Neon has booked domestic distribution rights to the Riley Keough thriller “The Lodge,” which premiered Friday night in the midnight section of the Sundance Film Festival. The deal is worth just under $2 million, according to an individual familiar with the negotiations.
The film, which should hit theaters in 2019, is the English-language debut of Austrian writer-directors Severin Fiala and Veronika Franz, who first made a splash with the 2014 German-language horror film “Goodnight Mommy.”
In the film, Lia McHugh and Jaeden Lieberher (“It”) star as siblings who are snowed in a remote cabin with the much younger woman (Keough) whom their dad (Richard Armitage) plans to marry after dumping their mom (Alicia Silverstone.

Exclusive: In a development that bodes well for the coming avalanche of acquisition titles that starts tomorrow at the Toronto Film Festival, Relativity has closed a seven-figure deal for U.S. distribution rights to The Woman In Black 2. That is the sequel to the hit 2012 haunted house film that starred Daniel Radcliffe and was distributed in the U.S. by CBS Films. The sequel rights were controlled by Hammer and eOne, and the deal was brokered by CAA. The original grossed $54 million domestically and $128 million worldwide.
While buyers tell me they don’t see an obvious gotta-have-it title at Toronto like last year’s Can A Song Save Your Life, there is certainly an appetite for films that has been evident in festivals this year from Sundance to Berlin and Cannes. The Woman In Black 2 deal closed today, hours before Warner Bros opens the festival with the Robert Downey Jr-starrer The Judge.

Cannes: Now that former president of international sales and distribution Alex Walton has announced his new company Bloom, Us operations at Exclusive Media are expected to wind down quickly.
What will remain of Dasym-owned Exclusive Media and continue as going concerns are the 800+ library and UK-based genre label Hammer run by Simon Oakes.
The popular Walton has transitioned his international team with him to the new venture, backed by producer-financier and Waypoint Entertainment founder Ken Kao.
The extraction of the sales team, allied to the fact that Bloom will continue to sell and service outstanding titles on the Exclusive Media slate, foreshadows the demise of the production division under president of worldwide production and acquisitions Tobin Armbrust.

Efm: The fate of Exclusive Media remained unclear on Friday night (7) as it appeared that co-chairmen Nigel Sinclair and Guy East were headed for the exit.
As Alex Walton and his team pressed ahead with sales on, among others, the reconstituted Black Mass project starring Johnny Depp (Tom Hardy is in talks to join), the co-chairs were locked in crisis talks.
While Woman In Black was a bona fide smash, the disappointing global performance of Rush and perhaps more significantly the financial ramifications of Exclusive Media’s top-heavy structure have clearly tested the patience of prime backer Dasym Investment Strategies, the investment vehicle of Dutch mogul John de Mol.

The Cinema And Television History (Cath) Research Centre at Leicester De Montfort University is delighted and honored to be the custodian of Hammer’s archive of scripts.
Internationally, Hammer is the most famous of Britain’s film studios, and in the UK it has an impressive heritage. Most recently with The Woman In Black which has since its release taken over £10m in the UK and over $60m worldwide- Hammer is bringing its brand of horror films to a whole new generation.
The Cath Research Centre is proud to be associated with the revival of this classic British brand, and to be entrusted with elements of its historic archive at a time when the company is restoring its classic films for Blu-ray and DVD release. Our agreement with Hammer will involve the cataloguing and curation of the materials, but the intention is also to make them available to scholars in digital form.

HollywoodNews.com: Hammer’s chilling ghost story The Woman in Black shattered box office expectations during its three day opening weekend (Fri-Sun) in the Us, grossing just over $21m to come in a very close second place.
