Even if you’d based most of your horror movie in Central Park, you’d think you could come up with a better title for it. No horror-themed thoughts, ideas or images go through my head with the simple title Central Park but here I am reviewing the film anyway…
Poor title aside, Central Park does do some good things. I actually quite like the idea of a slasher movie where the killer just chases people around the famous park with police unable to capture them for years. Whether it’s a good or bad thing, Central Park isn’t that film.
There is a killer and his victims are a group of teenagers but the writers throw in a whole lot more to the story than that.

Justin Reinsilber's 2017 horror flick Central Park has found a home in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand thanks to Danse Macabre, the horror distribution arm of Jinga Films. First time director Justin Reinsilber, helms the horror feature Central Park. The film will have its World Premiere at the Dances with Films festival, in Los Angeles. In this title, children of New York's elite are targeted by a vengeful killer. In Manhattan's most well-known park, there is nowhere to hide and no escape. Central Park stars: Justiin A. Davis (Catfight), Ruby Modine (Half to Death), Grace Van Patten, Malika Samuel, Guillermo Arribas and Deema Aitken. To show in early June, a look ahead at the film's World Premiere is hosted here. The Dances with Films' synopsis is a bit more revealing. From this synopsis, six high school juniors rally around a billionaire father. He is the target of an investigation and accused of a Ponzi-like racketeering scheme. Later, the teenagers head out into Central Park, to blow off steam. Dallas Buyers Club producer Rachel Winter has lined up the cast on her long-gestating next project, Stealing Cars.
Emory Cohen, Mike Epps, Felicity Huffman, John Leguizamo, William H Macy and Paul Sparks are among the ensemble on the drama, currently shooting in New York.
Stealing Cars tells of a rebellious teenager who is sent to juvenile prison and learns to forgive himself in the wake of a tragic car accident.
Winter (pictured) first read the Stealing Cars screenplay 14 years ago and it has been set up at several studios with different cast and film-maker attachments.
She produces the story with Dan Keston while Steve Levinson and Mark Wahlberg serve as executive producers with Erika Hampson.
Production entities are Winter’s Tangerine Films, alongside Benefit Street Films, Truth Entertainment and Two Ton Films. Financing comes from private equity and New York tax credits.

The New Group will present the world premiere of An Early History of Fire, a new play by Tony Award-winning playwright David Rabe. Directed by Jo Bonney, this production features Deema Aitken, Gordon Clapp, Erin Darke, Jonny Orsini, Devin Ratray, Dennis Staroselsky, Theo Stockman and Claire van der Boom. Limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated April 5 May 26 at The New Group Theatre Row 410 West 42nd Street. Official Opening Night is set for Monday, April 23 at 700 Pm. Lily Rabe, who was previously slated to star in the play will no longer be taking part in the production.
