Jayden's first birthday. They arrived separately at the Century City, Los Angeles, offices of Spears's lawyer Laura Wasser, just five days before they are due to face each other before a family court judge on Monday. However, the meeting didn't go as planned - Federline turned down the star's proposals. A source says, "Britney asked for (the meeting) She wants to put an end to this public debacle. However, Kevin (has) refused. He needs more money so he's determined to win this." But a source close to Federline tells People.com, "He's not going for additional child support in the court papers that were filed. It's not about the money." Federline currently receives $20,000 a month from Spears's $737,868 income, but has "no net income after business expenses," according to court documents released on August 30.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's custody battle is heating up - an allegation of child abuse is to be investigated. Legal sources tell website Tmz.com Federline's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan filed legal papers on Monday, which mentions a investigation by the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) concerning the parenting to Sean Preston, 23 months; and Jayden James, 11 months. Tmz reports the court files allege the children have poor dental hygiene and bad eating and sleeping habits. An anonymous complaint about either Federline or Spears was reportedly filed with the DCFS in July 2, but was not followed up with an investigation. Last year the couple were investigated twice by the DCFS after Spears was photographed driving with Sean Preston on her lap and then two months later when the tot fell out of his high chair at their Malibu, California home. TV show Access Hollywood said the child abuse allegations have become the primary matter in the couple's custody battle. The couple's divorce was finalized last month with both parties agreeing to joint custody of the boys. However, Federline is now seeking full custody following Spears' recent erratic behavior.
