Six friends head to prom, enjoying life and with plans to party the night away afterwards at a secluded house. It’s horror-slasher 101, really, as a premise. Something we’ve seen and heard many times over the years. That isn’t always a bad thing though, because sometimes you want a slasher that follows a basic plot, something you can chill out with and enjoy without any real surprises. Party Night gives you that here, a modern slasher with old-school slasher values. It’s teenage care-free types, a couple of teenage serious-types, and a house off the beaten track. Add a murderous psychopath to the cocktail and Bam… you have yourself a slasher-fest.
With low-budget horror cinema there are things you expect, and if you...

Short film American Virus is part of the horror anthology Virus of the Dead. An anthology that is a long time in the making, beginning production over three years ago and now with a set release date over a year away (18th May 2019) – which means, hopefully, it will at least start to be seen by people.
At only five minutes long, American Virus is a slightly strange mix of frantic hand-held camera footage, fake news reports, people directly looking at and talking into a camera and random but relevant stock footage. Flipping between both black and white and colour on the screen. It’s not actually as bizarre as it sounds written down and it actually all gels together surprisingly well. Feeling like a hectic and exciting five minutes...

It was almost four years ago when one of my favourite directors, Albert Pyun, announced his retirement… A retirement that didn’t last long! Now on his 54th(!) film, Pyun is back behind the camera, after a brief sabbatical, once again exploring the realms of low-budget film making. In the case of his latest – Interstellar Civil War (originally titled Galactic Rangers and the Cyborg Witch of Endor And also known as Star Warfare Warriors and the Cyborg Witch of Endor) – in particular exploring the idea of intergalactic space war. Says Pyun:
I was always curious about the behind the scenes aspect of the power of a space opera. My idea was to make a Sci-Fi Galactic version of Lion in Winter or A Man for All Seasons. To explore the human perspective behind all the war and mayhem in a futuristic galactic Empire sounded fascinating. I was influenced by some...

Albert Pyun is fighting through his health issues, and nothing's more therapeutic than doing what you love so he's back behind the camera for The Interrogation of Cheryl Cooper, a one-take film for which Pyun has released a short teaser.
The Interrogation of Cheryl Cooper stars Tommie Vegas, Shane Ryan, and Brittany Bochart. It's written by Cynthia Curnan, shot by Michael Su, and produced by Su and Curnan with music and sound design by Tony Riparetti.
The film is about a young woman name Cheryl Cooper (Vegas), who wakes up in what she believes is an interrogation room in a police station. She is interrogated by Detective Ben (Ryan) about being found at an unfinished Las Vegas hotel where there was a mass killing.
The detective is assisted by a young female rookie police officer named Officer Bardo (Bochart). Both try to get the details from Cheryl, and as they do,...

Cult film fans were dismayed to learn back in August that Cyborg director Albert Pyun was stepping away from his film career due to health issues. But proving that you can't keep a good man down - or, at least, that it takes more than Ms to do it - Pyun is headed back to the director's chair just seven months after that announcement to helm single take thriller The Interrogation of Cheryl Cooper.Cheryl Cooper (Tommie Vegas) wakes up in what she believes is a interrogation room in a police station where she is interrogated by Detective Ben (Shane Ryan) and young female rookie police officer named Officer Bardo (Brittany Bochart) about being found at an unfinished Las Vegas hotel where there was a mass...

Albert Pyun's one take horror film Invasion was actually pretty bitchin', and now the filmmaker's getting set to do it again on his latest flick, The Interrogation of Cheryl Cooper.
Shooting at 4k and 3D with 7.1 soundtrack, the flick will star Tommie Vegas, Shane Ryan, and Brittany Bochart. Filming starts this Friday (March 21) at the Indie Film Factory Stage in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Want to help out in the process? The first 100 people who send an email to curnanpictures@gmail.com will be placed on a guest list see the first version of the film in an "interactive test screening" the day after shooting. Pyun will stream it online, and viewers will be able to post comments that will help shape the final version.
