"Hit and Run" producers Kim Waltrip and Jim Casey are developing an adaptation of Luanne Rice's 2002 novel "Dream Country" for their Kim and Jim Productions company says Variety.
The story centers on a couple's blissful marriage that's cut short when their three-year old son disappears while accompanying his father on a roundup in Wyoming.
Thirteen years later, the son's twin sister travels to Wyoming to discover her family's past. Rice is co-adapting the family drama with Jayce Bartok and shooting kicks off in February.

So the last time I sat down with Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, it was for "When in Rome." I can guarantee you that their new film "Hit and Run" is much, much better! Shepard wrote and co-directed the film (David Palmer was the other director), and his true-life fiancée, Kristen Bell, stars as his love interest. "Hit and Run" is a funny romantic car chase comedy, but above all, I enjoyed the characters.
In this interview, we talked about:
*** Why make "Hit and Run?"
*** Executive producer Jim Casey and Producer Kim Waltrip are from my hometown of Palm Springs, so we talked about their involvement in the film
*** My two favorite scenes in the film -- the close your eyes scene, and the first car chase scene
*** What do they want the moviegoers to take away from the film?...

If you aren’t familiar with Dax Shepard beyond Parenthood, and especially if you haven’t caught some of his more recent indie work, like The Freebie, you may be surprised by just how talented he is. Now, I don’t know if Hit and Run, the upcoming title that he wrote, co-directed, and stars in, is a surefire winner, but it looks like a lot of fun.
Coming to a theater near you on August 24th, Hit and Run is an action-comedy starring Shepard as a man whose past catches up to him when he least expects it… sort of. Unbeknownst to his fiancé (Kristen Bell), Charlie (Shepard) is in the witness protection program, and everything is about the life she thinks she’s in is about to start falling apart.
It’s from the producers of Wedding Crashers, though I’m not sure what information I want that to deliver,...
