In true 80’s nostalgia fashion, I’ve been hyped about seeing this film since I’ve seen the poster. Yes, a poster sold me on the movie – just the way I grew up watching movies in the late 80’s & 90’s. Anchor Bay just announced the release date for the 80’s slasher homage, Lost After Dark.
If you thought the 80s were dead — think again! On September 1st, Anchor Bay Entertainment goes full 80s retro with Lost After Dark, a loving but harrowing homage that takes audiences back to the decade when slashers ruled the silver screen. The exciting directing debut of writer/director Ian Kessner, Lost After Dark proudly features visceral, old-school prosthetic “kills,” and pop songs pulsing to an electronic beat. So thrown on a pair of acid wash jeans and go full-on tubular with Lost After Dark! Srp is $26.99 for the Blu-ray™ and $22.98 for the DVD, with pre-book on July 31st.

Toronto -- In a move that injects a new contender into this year's Oscar race, Lionsgate has picked up North American rights to John Cameron Mitchell's "Rabbit Hole," which had its world premiere Monday at the Toronto International Film Festival.
As the festival winds to its Sunday close, other distributors were lining up films that could play next year's festival circuit: IFC Films said it has acquired worldwide rights, except Canada, to Barry Avrich's documentary "Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project," and Sony Pictures Classics said it picked up North American rights to Pedro Almodovar's latest movie, gothic thriller "The Skin I Inhabit," now filming.
Additionally, Anchor Bay Films has secured rights to "Carjacked," a thriller being directed by John Bonito ("The Marine").
Lionsgate will release "Rabbit" by year's end, and based on positive reactions here, that should make the movie a player during awards season.

Toronto: The Toronto deals are exploding! Anchor Bay Films has just closed all English-speaking rights to Beautiful Boy, the Shawn Ku-directed drama. I'm told the deal was 7-figures, negotiated by Paradigm Motion Picture Finance Group's Ben Weiss with Anchor Bay Films' Kevin Kasha. Deal includes a P&A commitment. Lightning Entertainment is selling foreign. It stars Maria Bello and Michael Sheen as disengaged parents of a college student who discover not only that he has been killed in a campus shooting, but that he was the triggerman who massacred other students. The picture premiered Sunday and has been a topic of buzz, particularly for those strong lead performances and Ku's and Michael Armbruster's script. Anchor Bay continues to raise its profile after acquiring and releasing Solitary Man and City Island. First Point Entertainment's Lee Clay and Gold Rush Entertainment's Eric Gozlan produced the pic.
