The suspense this Super Tuesday may be in watching how all of the networks try to make the night suspenseful.
Some 16 states and one territory will vote: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Virginia. A Democratic caucus also is being held in American Samoa, and Iowa Democrats also will reveal their results.
But with Joe Biden and Donald Trump on their way to a rematch in the 2024 presidential election, coverage Tuesday will focus on margins of victory, when each candidate will clinch their nomination and what’s next from now until Election Day. There also will be attention to down-ballot races, including California’s Senate primary to fill the seat long held by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-ca).

Donald Trump flubbed a “Fox and Friends” quote by touting a segment of the Fox News show he believed was a compliment when in fact, it was actually a criticism of the former President’s campaign.
“Rachel Campos-Duffy and Will Cain, two terrific people (along with Pete Hegseth!), were right this morning on ‘Fox & Friends.’ Almost 99% of the people I support in a Republican Primary, Win!” the former President wrote on Truth Social Sunday morning, adding a quote that read, “A Trump Endorsement will Make Your Career, A Trump Fight Makes It Very Difficult!”
As it turns out, the hosts made the exact opposite point while discussing Trump’s Saturday rally in Pickens, South Carolina. During the discussion, Joey Jones, who stepped in during Hegseth’s absence, argued that the former President’s support — or lack thereof — would not “make” nor “kill” a Republican politician’s career, using his...

Last month, supporters of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential bid created a Super Pac titled Heal the Divide. On its website, the group — whose name is borrowed from Kennedy’s own campaign slogan — advises voters that “Only Robert F. Fox News was not happy with President Joe Biden’s commencement address to Howard University, which one Fox host called “pandering” and led another to declare America the “least racist country in the world.”
“Racism has long torn us apart,” Biden told the crowd during his speech to the historically Black university in Washington, D.C. on Saturday. “It’s a battle that’s never really over.” The president then called white supremacy “the most dangerous terrorist threat to our homeland,” and added, “I’m not saying this because I’m at a Black Hbcu.

President Joe Biden spent a great deal of his speech at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on the fate of journalists held in captivity, vowing, “I promise you. I am working like hell to get them home.”
Still in a tone of seriousness, Biden said, “I believe in the First Amendment, and not just because my good friend Jimmy Madison wrote it.”
It took a few beats for many of the 2,600 or so packed into the Washington Hilton subterranean ballroom that the president was making a transition to the satirical portion of his remarks. By the time that he got to a Don Lemon joke, it was on.

With all due respect to the debate over theatrical windowing, CinemaCon 2023 in Las Vegas kicked off with conversation not about movie theaters, but about much smaller screens. At Caesar’s Palace, everyone’s talking about cable news.
The dominoes dropped early and fast on Monday: First Tucker Carlson was fired by Fox News, and then Don Lemon was let go at CNN.
Carlson, who “agreed to part ways” with Fox News on Monday, and Lemon, who said in a Twitter post that he was informed by his agent that he was “terminated” by CNN, sucked up a lot of the oxygen early going amid all the Day 1 CinemaCon festivities.
If we were betting men, we’d be spending more time at the craps table — or, we would have guessed that the hot Monday topic in Vegas would be the sudden departure of NBCUniversal chief Jeff Shell, who was fired Sunday...

If you’re in the media or entertainment business, you need to have some exposure to the live event space.
Disney and NBCUniversal have their theme parks, of course, and others like Netflix have created their own live activations (Stranger Things, The Bridgerton Ball, etc). Still others have taken it a step further by trying out their own fan conventions, hoping super-fans will pony up for access to talent, merchandise and other offers. Consider WarnerMedia’s DC Fandome, or Bravo’s BravoCon.
Can a cable news channel make it work too? Fox News thinks so.
In 2019, Fox News’ streaming service Fox Nation launched an awards show for regular people called The Patriot Awards, honoring people in categories like the Most Valuable Patriot Award, the Heroism Award, and the Service to Veterans Award.
On Thursday, it will host the 4th iteration of the awards show.

Donald Trump did draw the media spotlight for his presidential announcement speech on Tuesday, but the networks varied in how they approached the event, carrying parts of it and cutting away at others.
The coverage perhaps offers a glimpse of how Trump will be covered as he embarks on his third presidential bid — certainly a top story, but not the only one.
Trump promoted the speech as “one of the most important ones in the history of our country,” but the networks alternated their focus on other stories throughout the day. That included the missile hit on Poland that, just minutes before Trump took the stage, put the focus on his nemesis, President Joe Biden.
CNN carried the speech from Mar-a-Lago for more than 20 minutes before cutting away when Trump made the official announcement. Anderson Cooper then went to a fact check with Daniel Dale, a fixture during the 2020 election cycle.

Donald Trump said from behind a podium at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday that he’s launching a campaign to take back the White House in 2024. It wasn’t exactly a rousing announcement. The former president seemed bored as he squinted at his teleprompter and regurgitated well-trod talking points about immigration, crime, the economy, and more, mixing in several rambling tangents.
The speech was so dull that even Sean Hannity cut away from it.

Fox Corp. surprised the industry on Monday by hosting an upfront programming presentation that was almost entirely pre-recorded.
About 800 attendees gathered at the Skylight venue in Lower Manhattan for the presentation that unfolded in immersive fashion across giant screens for just over an hour. Once the lengthy pre-recorded portion was finished, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier took to a platform set up in the middle of the room to address the crowd in person.
Collier then introduced Susan Sarandon, star of the network’s new drama “Monarch.” Her co-star in the country music drama, musician Trace Adkins, also came out and performed (to pre-recorded tracks) the Hank Williams Jr.classic “A Country Boy Can Survive.”
Attendees sat nightclub-style in the round at small tables. As the 4 p.m. presentation began to unspool, it became clear that the event from Fox Sports, Fox News and Fox Entertainment was going to be largely pre-recorded.

Media Matters for America, a watchdog group that focuses on right-wing media, released findings Friday that said 60% of Fox News’ summer programming undermined Covid-19 vaccines. In total, Fox News talent and guests made 840 claims undermining or downplaying the immunization effort, the report said.
The organization has been analyzing Fox News’ vaccine coverage for months. A previous report showed that 57% of segments from June 28 to July 11 downplayed or undermined the vaccine, so anti-vaccine content has increased in recent weeks.
This coincides with increased calls from some Fox News personalities, like Steve Doocy and Sean Hannity, for viewers to get vaccinated. Those calls were reported widely as an about-face for Fox News, but the Media Matters study contradicts that narrative.

Bila, who also did a stint as a co-host on ABC’s “The View,” has a new book, “Dear Hartley,” billed as a collection of 52 letters to her son that address “everything from character and empathy to parenting and friendship, from education and family to fitness and food.” The book will be published in November by Center Street, an imprint of Hachette Book Group that has a recent track record of publishing work by other conservative authors ranging from Donald Trump Jr. and Jeanine Pirro to Newt Gingrich and Pete Hegseth, who remains a co-anchor on the program Bila left.

Fox News’ Pete Hegseth on Thursday accused teachers’ union leader Randi Weingarten of advocating against inclusivity in schools — after rolling a clip of her advocating for inclusivity in schools. He later corrected his error, but not before dedicating a segment of “Fox & Friends” to his misinterpretation of her statement.
During the morning show — which averaged 1.2 million total viewers last quarter and regularly commands a large audience — Hegseth and his co-hosts first played the footage of the American Federation of Teachers president discussing critical race theory and saying, “We are committed to helping educators understand how to engage with diverse student populations, to focus on promoting racial literacy, to enable educators to advocate for racial inclusivity.”
She went on, “There are legislators, mostly from the Republican Party, who are currently bullying teachers and trying to stop us from teaching kids honest history. Maybe they’re just trying to raise the...

Fox News Channel has defied its many critics for a quarter century, surviving shocking internal scandals and weathering myriad controversies with its primetime hosts to become a profit-generating juggernaut for Rupert Murdoch. But there is no question that its traditional linear revenue base is shrinking, which is why Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch and Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott are focused on expanding the outlet’s product mix well beyond its core news and opinion content.
As more consumers cut the cord on subscriptions to traditional cable and satellite services, TV’s best-known outlets are under pressure to reshape their business operations. Cornerstones of the pay TV universe like Disney’s ESPN and WarnerMedia’s TNT are projected to see subscriber losses of 16% to 17% between 2020 and 2022. So too is Fox News.

“Let’s just hope in your life, you never need a police officer,” says “Fox & Friends” co-host
Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade said Thursday that protesters who call for defunding or abolishing the police should lose access to 911, the phone line that connects Americans to emergency services.
Obviously, there’s no real way protesters could be identified and subsequently barred from the free service, nor is that constitutional, but in a segment dedicated to the “Future of policing in America,” per an on-air “Fox & Friends” graphic, Kilmeade suggested it anyway.
“You know what? You should be barred — anyone who says that, you are no longer allowed to 911. Let’s just hope in your life, you never need a police officer,” he declared after co-host Ainsley Earhardt reviewed some recent examples of protests against police brutality and overreach, highlighting instances of demonstrators saying they want police “out” of the area.

“Fox News @ Night” host Shannon Bream thinks the timing is just right for her new book, “The Women of the Bible Speak” — and not just because it hit shelves this week days before Easter Sunday.

Fox News Media has set a three-book deal with corporate sibling HarperCollins, establishing a publishing imprint designed for the media company’s news personalities.
Pete Hegseth and Shannon Bream will kick off the initial list of authors. Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media, announced the deal Wednesday, the 24th anniversary of Fox News Channel going on the air.
HarperCollins’ Broadside Books will oversee the publishing arrangement. Fox News personalities like Bret Baier, Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, and Martha MacCallum have already published prominent books, but the goal is to create a more dedicated publishing venue for Fox talent.
Rupert Murdoch, co-chairman of Fox Corp., is executive chairman of News Corp., the print and digital media entity which controls HarperCollins and separated several years ago from Fox’s TV holdings.

“Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade on Wednesday disparaged plans by cities like Los Angeles to extend orders for residents to stay home amid the coronavirus pandemic, questioning how American the orders were at all.
“Waiting for it to be eradicated. When you first told us to bend the curve, we bent the curve, now you want it totally eradicated. I don’t know if you heard but we really can’t do that, nor can we sit on the sidelines. There is not enough toner in the country to print enough money to sustain our country to not work,” he said.

The experts have been telling us hundreds of thousands of people are going to die. Now that we’re learning more, herd immunity is our friend. Healthy people getting out there, they’re going to have to have some courage.”
The John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health published work on herd immunity relating to the coronavirus but cautioned against widespread or intentional infection. The school urged people to seek immunity through vaccination. It encouraged “continued physical distancing for an extended period.” Even with social-distancing measures being taken throughout the United States as businesses have closed down and some states have mandated residents stay home, almost 75,000 Americans have died.

Fox News’ Pete Hegseth’s day in the sun stems from his willingness to toil in a dark place.
“I don’t care about Iranian cultural sites,” Hegseth said during a Monday segment on Fox News’ The Five. Hegseth was defending President Donald Trump, as he always does, while slamming Democrats after the president twice threatened Iran with what would amount to war crimes if Iran retaliated for last week’s drone-strike assassination of general Qasem Soleimani.

The Fox Nation streaming-video service has long been touted as a new option for super-fans of the Fox News Channel. But some of the broadband hub’s new programming choices suggest adherents of “Fox & Friends” and Sean Hannity aren’t looking solely for chatter about politics and interviews with members of the Trump administration.
Subscribers to the service have recently been notified they can gain access to old TV holiday programs, such as a “Johnny Cash Christmas Special” or “Happy Holidays with Bing and Frank,”which appears to be video selection from the 1950s, when Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra visited an old castle in England.

Fox and Friends host Pete Hegseth claimed he was banned from Twitter Saturday for posting an anti-American manifesto from Pensacola shooter Mohammed Alshamrani.
Hegseth posted the screenshots Sunday showing his tweet, and said the actions were “Islamist terror.” He posted the messages from Alshamrani’s Twitter account.
Saudi military student Alshamrani killed three people and injured 12 when he opened fire at Navy Station Pensacola on Friday. The assault was filmed by several fellow Saudi cadets, several of whom went missing in the aftermath. A few others have been detained by the Us military.
“The coward posted it just hours before his terrorist attack,” Hegseth wrote. “This is Islamist terror. No reason to ever mince words. Saudi Arabia must be held to account.”
Alshamrani’s social media accounts, which have now been taken down, showed anti-Israel posts and a quote from Osama bin Laden. They also had the manifesto, which said,...
