Today was a busy day for some of the smaller guilds with the Visual Effects Society, the Cinema Audio Society, and the Makeup and Hairstylists Guilds all announcing their nominations for 2013.
First, we have the Ves, whose main category to look at is “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture,” where we find Gravity and four other nominees that are just going to have to be happy with the fact that they got nominated. This is perhaps the easiest category to call in the entirety of awards season, and I don’t mean just here, but for the Oscar as well (Last year’s winner, Life of Pi, easily took this category before going on to claim the Oscar). Last word on season 1.5 comes from Jane Espenson, who says it will start airing in October Alessandra Torresani tweeted earlier today that they won't know if the show will get a season two until August and that this is the time to let Syfy know that you want the show back - you can do this on Twitter, Facebook, or by emailing Syfy at feedback@syfy.comWhile there's still no news on the season 1.0 DVD for region 1, the first half of the season will be released in the UK on October 11. No DVD details yet, but it will be a four disc set Caprica will have a panel at the San Diego Comic Con on Thursday,...

Despite being nominated for Best Drama and having its star Anna Paquin win Best Actress in a TV Drama at this year's Golden Globes, "True Blood" was shut out of the major categories for the 2009 Emmy Awards, which announced its nominees earlier today. But that's not to say it, and a few other genre-related shows, won't be showing up at the party.
