Part one of The Freelancer must be one of the most riveting thrillers to have come out of Disney+ Hotstar. This Neeraj Pandey venture is all about action and the politics of the religion that has engulfed a certain part of the Middle Eastern region. There is a lot uncovered by the makers of the show in the first part about radical and moderate Islamists and how these ideologically different groups of the same faith operate. Besides all the above, it was about saving a young woman named Aliya who was forced by her husband’s family to live in Isis-occupied Syria.
The first part of The Freelancer ended with Aliya’s brother and sister-in-law blowing themselves up inside a crowded medina. Aliya was soon able to fathom the brutality with which Isis operated. Aliya is yet to be rescued by Avinash, along with the assistance of the CIA, but...

Her father, Inayat Khan, was one of the toughest cops with the Mumbai Police but was removed from his post along with Avinash Kamath for gross misconduct while on duty. The Freelancer, the Disney+ Hotstar original, is a Neeraj Pandey creation that brings a lot of topics regarding international politics and radical Islam to the forefront. One of the leading characters of the show is Avinash Kamath, who has led a roller coaster of a life that has taken him to many parts of the world.
Spoilers Ahead
Avinash Kamath is introduced as a private mercenary who takes up contractual work from various governments or their intelligence agencies and carries out hit jobs without making a lot of noise. Avinash operates from Tangiers, Morocco with the help of his “M”-like boss, Professor Khan, who connects him to contacts from across the globe. The man seems to be earning well and, for a long time, has remained under the radar. His team would include people from across the world and some from India, who, just like him, are military-trained men.

Neeraj Pandey’s The Freelancer, the brand-new action thriller web series, takes us through a war-torn Syria, which has become one of the most hostile regions of the world. The premise for the thriller series has been adapted from Shirish Thorat’s popular book, A Ticket to Syria. The biggest giveaway here is the nature of the genre. On the surface, The Freelancer is a rescue mission, but at its core, it takes us through the lawlessness of a particular region of the country and the rampant radicalization happening in the name of religion. The tense visuals, coupled with hardcore action sequences, add to the grittiness of the narrative presented in the trailer.

Actress Kashmira Pardeshi has decoded her drill for the preparation of her intensely layered character, Aliya in the riveting thriller ‘The Freelancer’, and shared how she slipped into the skin of her character. Talking about the preparation for her role as Aliya, Kashmira said: “So, the script is based on the book ‘Ticket to Syria’. But I read the book much later as I was asked not to read the book. I even personally believe that a well written script will have everything that an actor needs.”
“But to prepare for the character, I watched a lot of documentaries made on families that have faced this. On girls that have voluntarily fled to Syria, or that have been abducted and taken there. I read about Sushmita Banerjee, a Kabuliwala’s wife and referred to a lot of Malala stories which were really very inspiring,” she shared.

Model-turned-actor Navneet Malik has opened up on what he dislikes about the showbiz, saying there should be a system where artistes with potential can reach out to the casting directors, and vice-versa. Navneet will be soon seen playing the negative lead in the thriller series ‘The Freelancer’.
The actor who is known for his role in ‘Heropanti 2’, said: “What I like about this industry right now is people are not bounding any actor into certain roles, whether it’s positive or negative. They accept them in different roles and characters. That’s the good part of this industry.”
He further shared: “I dislike that whatever roles that are coming in the industry are not reaching to the potential people, like there are thousands of deserving and experienced people.”

The award-winning script for Still has successfully completed its crowdfunding campaign on Seed & Spark with a final amount raised of $18,682.
Production for Still is scheduled to begin end of May 2023. The film stars Rakefet Abergel as Aliya, a woman struggling with the realities of a tragic pregnancy loss.
“I suffered a miscarriage about a year and a half ago and it was heartbreaking. Still is about how hard it is to survive losing a child – a child you held or one you never met. It’s about how well-meaning words can feel empty, meaningless, and hurtful to someone suffering a loss,” said Abergel, who also wrote, and will produce and direct the film. “If you’ve lost a baby, I hope this film brings you healing and inspires understanding in others.”
Still is the third film from Abergel’s production company, Cyclamen Films. Her first two films, Jax in Love and Boo,...

Cape Town (South Africa), Feb 20 (Ians) England may have secured qualification for the Icc Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 semi-finals but wicket-keeper batter Amy Jones says her side is still searching for a ‘complete performance’ as they prepare to conclude their group stage against Pakistan.
An 11-run victory against India at St George’s Park on Saturday made it three wins from three and England are now looking to seal the top spot with a victory over a Pakistan side whose slim qualification hopes rest on a win here and an Ireland victory over India.
Jones struck 40 from 27 deliveries against India and believes the squad are embracing head coach Jon Lewis’ aggressive batting blueprint.
“We’ve had three good games, but we keep saying we’re still searching for the complete performance. In terms of how we’ve gone about those three games, I think it’s been brilliant,” said Jones.

Paarl (South Africa), Feb 19 (Ians) Former champions West Indies kept their slender semifinal hopes alive with a nail-biting three-run win over Pakistan that went down to the last ball.
Bidding to build on their win over Ireland, West Indies, who won the title in 2016 in India, opted to bat and posted a below-par 116/6 at Boland Park here.
Skipper Hayley Matthews took key Pakistan wickets early and late in the innings to inspire her side to a dramatic victory. Matthews and Rashada Williams flayed 15 from the bowling of Aiman Anwer in the fourth over but navigated the powerplay in a cagey fashion.
Matthews perished late in the powerplay when she tried to lift Fatima Sana over the midwicket boundary but only found the hands of Sidra Ameen. It was a massive wicket that sparked wild celebrations but not a flurry of scalps as Shemaine Campbelle joined Williams and the pair put on 40 at a run-a-ball.

Well, that didn't take long. Just last week, Suletta was convinced that Miorine had left her behind as she became increasingly enmeshed in the workings of Gund-arm, Inc. This week, after ten minutes of increasingly painful misunderstandings, Miorine confronts a spiraling Suletta and assures her that no matter what happens, she will always care about her. "Stay at my side forever," she says, embracing Suletta. It's not quite "I love you," but it's the closest she's come to a genuine confession of intimacy in this whole series. Certainly, it was enough to fuel another round of fan art online from excited fans rooting for the two of them to get together.
At the same time, I can't help but be nervous about what might happen next to Suletta and Miorine. "Witch From Mercury," after all, is a blunt instrument. It captured an audience eagerly following every twist and turn by...
