Following The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, people are pitching in names to be featured in a potential new Netflix roast.
Sports journalist Stephen A. Smith recently said that New York Jets Qb Aaron Rodgers wouldn’t be a good subject for the comedy special.
“No, because it’s easy,” Smith told the Associated Press on May 14th during the Disney Upfront presentation in New York City after the reporter suggested Rodgers. “With Tom Brady, I mean, he’s the golden boy. With Aaron Rodgers, even though I love him, a lot of people don’t. Because of that, some people will find it funny [and] some people will be intentionally cruel.”
Smith said that during Brady’s roast, “everybody up there had nothing but reverence and respect” for the retired NFL star.
In the sports realm, Smith pitched basketball stars LeBron James and Steph Curry for a roast.

As buyers touch down at Lax for the annual LA Screenings, it will be a case of a return to the norm following the unusual circumstances of last year. The Hollywood labor strikes not only threw confusion on what would be a realistic purchase, but also stopped acquisitions executives getting face time (and a quick selfie) with acting and writing talent — something many value as part of their buying process.
There will be no such issues this year, and the studio sales bosses are relishing a return to the norm. “We’re really excited, it feels like we’re really back after the strikes and firing on all cylinders,” says David Decker, President of Content Sales for Warner Bros. Discovery (Wbd). “We have an abundance of titles that run the gamut of broadcast and streaming in drama and comedy. We’ll be showing the best of what Wbd stands for.

By virtually any metric, Matt Amodio is one of the most successful quiz show contestants of all time.
The Medina, Ohio native, who now works as a quantitative researcher in New York, burst onto the trivia scene in 2021 with a commanding performance on American game show institution Jeopardy! Amodio would go on to dot his name all over the hallowed Jeopardy! record books, winning 38 consecutive games (third most all time), taking in $1,518,601 in prize-winnings (also third most all time), and finishing third in the inaugural Jeopardy! Masters tournament in 2023.
Now Amodio has returned for the second installment of Jeopardy! Masters alongside familiar competitors James Holzhauer, Amy Schneider, and Mattea Roach; and fresh faces Victoria Groce and Yogesh Raut. This time around, however, the ultra-champ hasn’t done too well. After five episodes (consisting of 10 games), Amodio finds himself in last place – hammering home just how challenging Jeopardy! has become and...

Exclusive: Saturday Night Live star Ego Nwodim has been tapped as the female lead opposite Adam Pally and Stephen Curry in the single-camera Peacock comedy series Mr. Throwback. Her casting is not expected to impact her duties on the NBC sketch comedy series, which is in the same corporate family.
The Mr. Throwback mocumentary, from Happy Endings creator David Caspe and writing duo Matthew Libman and Daniel Libman, centers on Danny (Happy Endings alum Pally), a down-on-his-luck memorabilia dealer who looks for redemption by reuniting with his sixth-grade teammate, NBA great Steph Curry.
Nwodim will play Kimberly, Steph’s childhood friend, business partner, manager and essentially his overall handler. Kimberly, Steph, and Danny all grew up together, and while Kimberly is happy to see Danny pop back up in their lives, he’s not about to let Steph get taken advantage of by any of Danny’s schemes.

Kendrick Lamar and Drake‘s feud is escalating rapidly.
The 36-year-old rapper called the 37-year-old Canadian superstar a “pedophile” in a new diss track called “Not Like Us,” released less than 24 hours after his headline-making “Meet The Grahams.”
The cover art shows Drake‘s home with sex offender beacons.
“Why you trollin’ like a bitch? Ain’t you tired? / Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A-Minor,” he raps in the song, accusing Drake of liking his women young. “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles.”
He released “Meet The Grahams” earlier in the weekend, warning Lebron James and Steph Curry to keep their families away from Drake because he’s a “pervert.” He also accuses Drake of having a secret daughter: “You lied about your son, you lied about your daughter, huh.”
A source close to Drake tells TMZ that the allegation about a secret child is an “utter fabrication.

Ayesha Curry, entrepreneur, cookbook author, and wife of NBA superstar Steph Curry, isn’t afraid to speak her mind. But one past public appearance left a sour taste in her mouth. In 2019, Curry made a guest appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s talk show, “Red Table Talk”.
A still from Irish Wish
The show, known for its candid discussions about relationships and personal struggles, seemed like a perfect fit for Curry to open up. However, what unfolded after the filming wasn’t what Curry expected. She almost felt betrayed after her comments came out entirely different after the final editing of the interview.

Ayesha Curry‘s interview on Red Table Talk back in 2019 was meant to be a candid conversation of her talking about the challenges of mental health and motherhood.

Netflix’s Good Times reboot has drawn ire from audiences and national organizations such as the NAACP for its perceived stereotypical depictions of African Americans since its trailer was first released on March 27. That same day, a Change.org petition, which has gathered some 5,000 signatures, was launched calling on viewers to boycott the new show which “promotes violence, culture destruction of the Black community and alcohol abuse,” the creator of the petition wrote.

Adrian Vazquez bought a couch.

When he rings us up for his interview, he’s sitting sprawled against it, and so is his dog, a Great Pyrenees mix named Popcorn. The couch is important not just because it represents a milestone in Vazquez’s career, but also because it features front and center in the marketing for his new home goods brand Homebody.

This isn’t the Good Times of your childhood.
Yvette Nicole Brown, who voices the character of Beverly Evans in the new animated version of Good Times for Netflix, promises it will be an “edgier, more irreverent” reboot of Norman Lear‘s groundbreaking TV sitcom.
After one of Brown’s followers wrote on X Wednesday that “I’m surprised you attached yourself to this project. Looks nothing like the show we grew up on,” Brown responded with a promise that the reboot will offer as much, if not more, than the original.
“This show is edgier and more irreverent than the Good Times of our childhood but it’s still a show about family, fighting the system and working to make things better despite where you start out in the world,” Brown wrote. “That 100% lines up with my values.”

The action that occurs during NBA All-Star weekend includes the All-Star Celebrity Game, the Skills Challenge, the Slam Dunk contest, and the 3-Point Contest. In 2024, a new idea to incorporate came about: Stephen vs. Sabrina 3-Point Challenge.
That challenge will see Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry and the WNBA’s New York Liberty superstar Sabrina Ionescu faceoff in their own 3-point competition after the NBA 3-Point Contest and before the Slam Dunk Contest.
Even the casual NBA fan knows a bit about Curry and his family, but what about Ionescu’s life off the court? Here’s more on her contest with Curry and why you might recognize her fiancé Hroniss Grasu.
Curry and Ionescu came up with the idea after he commented on social media

Peacock has given straight-to-series order to Mr. Throwback, a mockumentary comedy headlined by NBA star Steph Curry and Happy Endings alum Adam Pally. The pickup for the project, from Happy Endings creator David Caspe and writing duo Matthew Libman and Daniel Libman, was announced Wednesday at TCA along with three drama series orders by Peacock.
As Deadline reported exclusively last April, Mr. Throwback was originally set up at NBC for development. A couple of years ago, NBCUniversal installed a centralized development team for NBC, the company’s basic cable networks and Peacock, with projects sometimes shepherded well into development before a decision is made which platform it would go to.
Additionally, NBC in the past year or so has taken a turn toward multi-camera comedies, which cost less to produce than single-camera shows. All of the network’s existing three half-hour series, Night Court, Lopez vs. Lopez and Extended Family,...

Simu Liu is going back to the future. Well, like, five minutes into the future.
Peacock has given a straight-to-series order for an untitled espionage series starring Liu, in which the “Barbie” actor will play first-generation-American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale. He realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears.
James Wan is among the executive producers on the series, which was written and created by Thomas Brandon (“Legacies”). Other EPs on the project include Michael Clear and Rob Hackett from Wan’s Atomic Monster. Danielle Bozzone will oversee the project for the production company, which recently merged with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse.
Wan/Atomic Monster and UCP/Peacock are already collaborating on a contemporary horror thriller now titled “Teacup.” Ian McCulloch is writing that one, and executive producing alongside Wan.

Exclusive: David Meese, a scripted TV agent at WME who represents the likes of Tom Segura, Joel Kim Booster, Deon Cole and Emily Heller, has been promoted to partner at the agency.
Meese was surprised by his 5-year old twin daughters with the news during a staff meeting.
It comes almost six years after he joined WME from APA, where he spent nearly ten years.
He told Deadline that he expects there to be a comedy “boom” in the coming years. “People are realizing comedy is evergreen and people want to laugh, especially in times of trying and I think it’s all cyclical. It’s going to be coming back and have a big boom over the next couple of years,” he said.
He predicted buyers will lean more towards comedy, which is inherently cheaper to produce than drama as they get “more bang for their buck”.

It’s a great season to be a Minnesota Timberwolves fan, with the team currently leading the NBA‘s Western Conference. Stars Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards have undeniable chemistry; veteran Mike Conley shows real leadership on the court; center Rudy Gobert is gunning for his fourth Defensive Player of the Year award. This is the kind of basketball you can get excited about.
But the Timberwolves have an additional, not-so-secret weapon you won’t see at the Target Center in Minneapolis. In fact, he’s never even been there.

For the past decade, A24 has cultivated an almost cultlike devotion from its fans, thanks to its excellent taste in projects and idiosyncratic, meme-able movies like “The Witch,” “Uncut Gems” and “Midsommar.” Their films inspire such interest that their features usually come with a curated, highly sought-after merchandise drop that fans can purchase via their official website.
But a new strategy — which includes chasing the rights to the “Halloween” franchise — could land them in a place that, for all their big swings, they’ve never been before: the mainstream.
According to a top agent with knowledge of the company, over the summer A24 acquisition executive Noah Sacco made the talent agency rounds in search of “action and big IP projects.” The studio, the agent told TheWrap, is “deemphasizing the traditional character/auteur driven dramas.”

Sam Bankman-Fried had a plan to save humanity, and he would need celebrities to pull it off. In Going Infinite, Michael Lewis’ newly released account of Bankman-Fried’s vertiginous rise and fall, The Big Short and Moneyball author explains how the disgraced crypto tycoon — now in jail awaiting trial on fraud charges — claims to have been motivated by the tenets of effective altruism to earn billions so that he might give his fortune away to stave off existential risks such as an A.I. apocalypse.
