After earning a degree in Classics and French Literature, Marie-Pierre
Macia chose to pursue a career in cinema.
She started by joining the technical team of the Cinémathèque
Française. Later she researched film conservation at American archives
including MOMA, the Library of Congress and U.C.L.A in the US.
As a film programmer, she has worked for the San Francisco
International Film Festival. Later, she served as Artistic Director of
Rencontres Internationales de Cinema a Paris and as Executive Director
of Quinzaine des Realisateurs (Directors' Fortnight) of the Cannes Film
Festival.
The City of Paris and its mayor chose her to create the new cinema
event, Paris Cinema.
During her career, she has served in the jury of many international
film festivals including Rotterdam, San Sebastian, Jerusalem, Bucharest
and Los Angeles. She was also named Chevalier des Arts et Lettres by
the French Ministry of Culture.
She is currently working as an International film festival consultant
for Palm Springs, Tribeca and Thessaloniki Film Festival as well as
being a film producer. And she is responsible for the SANAD the new
fund of Abu Dhabi Festival to help the development and post production.
