“Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” (2013) and “Dangal” (2016) are both biographical films based on the lives of Indian sportspersons. However, while representing actual events, the two films — either directly or indirectly — highlight various themes about sports arenas in India being extremely gendered spaces. He doesn't have to try too hard. His audience can't hold back a chuckle when he doles out a mere one liner or tiny twist of expression. Sunil Grover makes comedy seem like a cakewalk.
"I think I am lucky. I am lucky that people laugh at what I say. So, there is nothing else to it. We all have to do our work and create our jokes, and how to render it and how to approach it. I love it. Maybe the love for it makes it work sometimes," said Sunil.
The 43-year-old funnyman gained the spotlight for his portrayals of Gutthi, Dr Mashoor Gulati and Rinku Devi on television.
He has also featured in films such as "Bharata, "Gabbar Is Back", "Patakha" and "Baaghi", among many others.
"I love what I do and that is a tool. This is something which is not imposed. I can't do anything else.

In ancient times, cavemen used to worship nature. It comes as no surprise since that was something that they were surrounded by but found themselves to be grateful for. Faith and beliefs came as a result of either devotion or fear towards anything that couldn’t be made sense of. Whether we choose to call it paganism or animism, no matter which term we use for such practices; they were the basic sources towards the formation of a religion. That mystery about surrounding is omnipresent and still has a devoted inclination in certain areas. Anay Tarnekar’s ‘The Kill’ works on similar notions with its implication in the contemporary world.
“The Kill” depicts a present-day narrative from underdeveloped India. Adivasis (tribal men) are one of the minorities from Indian socio-economic strata, who have been historically robbed off from any sources of betterment. A man who belongs to such class spends...

There is something sinisterly dishonourable about honorable killing. Films on the theme, notably Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat (which does appear overrated in hindsight and which serves as the current film’s main source of inspiration) and its poor remake Dhadak have attempted to capture the sheer barbarism of the act of killing love by butchering lovers.
I think this oddly entitled film succeeds in putting across the theme with a shudder of disgust and dismay. There is a sense of dread running through the narrative as the privileged upperclass girl Janhvi (newcomer Jyoti Kapoor) elopes with the underprivileged sugarcane juice vendor Sonu (debutant Bhavesh Kumar).
The lovers are callow, clumsy and shortsighted. There is a fantastic sequence post-interval where a sexually experienced woman (played with gusto by Neha Joshi) wonders why the young...

Following the “guidelines” of the extremely popular in the 80’s Hollywood (still actually) theme of the “underdog who succeeds against all odds” and combining it with the equally popular concept of the “true story”, Nitesh Tiwari has come up with a highly entertaining movie, which eventually became a huge commercial success. “Dangal” became the highest-grossing Indian film ever, the fifth highest grossing non-English film ever, and 2017’s highest-grossing sports film worldwide. Produced on a budget of ₹70 crore (Us$11 million), the film grossed over ₹2,100 crore (Us$320 million) worldwide, including more than ₹1,300 crore (Us$200 million) in Chinese markets, becoming one of China’s top 20 highest-grossing films and the highest-grossing non-English foreign film in China. The film has also been watched about 400 million times on Chinese streaming platforms.

Exclusive/Film Bazaar: Girish Kulkarni to star in sequel to 2013 neo-noir thriller.
Writer-director Nikhil Mahajan is working on a sequel to his 2013 Marathi language neo-noir thriller Pune 52.
“The scripting is done, the finance is in place. We are just waiting for [actor] Girish Kulkarni to become free,” said Mahajan, whose last film release was the 2015 vigilante film Baji.
“The sequel will thematically follow what happened in the last film but the character played by Girish will not be the same,” Mahajan added.
He also continues to develop Hindi-language project Daily (Dainik), which was announced in 2013. Mahajan said, “It’s a period film set in the 1970s so I need a decent budget. We have about 60% of the finance and are trying to raise the rest of the funds.”
After the Pune 52 sequel, Mahajan will also work on sugar factory politics film Factory (Kaarkhaana). Producers are Suhrud Godbole’s Ime Motion Pictures and Mahajan’s Blue Drop Films.

Producer Rakesh Roshan is already looking at a release date for his film Kaabil. To be directed by Sanjay Gupta, Kaabil will be shot and completed in three months at a stretch from April-June. However, the release will only happen next year. Explains Rakesh Roshan, "All the major release dates this year are already taken. So we've reserved January 26, 2017 as the release date for Kaabil. We are in no hurry release our film." And no, Kaabil has no patriotic flavour to go with the Republic Day mood. About the unlikely merger of the Roshans with Sanjay Gupta, Rakesh says, "Sanjay Gupta narrated a story written by Vijay Mishra which both Hrithik Roshan and I liked. It is something Hrithik has not done before. It is in the thriller genre. But it's different, and yet mainstream, somewhat like the films that I direct which are massy and yet removed from the expected.

Umesh Kulkarni’s much-awaited film Highway has now been shifted to 28th August 2015.
Explaining why, the acclaimed filmmaker shares, “One of the reason we postponed the film is because there were not enough screens available to release the film. Anyways there is always a problem in getting prime slots for Marathi films and with Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan still running on the main shows, we decided to wait it out.” Taking the change of release dates in his stride, the filmmaker isn’t complaining as he adds, “The shift also gave us some time to work on the title animation properly.”
Produced by Vinay Vaman Ganu and co-produced by Arbhaat films, Highway – Ek Selfie Aarpar is a journey of self-discovery and doesn’t have one or two, but 30 lead actors, including Huma Qureshi, Tisca Chopra, Girish Kulkarni, Renuka Shahane, Mukta Barve, Sunil Barve, Kishore Kadam, Nagraj Manjule to name a few.

The year 2012 won't be that easy to be eased from the memory of Saif Ali Khan because it was during this year he had allegedly punched am Nri businessman during an altercation that had taken place between the duo at Mumbai's Taj Hotel. This had resulted in the businessman filing a legal case against Saif Ali Khan. Even though the hearing of the case had been scheduled for April 6 this year, it had to be deferred because Saif was unable to appear. The next hearing is now on July 27. Speaking about the case, Girish Kulkarni (Saif Ali Khan's lawyer) said that it was a compoundable aspect under Section 325, wherein a mediation is permissible with the permission of the court and that was why the court had suggested it. While Saif was ready for the same, the Public Prosecutor had also suggested the same to Iqbal Sharma (the complainant). What...

Ugly ugly hai biwi, ugly ugly hai husband, ugly ugly hai friends U G L Y, ugly ugly hai rishety, ugly ugly hai kishtey, ugly ugly hai duniya U G L Y. These lines penned by Vineet Singh for the title track summarise the world Anurag Kashyap brings to screen with his latest release. However, as always the world he puts on the screen sadly has very little to do with the fact the writer/director is a creative genius, but more to do with the fact that he observes life very closely. The ugly characters, the ugly situations and the ugly relationships are almost too confrontational because they remind you of things in your lives, your friends’ lives or something you’ve read or heard. After all, truth is stranger than fiction.

Director Anurag Kashyap is known for his quirky and sharp sense of humor, and now he’s all set to take on Bollywood’s item songs. The new song video of Ugly, called ‘Nichod de‘, mocks item songs and their corny music and lyrics. This hilariously tacky video features Bollywood hottie Surveen Chawla in the avatar of a sultry student seducing her professor in a library.
The song video is interspersed with laugh-out-loud scenes where Inspector Jadhav (played by Girish Kulkarni) tries hard to describe the song to his boss Acp Bose (played by Ronit Roy) who is trying to find the whereabouts of an item song dancer Rakhi Malhotra (played by Surveen Chawla). The song is sung by Bharka Swaroop Saxena & G.V. Prakash Kumar, lyrics of this song are written by Gaurav Solanki with music by G.V. Prakash Kumar.
