Says Shravan Kumar the CEO of the Cbfc, "A screening of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! was held for Examining Committee, which recommended the grant for U/A with excisions. No request for constitution of Revising Committee has been made by the producers as on date." Dibakar says there was no reason to go to the Revising Committee. "Almost nothing was cut. Just a couple of fights...we were asked to reduce the length of those fights. I happily did that. They had absolutely no problems with the kissing or any of the other important scenes." He says he has almost never had any problem with the censor board. "Not even in politically volatile film like Shanghai. Only once have I had a quibble with the censor board. It...

Reports that Imtiaz Ali's Highway has been stopped from telecast on Doordarshan by the censor board due to its depiction of child abuse, are false. One has it from very reliable sources that the chairperson of Cbfc Pahlaj Nihalani personally intervened and cleared the film for telecast on national television for all ages. Says a source, "Though it's not official yet, the Chairperson has passed the film for Doordarshan screening without any cuts with a 'U' certificate. It was for Adults Only when screened theatrically." Giving the official version of the facts pertaining to the certification of Highway for Doordarshan the Cbfc's CEO Shravan Kumar states, "For telecast of content on Doordarshan, they have their own elaborate guidelines, which are issued by them from time to time and therefore it is not a factually correct statement to say that "the board has deemed the film unsuitable for screening on Doordarshan.

On Friday afternoon, a lot of the hostility and suspicion between the new chairperson of Pahlaj Nihalani and the Censor Board Of Film Certification (Cbfc) and the film industry dissolved when a hush-hush emergency reconciliatory meeting between the warring parties, managed to not just thaw the ice but also clear many misconceptions regarding Nihalani's censorial attitude. Therefore one board member (Ashoke Pandit)'s hue and cry that he wasn't consulted about the list is not only invalid it is also unethical."
