Feist’s new album Multitudes has arrived. Listen to the record below via Apple Music and Spotify.
Produced by Robbie Lackritz and Mocky, Multitudes was inspired by the birth of Feist’s daughter and the sudden death of her father. “The last few years were such a period of confrontation for me, and it feels like it was at least to some degree for everyone,” she said in a statement.
The artist continued, “We confronted ourselves as much as our relationships confronted us. It felt like our relational ecosystems were clearer than ever and so whatever was normally obscured- like a certain way of avoiding conflict or a certain way of talking around the subject- were all of a sudden thrust into the light. And in all that reassessment, the chance to find footing on healthier, more honest ground became possible, and the effort to maintain avoidance actually felt like...

Pharrell Williams has expanded the lineup for Something in the Water, his upcoming music festival in Virginia Beach. Among the new additions is Arcade Fire, whose lead singer Win Butler was accused of sexual misconduct by four people in August 2022.
At the time, Butler said the relationships “were all consensual” while alluding to mental health issues as “context” for his behavior. Following the allegations, some Canadian radio stations pulled Arcade Fire’s music from the airwaves and Feist withdrew as an opener on the band’s European tour with a statement saying, “I can’t continue.” One month later, Beck followed suit by dropping off the North American leg without comment.
Anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorist M.I.A. has also been added to this year’s Pharrell’s Phriends set, during which she will perform alongside A$AP Rocky, Busta Rhymes, and De La Soul. Last October, M.I.A. questioned why Alex Jones...

Last year, Feist opened two shows for Arcade Fire before exiting the tour in response to sexual misconduct allegations leveled against the band’s frontman, Win Butler. Now, she’s opened up about her initial decision to stay on the tour, and her ultimate choice to leave, in an interview with The Irish Times.
A detailed report by Pitchfork revealing Butler’s extramarital relationships — in which he used his power as a rock star in inappropriate ways with much younger women — was published on August 27th, 2022. Feist was set to open for Arcade Fire in Ireland on August 30th, and went along with the shows after considering the money she’d invested in bringing her band across the Atlantic, as well as the potential in trying out new songs for an audience.
“I was having an out-of-body experience,” Feist recalled in the new interview. “Not to mention, I had brought all of these new songs.

The Canadian Academy Of Recording Arts And Sciences announced this week the nominations for the 52nd Annual Juno Awards. Arcade Fire singer Win Butler has been accused of sexual misconduct by a fifth woman.
On November 22, a woman using the pseudonym Sabina told Pitchfork that Butler was “emotionally abusive, manipulative, and toxic” throughout the course of their three-year relationship.
“It was an ongoing abusive relationship,” she shared. “Emotionally abusive, manipulative, toxic, and using his power dynamic to exploit my body at times that were convenient for him. He met me when I was so vulnerable.”
According to her, they met in 2015 when Butler was 35 and Sabina, just 22. At the time, she was freshly out of a rigid religious community, and he was, of course, in a widely famous band.
Sabina accused Butler of frequently requesting explicit photos over text and sending her unsolicited nude photos of himself.
Allegedly, if she didn’t engage in sexting and sending and appreciating photos, things got ugly. “He would make you feel so bad about it,...

Kanye West revealed that he has asked former US president Donald Trump to be his “running mate” for the 2024 presidential elections.
In a tweet shared on Wednesday (23 November), the 45-year-old rapper said he visited Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort for the first time.
“First time at Mar-a-Lago,” wrote West, who legally changed his name to Ye. “Rain and traffic. Can’t believe I kept President Trump waiting. And I had on jeans.
“What you guys think [Trump’s] response was when I asked him to be my running mate in 2024?” Ye, who ran for office in 2020, added.
A separate report suggested West had travelled to Mar-a-Lago with white nationalist Nick Fuentes, who marched at the 2017 ‘Unite the Right’ rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, at which a neo-Nazi drove his car into counter-protesters, killing one woman and injured dozens more.

A fifth woman has made misconduct allegations against Win Butler, the frontman of indie rock group Arcade Fire.
Earlier this year, four other women came forward with claims of sexual misconduct against Butler, 42, citing incidents that allegedly took place between 2016 and 2020.
In a statement at the time, Butler denied all claims of misconduct, stating that he was “very sorry to anyone who I have hurt with my behaviour” but that “these relationships were all consensual”.
“I f***ed up, and while not an excuse, I will continue to look forward and heal what can be healed, and learn from past experiences,” he said.
Now, a fifth woman, indentified by the pseudonym Sabina, has told Pitchfork magazine that she had a “toxic” relationship with Butler that lasted three years.
Butler has been married to the musician and Arcade Fire bandmate Régine Chassagne since 2003.

Beck has become the latest artist to drop off the Arcade Fire tour. Today, he withdrew as the opening act after appearing in that capacity on the group’s European leg.
His decision comes just before the start of Arcade Fire’s North American tour, which begins in Washington, DC later this month.
No reason was given by Beck for the change of heart. Arcade Fire lead singer Win Butler has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women in the last few months, incidents which Butler has claimed were consensual encounters.
The cloud over Butler caused Feist to withdraw from her supporting act status on Arcade Fire’s earlier legs.
Haitian band Boukman Eksperyans will take Beck’s slot. Ticketholders were informed of the change via email today.

Beck has dropped out of supporting Arcade Fire’s US tour just six weeks after Feist quit the European leg.
The musician did not cite any reasons for quitting his role as the band’s supporting act, unlike Feist who released a statement about the allegations facing Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler.

He was due to support the band from 27 October for 18 concerts ending in Toronto on 1 December.
The Independent has contacted Beck’s representatives for comments.
Four accusers have spoken out against the musician, accusing him of sexual misconduct between 2015 and 2020.

It's an interesting time to be a fan of "Saturday Night Live." Since the season 47 finale in May, we've seen the cast departures of Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Alex Moffat, Kyle Mooney, Melissa Villaseñor, Chris Redd, and Aristotle Athari. We've also seen four new cast members join the cast: Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker. It might sound like a lot of changes, but don't worry: at least we know Kenan Thompson's sticking around.
The last time there was a cast shake-up on this level was in 2013, when Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis and Fred Armisen all left at the same time, and six new cast members were added for the new season. If you're thinking that's an unusually high number of cast members to add at once, you're correct. The show itself was aware of this, which might be why the host Tina Fey...

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s leaked draft opinion that threatens to overturn Roe v. Wade loomed large over Saturday Night Live, from the cold open to the Weekend Update to the curtain call. As they walked out to take a bow, the episode’s host, Benedict Cumberbatch, and several Saturday Night Live cast members wore white T-shirts with 1973 on them, which is the year the Supreme Court’s landmark decision was made. Garments with 1973 emblazoned on them have been used to show support for Roe v. Wade.
Just minutes earlier, the episode’s musical guest, Arcade Fire, ended their second performance with lead singer Win Butler, whose guitar also had a 1973 sticker on it, proclaiming, “Women’s right to choose forever and ever and ever, amen.” You can watch it below.

“Saturday Night Live” host Benedict Cumberbatch dove right in to the action in his second time out as host, appearing in the cold open sketch that took aim at the Supreme Court’s move on abortion rights and the spectacle of the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial.
Cumberbatch, star of the latest MCU movie release “Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” appeared in a 13th century sword-and-sandals costume, complete with a Prince Valiant wig, as he and two others sitting in a castle debated how to govern women’s reproductive rights.
The sketch opened with a voice-over and text scroll that made reference to Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s citation of 17th century writings of British judge Matthew Hale and references to 13th-century laws as offering justification for curbing rights protected for a half-century by the landmark 1973 Roe v. When Arcade Fire first came roaring out of Montreal with their firmament-strafing debut, Funeral, in 2004, they promised something new, exciting, and somewhat contradictory: heroic, culturally significant indie rock. A significance-deprived world ate it right up. This band didn’t just musically honor Springsteen, U2, and Bowie in the coming years, they became those artists’ peers and collaborators. Sometimes they’ve lived up to the high expectations they set for themselves, and sometimes they haven’t. Album’s like 2007’s Neon Bible and 2010’s The Suburbs were potent expressions of underdog rock gusto.

With it being nearly eight years since the release of Spike Jonze’s Her, we expected this is a headline that would arrive sooner, but Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett’s score will finally be getting a release for the first time.
The Oscar-nominated score will be coming from Milan Records and arriving on March 19 for streaming and on vinyl and cassette. “It was an honor to be asked by our friend Spike Jonze to work on the Her score,” Arcade Fire’s Win Butler said. “There is a mysterious alchemy in the way sound and picture work together, notes and moods shifting and reacting to one another like a kaleidoscope… And even in the absence of visuals, the emotional landscape still remains. We hope you have a moment of stillness to get lost in the music as we did writing and recording it.”
