Blur aren't too keen on The X Factor, but would be up for a Taylor Swift collaboration.
Graham Coxon of the band has likened the ITV singing competition to "the devil's work", adding that such talent shows seldom provide a fruitful career in music.
Asked his position on such shows, Coxon quipped: "Stage left with a machine gun."
He told the Mail on Sunday's Event magazine: "In the past, TV talent shows provided entertainment, but they didn't promise anybody a career. I don't believe in the devil, but The X Factor is the devil's work."
Damon Albarn was similarly sceptical, and recounted bumping into the show's creator Simon Cowell at this year's Brit Awards.
"I looked at him and said, 'I've got my eye on you'. That's all I said, because I have. He didn't say much in reply," said Albarn.

The programme, produced by Nerd TV, will feature contributions from the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Irvine Welsh, Blur's Alex James, Robert Carlyle, The Happy Mondays and Massive Attack.

"Whilst we wait, I'm really pleased to be taking a look back at this fascinating period when Generation X rose to prominence and everyone was mad for it."

Prime Minister David Cameron apparently spent New Year's Eve "dad dancing" and "sipping on red wine" at a party held by Blur star Alex James.
A report in The Sun claims that the Conservative leader let his hair down at the "old school disco-style" party and that he was almost persuaded to take part in karaoke.
Cameron and his wife Samantha both attended the event in Oxfordshire, and it is described by the paper as "an off-duty night for the Pm".
Other celebrities at the event included Spandau Ballet star Gary Kemp.
An eyewitness told the paper: "Alex kept trying to get [Cameron] to sing karaoke and looked like he was almost persuaded. But that was the point he realised it was probably time to go home.

2012 appears to be the year for younger, i.e. under 10 years old, underground fests to blow it wide open and go for broke. This time it’s the 4th annual Oakland Underground Film Festival that is expanding its horizons into a blowout four-day, much more densely packed affair, running on Sept. 27-30 at several different locations.
Expanding on the types of films they screen, this year Oakuff is jammed pack with a wide variety of documentaries, thrillers, a bevy of short films and a special tribute to blaxploitation films hosted by BadAzz MoFo’s David Walker.
The fest opens on the 27th with skateboarding filmmaker Stacy Peralta’s latest, Bones Brigade: An Autobiography, which documents his own involvement with California board culture along with peers like Tony Hawk and Rodney Mullen. Following that will be Ya’Ke Smith’s complex drama about the effects of child molestation.

That announcement will come later, but what price on either Noel or Liam Gallagher defying the Britpop divide that saw a rivalry spring up between their bands and joining Damon Albarn et al on stage for a roof-raising finale? Wishful thinking perhaps. Maybe they’ll just go with Brian May on top of a London landmark again…

Alex James has revealed that performing with Blur always feels like it could be their final bow. The bass player likened the experience to reforming The A-Team for one last job and confessed that he is looking forward to getting back on stage with the group at tomorrow night's (February 21) Brit Awards in London. Writing for The Sun, James explained: "There is always a feeling that this may be Blur's last bow, which I suppose makes it all the more exciting. "We've been asked to perform five songs. I met up with the band last week and we discussed what we will play. I'm more excited about playing a few of the old hits again than winning. "Winning prizes is nothing compared to the feeling of playing (more)...

A small independent cafe in London's West End, frequented by actors since 1965, is facing closure. Now it has become the subject of an A-list campaign to save it – and a focus for growing discontent over the homogenisation of the high street
From first-night parties to snacks grabbed on the way to rehearsal, one small cafe has served the actors, dancers and musicians of London's theatreland for nearly five decades with reliable congeniality. Hit shows have come and gone, stars risen and fallen, but the falafels at Gaby's Deli have remained a crowd-pleaser. Until this Christmas, however, when the future suddenly looked bleak for the West End institution, as a planning application was passed for its redevelopment as a chain restaurant.

Alex James has revealed that Blur are meeting up at Christmas and will probably record new material. The bassist confirmed Damon Albarn's revelation last month that the band have been meeting up regularly and teased that their next encounter could result in some new songs. James told NME: "We're getting together for a Christmas drink next week which is nice. We still see each other all the time, more since we were all living out of a suitcase. We'll probably record again." However, the musician suggested that the group may not release a full album, but rather an Ep of songs. He added: "Is there such a thing as (more)...

Blur frontman Damon Albarn has confirmed that the band have started to record new material. The Britpop stars - consisting of Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree - recorded a new track with poet Michael Horovitz earlier this year. The song was inspired as a reaction to the slight threat that Notting Hill Carnival could have been cancelled back in August, following the riots that hit the UK. Albarn told NME: "If they'd have cancelled the carnival - and thank God they didn't - maybe we'd have put it out. "It had its moment: it was a perfect plea to reinstate the carnival. (more)...

Noel Gallagher has reportedly made up with Damon Albarn. The ex-Oasis songwriter and Blur frontman fell out at the height of Britpop, with their singles 'Roll With It' and 'Country House' famously competing in the charts in August 1995. Gallagher said in a 1996 interview that he hoped Albarn and Blur bassist Alex James "catch AIDS and die", but quickly retracted the comment. "Funnily enough, when I was out last night, I bumped into him," Gallagher told ShortList of Albarn. "I literally haven't seen the guy for 15 f**king years and I bump into him in some club. "We both went, 'Hey! F**king hell!' and then he said, 'Come on, let's go for a beer'. So, we're sitting there, having a beer, just going, 'What the f**k was all that about 15 years ago? The Hole singer and widow of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain hopes to "set the record straight" in the book, which is expected to cover her life as an aspiring musician, her marriage and drug problems, her attempted Hollywood career fortune of the Nirvana estate she claims to have been defrauded out of.
Details of what Courtney – who has one daughter, 19-year-old Frances Bean, with Kurt - intends to write are scarce at present, but she is known for her self-belief and being extremely opinionated, direct and forthright in her interviews and writing.
According to publishers William Morrow, the book will be a collaboration with writer Anthony Bozza who has written with Inxs, Tommy Lee and Slash.
Among controversies the book may address are an incident when she apparently asked Hollywood writer Neil Strauss to join her in snorting her husband's ashes.

Junior British and European Champions of Ballroom 13 year old Hannah Cresswell and 15 year old Luke Miller performed on Born To Shine this evening.
The young duo – who have been partners for the last four years – took to the stage on the ITV entertainment show and displayed their immense dance skills as they jived to Alexandra Burke’s Broken Heels.
However, they weren’t just invited on the show to wow the audience with their own brilliance, the young pair were also there to cheer on Emmerdale stars Tony Audenshaw and Lesley Dunlop, who they have been teaching and mentoring for the last month.
The duo are best know as Bob Hope and Brenda Walker from the ITV soap and tonight followed Luke and Hanna to the stage, to perform a jive of their own.

14 year old Sophie Plummer took to the Born To Shine stage tonight and blew the audience away with her dulcet tones.
The talented teenager gave a stunning rendition of Paolo Nutini’s ‘Last Request’ on the live ITV show and not only did she sing it beautifully, but her diction and the emotion she conveyed into her vocals, was really amazing for a girl so young.
But Plummer’s role on the show wasn’t just to showcase her own skills, she was also there to support TV presenter Dawn Porter who she has been mentoring for the last few weeks.
32 year old Dawn followed Sophie onto the stage and performed Etta James’ ‘At Last.’ Before the live show, Dawn admitted that her ears go funny when she is nervous, which didn’t bode well for the appearance.

Teenage drummer Jake Brown made his TV debut on Born To Shine this evening.
The talented musician performed to Aerosmith’s Walk This Way on the ITV entertainment show and blew the audience away with his energetic playing and perfect timing.
The 14 year old recently made it into the finals of the British Young Drummer Of The Year competition and tonight, not only did he have to take to the stage himself, but he was also there to support This Morning’s Ruth Langsford, who he spent the last month mentoring.
She had only a few weeks to master the drums and tonight, she followed Brown on stage to perform to Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin On A Prayer.’
Before the live show, Jake admitted that Ruth had come a long way, as she wasn’t ‘very good with her timing’, and it doesn’t seem like she improved in recent weeks.

Olly Murs has predicted that both Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole may make a bit of a comeback on this year’s X Factor series.
Cowell left the ITV show, to launch his new Us version, while Cole refused to rejoin the panel, after being sacked from the American series and replaced by Nicole Scherzinger.
However, new Xtra Factor presenter Olly Murs (who of course rose to fame in 2008, when he finished second behind eventual X Factor winner Joe McElderry) hopes we haven’t seen the last of either star and told Alex James on his In Demand radio show that they may return as guest mentors later in the year.
He said: “I’m really intrigued to know who are going to be the mentors this year. You can kind of guess, but I kind of have a theory on who it will be. I think Gary [Barlow] is going to have Simon [Cowell] possibly.
