There’s nothing quite like the charm of a haunted house film – the skin-crawling sound design, the intricate ghost story, the cute family that grows increasingly unhinged – the vengeful spirit(s) that stalks them without reason. Sure, these classic staples have been done to death by now and every creaky floorboard or sludge-filled bathtub has been milked dry, but that loveable charm still remains, even in the worst of the bunch.
From the beginning, A Haunting In Salem demonstrates that it retains aforementioned charm with a killer opening, showcasing all the loveable aspects horror buffs have come to expect from the haunted house film. This opening is unsettling; it’s startling and best of all it’s an intriguing hook to reel you in for what’s to come. That’s all very well but the thing that I’m most interested in as both...

The Asylum has actually been on a roll lately with the wonderfully ludicrous 2012: Ice Age and the surprisingly decent Born Bad. Will the streak continue with a 3D ghost flick, more monster sharks, and a mockbuster with the exact same title as its theatrical counterpart?
We begin with A Haunting in Salem 3D, the latest 3D haunted house movie from The Asylum following 2009’s Haunting of Winchester House, a film I found to be as boring as its 3D was useless. Hopefully they improved things in both categories.
When the new sheriff of Salem, Massachusetts discovers that he is the victim of a centuries-old curse, he must protect his family from the vengeful ghosts that torment his home.
Paranormal Entity and Titanic II helmer Shane Van Dyke directs Bill Oberst, Jr., Courtney Abbiati, Jenna Stone, and Nicholas Harsin from a script by H. Perry Horton.

The first trailer for the upcoming horror film A Haunting in Salem has hit the web and we have it for you to check out below the article. This one looks quite promising!
The film from The Asylum and they are really churning this one out. It was filmed in 3D, and was in and out of post production within 10 weeks. That's pretty impressive, considering how professional it already looks from the trailer. Pay attention movie and production companies, this is how it's done.
A Haunting In Salem is a feature horror movie that was filmed in May, 2011 and has a release date scheduled for late August on DVD. The movie stars Bill Oberst, Jr., Courtney Abbiati, Jenna Stone, and Nicholas Harsin.

Congrats! Also, what the hell is "stereography," you ask?
Stereography, an alleged "art," is a very complex method of creating stereoscopic imagery - or 3-D - for films. The official, technical description, is:
Quote:
Stereography uses a combination of capturing unique Left and Right eye images (Stereo Pairs), then displaying those images in a proportional and aligned composition, discretely to Only their correlating eye. Distance between cameras (Stereo Base), time frame between images captured (Sync/Phase), angle, skew, declination (Stereo Alignment), point of focus (Convergence) and Image Separation when viewing (InterOcular) all must be precisely designed to create successful Stereoscopic imagery. If any of these or any other minute details fail in capture or display, the human brain immediately, albeit subconsciously, recognizes that there is a problem, Being highly efficient, the brain tries to resolve the problem by filling in the missing data, just like it does for people every day,...

The folks over at The Asylum Studios are working on a new film called A Haunting In Salem, and we've got some exclusive set pictures for you to gander at below.
A Haunting In Salem is a feature film that is currently being shot in Los Angeles through the month of May. Another interesting note about this flick is that it's being shot in 3D. Release date is scheduled for late August on DVD.
Lead actor Nicholas Harsin plays the roll of Kyle, and told More Horror that "The script is very gritty (written by H. Perry Horton) and directed by horror vet Shane Van Dyke. The story is creepy as hell and is being shot old school, very few special effects, in a 200 year old mansion in Pasadena, CA.
I play the son of a sheriff (Bill Oberst Jr.) who has just moved to...

There has been A Haunting in Georgia, A Haunting in Connecticut, and there will be a The Haunting in New York, so it seems like A Haunting in Salem is the next best stop for a ghost story. Also, Bill Oberst Jr. (Dismal) will star with Courtney Abbiati, Jenna Stone, and Nicholas Harsin. Production will begin soon with Shane Van Dyke (Titanic II) to direct.
