Ahmed Khalifa(I)
- Producer
- Director
- Writer
After graduating with a B.A in Mass Communication, Ahmed Khalifa wanted
to focus on what he loved his whole life, filmmaking. After directing
the two short films "I" and "Midnight Prowler", he focused on being a
writer, writing the first season of the T.V series "The Circle" (which
ultimately went unproduced due to creative differences) and reworking
and rewriting his favorite script "Wingrave". He fell in love so much
with the script and the character of Henry Wingrave and his dark
experiences that he decided that it had to be his first feature.
So on he went, looking for support wherever he could find it and after a couple of years he finally secured the financing independently and began to pool all his resources to make the film. The result is "Wingrave", the first film to be produced in Egypt in English, with an all Egyptian cast and crew. Combining his love of silent films, experimentation and Gothic art, "Wingrave" was produced as an experiment in expanding the boundaries of low-budget filmmaking.
The film was released on DVD in the US and Canada on September 2007.
