Driving down Las Vegas Boulevard today looks a lot different than it did a few weeks ago. Obstructed are the many sights that bring 40 million-plus people to the city every year. There are no Bellagio Fountains to see, no showgirls and Elvises posing for pictures, no gondoliers in the canals of Venice and no flashing marquees advertising nightly residency shows. The iconic thoroughfare now transports its travelers into a scene out of Grand Prix the movie with fencing and race barrier walls ensconcing the multi-lane public road. All this as the Strip is in its final transformation to become the Las Vegas Strip Circuit for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, which takes place on Saturday night, Nov. 18. Rigs with high-wattage lighting run the 3.8 mile course, which stretches from Koval Lane to Sands Avenue and down Las Vegas Boulevard to Harmon Avenue. Everywhere Las Vegas’ iconography has been replaced by...

At long last, the strike is over! The largest actors’ union in Hollywood (the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) has agreed to a new three-year contract with top Hollywood studios, meaning that your favorite television series or movie that was in the midst of production when writers and actors walked offsets can now get back to action.
That’s certainly a relief where this column is concerned, though streaming platforms weren’t due to run out of content completely for another few months. In fact, this week’s release schedule features a great lineup of movies and shows, and could reasonably stand up against most other weeks in terms of streaming releases regardless of strikes!

When you think of Keanu Reeves, you're probably more focused on the good-natured memes, or him kicking ass in a variety of movies such as the :a[John Wick]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/movies/reviews/john-wick-review/' } franchise. But did you suspect had a — pun entirely intended — driving interest in Formula 1 racing? As it turns out, he's fronting a new docuseries about the sport, focused on the unbelievable story of one particular underdog team. Brawn: The Impossible Formula One Story is driving towards a release on Disney+ and the trailer is online:
The four-part series will chronicle mogul Ross Brawn’s purchase of the Honda F1 team prior to the start of the 2009 season for just £1, and his subsequent turnaround of the team, which resulted in both the Drivers’ (for Jenson Button) and Constructors’ titles.
Of course, the story isn't quite as simple as that, with simmering rivalries,...

Keanu Reeves is steering into a new direction with upcoming Hulu series “Brawn: The Impossible Formula One Story.”
A U.K. Original series, “Brawn” will debut on Disney+ globally outside of the U.S. and on Hulu stateside. The four-part docuseries sees “John Wick” star Reeves dive deeper into the 2009 Formula 1 World Championship that saw an underdog team win big.
In 2009, competing in the most expensive and technologically advanced racing series on Earth, the impossible happened. An understaffed, under-financed, and independent team won the World Championship — with a team that cost just one euro.
“Brawn” features interviews with those involved in the championship, including exclusive F1 archival footage that has been previously unseen. British F1 drivers Jenson Button and Ross Brawn, who both led the team to victory, appear in the series alongside Reeves.

Disney+ has unveiled the first look images for its upcoming documentary series featuring Keanu Reeves as the host and executive producer. The series, titled “Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story”, will tell the remarkable story of how an underdog team defied all odds and won the World Championship in 2009.
The four-part series will follow the journey of Ross Brawn, the former technical director of Ferrari, who bought the Honda team for a symbolic £1 after the Japanese manufacturer pulled out of Formula 1 due to the global financial crisis. Brawn renamed the team as Brawn Gp and hired drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, who had been left without a seat.
With a limited budget, a small staff and an untested car, Brawn Gp faced a daunting challenge to compete against the likes of Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull. However, thanks to Brawn’s brilliant strategy, innovative design and relentless work ethic, the...

Disney+ has unveiled an eclectic slate of five new U.K. unscripted originals spanning a broad range of talent and topics from Keanu Reeves to arguably the most talked about U.K. trial in years.
Wagatha Christie (working title), produced by Lorton Street Entertainment in association with Dorothy Street Pictures, will be uncovering one of the biggest tabloid news stories in Britain over the last decade, revealing how Coleen Rooney, wife of soccer star Wayne Rooney, turned amateur sleuth to reveal who had been leaking private stories to the press, and the high-profile defamation case brought against her by fellow footballer’s wife Rebekah Vardy. In something of a coup for Disney+, the three-part series will be told through exclusive access to Rooney, alongside interviews with family, friends and key players involved in the trial.

Keanu Reeves is working on a documentary about Formula One for Disney+, Variety has learned.
The as-yet-untitled four-part docuseries will reportedly focus on Formula 1 managing director Ross Brawn, who in 2009 bought the Honda team, renamed it Brawn Gp and took it to two unprecedented championship victories.
Reeves will host the doc and has already been conducting interviews. Among those believed to be on board are former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo, whom Reeves was pictured with last month, and drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello. Brawn himself is also set to take part.
All3Media-owned North One Television is understood to be producing the series.
Reeves has long been known as a speed freak with an extensive motorcycle collection. He even founded his own motorcycle manufacturer, Arch Motorcycle, with Gard Hollinger.

The Malaysian Grand Prix usually doesn’t fail to provide a thrilling race. Last year we saw Fernando Alonso holding off youngster Sergio Perez to win in wet weather, and this time round we saw a slightly different picture. Plagued by controversy it was more the after story rather than the race itself grabbing the headlines. So let us delve into what happened over the weekend’s action.
Qualifying
Qualifying produced a mixed bag of results with it being dry for Q1 and the beginning of Q2, and wet for the rest of the hour. Q1 saw the usual suspects fail to qualify for Q2. Marussia won the battle of back end with Jules Bianchi gaining 19th nearly a second quicker that Charles Pic in the Caterham who could only manage 20th. Max Chilton wasn’t too far off Pic’s pace getting 21st and van der Garde occupied 22nd.

Infiniti Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel has won the second grand prix of the year in Sepang, not too anyone’s surprise, however the talking points were the team orders prevalent in the top four.
First the team orders that were ignored. With Webber leading going into the final quarter of the race the drivers were told to maintain their positions with Vettel in second place, however on lap 46 the German snuck through and everything after that, they say, is history.
The “conflict” started earlier in the race when Vettel radioed the team to allow him to overtake the Australian because he was going “too slow.” The result was Webber pulling more than one second clear and Vettel becoming a deer in the headlights to the approaching Mercedes of both Hamilton and Rosberg.
Speaking about the incident after the race, Red Bull boss Christian Horner believed that last years champion...

The news was not a shock. Eddie Jordan on the BBC website was the first to reveal Hamilton and Mercedes were in negotiations, and with each passing interview with Martin Whitmarsh or Lewis Hamilton, I never had the feeling either British party was going all in to sign on the dotted line.
The first thought that comes to mind is money. Reports are mixed as to which team – McLaren or Mercedes – offered the largest basic salary. The Telegraph pointed to sources saying Mercedes were offering close to £60million over three years, an increase on Hamilton’s current £15million a season deal with McLaren. The Woking based team, on the other hand, were looking to make economies. Ron Dennis said his contract was signed during less austere times, indicating McLaren were looking to offer the former World Champions less money. The signing of the talented Sergio Perez, backed by Carlos Slim’s billions,...
