As the WrestleMania weekend rolls on forward, some of the most anticipated match-ups and WWE gold that was on the line have taken place, and the results of the first night are pouring in with both triumphant victories and disappointing defeats.
But one victory, in particular, has got the fans cheering at the top of their lungs, while experts in the pro wrestling sport have been stunned silent, which was the match between Sami Zayn and The Ring General Gunther.
Sami Zayn and Gunther at the WWE backstage area in a still from Monday Night Raw.
On Saturday, both these superstars entered the ring with the WWE Intercontinental Championship on the line, and by the end, Zayn emerged victorious, holding the belt above his head. This decision, though being adored by fans, is being questioned by experts. More specifically, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier cannot seem to digest this result.

The ESPYs’ television broadcast only paints so much of the picture of what went down at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles from sports’ biggest award ceremony. Viewers at home saw Tracy Morgan host, celebrities like Sandra Bullock present and athletes including Drew Brees, Alex Morgan and Giannis Antetokounmpo receive awards, but they didn’t quite catch all the exciting moments left off TV. Here’s what they missed:
“Fresh Prince” Dwyane Wade: During a commercial break karaoke challenge, Wade showed his skills on the mic as he rapped along to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” theme song. The retired basketball superstar laid down the rhymes from the comfort of his own seat, next to his wife, Gabrielle Union. “In West Philadelphia born and raised…” Wade rapped, filling in the remainder of the song with perfect memory as the lyrics cut out.

WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar has quietly re-upped his WWE contract to run through April 2019’s WrestleMania 35, a person with knowledge of the wrestler’s deal told TheWrap.
Lesnar won the title last Friday at the hotly debated Saudi Arabia pay-per-view event “Crown Jewel,” when he dominated opponent Braun Strowman. Getting the belt back on Brock appeared to be a last-minute pivot, as WWE had to change plans when top babyface (the pro-wrestling term for a good guy) Roman Reigns revealed his leukemia had returned.
Before Reigns’ (real name Joe Anoa’i) shocking announcement, the middle-eastern match was meant to be a triple threat. Reigns surrendered the belt before taking medical leave, and WWE locked Brock back up into what is believed to be a big-money deal.
