The upcoming film Deadpool and Wolverine will see the official integration of the X-Men into the MCU. With Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Jennifer Garner reprising their respective roles from the Fox franchise, the MCU will finally feature mutants along with the rest of the Marvel roster.
However, one actor who deserves to get a second shot at the character is James Marsden, who played Scott Summers a.k.a Cyclops in the X-Men films. Marsden played the role in the first three films of the franchise and had a cameo in X-Men: Days of Future Past. However, the actor reportedly always felt that he never fit into the role as much.

“You’re like one of those brainwashed missionaries,” Georgia Eyers’ character Lara fumes to her husband Ron (Dan Ewing). Her remark cuts deep into Ron’s faith. But he never wavers. He doubles down on his delusions, even if they harm those he loves. The conversation, during which Lara convulses and seemingly switches personalities, brings up questions about blind religion, science, and mental health. Throughout Godless: The Eastfield Exorcism, director Nick Kozakis confronts extremism and how it so easily spreads like a contagion.
Set in 1994, the film takes place in Eastfield, Australia and follows Lara and Ron as they contend with Lara’s ailing mental health and Ron’s belief that it’s a spiritual matter. Lara has been found more than once dancing naked on the front lawn. She’s been hallucinating, mostly images of a horned beast with scaly, fiery-red skin. While...

Exorcism horror movies tend to adhere to the blueprint established by The Exorcist, using possession to renew faith among the faithless over the soul of an innocent. Godless: The Eastfield Exorcism aims to flip the script, reframing the harrowing nature of an exorcism through the lens of religious fanaticism, dialed up to an extreme, tragic degree. It makes for an effectively uncomfortable watch, but its true crime source inspiration diminishes its impact.
Set in the small town of Eastfield in 1994, Godless introduces married couple Ron (Dan Ewing) and Lara (Georgia Eyers) months into their exasperated search to relieve Lara of troubling delusions and peculiar behaviors, including dancing naked under the moonlight. The profoundly devout Ron snaps at the latest mental health professional and decides it’s time to seek a spiritual intervention from his fanatical religious community. Lara doesn’t quite share the same level of devotion as her husband,...

I was surprised that Devil Beneath managed to stealthily fly under my radar, I’m a fan of both monster movies and of writer/director Luke Sparke. It took me about five minutes to realize why I hadn’t heard anything about it, it’s not a new movie.
Devil Beneath is Sparke’s first feature Red Billabong, which he shot in 2016, edited down from an hour and fifty-three minutes to an hour and a half and given a new score. While I was disappointed that it wasn’t a new film, I had been meaning to rewatch Red Billabong since the Occupation films were released but never got around to it. Among the first batch of projects I wrote about when I first joined Arrow in the Head back in 2015 was an Australian creature feature called Red Billabong, which was described as being like “an Australian Jurassic Park“. The movie was released in its home country back in 2016, but never managed to make its way over to the U.S. But its North American fortunes are changing now, as the film has been acquired by Vertical Entertainment and they’re planning to give it a digital release in North America on January 13th. Red Billabong has been re-edited, re-mixed, re-scored, and retitled for this new release. It’s now going by the title Devil Beneath.
A press release notes that Devil Beneath has nothing to do with The Devil Below, another movie Vertical released last year.

A horror film is coming your way, from the Australian outback. The film is titled Red Billabong. From director Luke Sparke, the film's first trailer shows a large monster, bearing down on two brothers. The clip also bounces around quite a bit as the two brothers do their best to defend themselves and their friends. Red Billabong is slated for a theatrical release, in Australia, this summer. Fans of b-movies or of indie horror can view the entire trailer here. Shot in Queensland, Australia, the clip shows more of this country's amazing wild spaces. The clip also shows a number of scenes shot at night. The darkness masks the creature, which looks to make a meal of the characters. The creature has been rendered by a computer. But, the monster does appear monstrous in temperament and size. Fans of creature features can find more on the film past the break.

Calling Professor X: I need a mind wipe, stat. It’s going to be difficult to get over the mental images I have of Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm in movie form. They’ve only really been Famke Janssen, James Marsden and Halle Berry. They have all been portrayed in younger form, too — Jean Grey by Haley Ramm in X-Men: The Last Stand, Cyclops/Scott Summers by Tim Pocock in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Storm/Ororo Munroe in a deleted scene from the latter — but most fans hate those movies so even if those actors weren’t merely flashback and bit roles, they wouldn’t be employed for featured use of these three characters in their early years. So, instead, we’ve got some more notable young stars cast as the X-trio for the next installment, X-Men: Apocalypse. Game of Thrones redhead Sophie Turner is Jean, Mud and Joe and The Tree of Life’s Tye Sheridan is...

Director Bryan Singer already said that "X-Men: Apocalypse" will mostly focus on the younger X-Men team. And now comes word that the helmer is in talks with several actors to play the roles of Jean Grey and Cyclops. For the role of Jean Grey, the list of actresses includes Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass), Elle Fanning (Maleficent) and Hailee Steinfelf (True Grit). For the role of Cyclops, the actors being considered are Ben Hardy (EastEnders), Charlie Rowe (Never Let Me Go) and Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar). Singer has already met with some of actors, but is still considering others, including unknowns. Famke Janssen played Jean Grey in five "X-Men" movies, with Haley Ramm portraying the character in "X-Men: The Last Stand." Cyclops, aka Scott Summers, has been portrayed by James Marsden in four films and by Tim Pocock in "X-Men: Origins: Wolverine."...

A few weeks ago we showed you a 30 second cut of a Doritos Crash the Super Bowl ad entry written and produced by The Lane Twins and starring fabulous gay fireplug Leslie Jordan. They’ve just released an extended cut of their video and we thought it deserved sharing.
(Excepting a recent, terribly-written voiceover part on Supernatural, just about everything is better with a little Leslie Jordan.)
Eagle-eyed viewers might also spot actor Tim Pocock from NBC’s Camp and male models Joel Rush and Nick Ayler.
Enjoy!

Summertime is an unusual time of year for television. Major networks have shunned it for decades using it to rerun their top TV shows or to burn-off less successful TV shows. But as more and more cable networks began to prove that summer runs and launches of TV shows could carve out a nice chuck of the advertising revenue, the competition during summer months began to heat up. CBS had a big summer with the Stephen King series “Under The Dome” (well, that is until the infamous CBS/Time Warner fee dispute blew up). NBC dabbled with new summer shows with “Crossing Lines” and “Camp.” ABC already cracked into the summer season a few years back with “Rookie Blue” and debuted its latest Canadian series “Motive” this summer as well. Yet while the big 5 networks were still hesitant to jump in full-throttle with new original scripted programming, the cable networks...

NBC’s summer series Camp has turned on the sizzle with the romance between Robbie (Tim Pocock) and Sarah (Dena Kaplan), childhood sweethearts considering their future together beyond their carefree summer days. In a recent exclusive interview, star Tim Pocock shared what he loves about this fun series and playing the ultimate good-guy who may get his heart-broken.
So what drew you to Camp and the role of Robbie Matthews?
Tim: I got the script back in January and I was originally going to audition for the role of Cole. I liked the script, as it was really funny and well-written. But when I told my agents, “I really like this Robbie guy,” they were like, “Well, let’s just wait and see what age range they are going to be looking at.” Luckily enough, the stars aligned and I got the role.
What do you most admire about Robbie?...

NBC’s new dramedy Camp — not to be confused with USA’s reality series Summer Camp, which premieres tonight, even though the conflicting promos certainly do their best — debuted Wednesday. I love Rachel Griffiths and therefore want to love this, but I’m not quite sold, not yet. The show seemed to want to project a “freakish outdoorsy cult mentality,” but I mostly saw people sitting around fabulously lit-from-all-sides bonfires and kids interrupting their parents during somewhat juicy sex talk. (Wait, they’re at a “family camp”? What is this, Dirty Dancing? Ooh, I wish.)

Chicago – Here are a few words that adequately describe NBC’s “Camp,” a Summer series premiering this Wednesday, July 10, 2013 — “Likable,” “Amiable,” “Cute,” “Fun.” It’s not designed to challenge your dramatic expectations and delivers exactly what you’d expect it to deliver but the cast has some notable stand-outs and the whole thing has the feel of a long weekend away in the Summer — fun while it lasts if not overly memorable.
Television Rating: 3.0/5.0
At its best, “Camp” is reminiscent of the best shows of ABC Family. It’s a program designed to engage both teens and adults. In fact, it’s closer to a soap opera than viewers may first expect with its counselors in training looking for some action and its camp manager who can’t figure out her own love life. Star Rachel Griffiths has become such a veteran at this kind of thing after hits like...

When Camp premieres in the Us on NBC next Wednesday at 10pm, few if any viewers will know the series set in a Us summer camp was shot in Australia with an Aussie cast.
Just how many Americans tune in, and how they respond, will be fascinating to see.
Executives from the Australian networks who saw the pilot episode at the La Screenings say the show has a flawed premise and has little or no hope of drawing an audience, at least in Australia.
Created by Liz Heldens (Friday Night Lights) and Peter Elkoff (Gossip Girl), it stars Rachel Griffiths as Mack Granger, the newly-divorced camp director/owner who is looking for a fresh start.
Rodger Corser plays Aussie Roger Shepard (all the other characters are American) who owns an upscale camp across the lake. He offers to buy her out and a love-hate relationship ensues. In the pilot there...

There's a fun new show coming to NBC this summer -- "Camp," starring Rachel Griffiths as Mackenzie Granger, the owner and director of Little Otter Family Camp, "where Mother Nature and human nature collide."
The show description from the network has us seriously excited about this summer romp:
Still reeling from her recent divorce, Mackenzie is ready for a fresh start. She is running things on her own for the first time and scrambling to keep the cash-strapped Little Otter from going under. She considers a buyout offer from Roger Shepard (Rodger Corser, "Underbelly"), the arrogant but sexy owner of the upscale camp across the lake. Despite her better judgment, their love-hate relationship quickly escalates. Meanwhile, she begins to realize that her charming but much younger handyman, Cole (Nikolai Nikolaeff, "Sea Patrol"), might be interested in more than just a professional relationship.

We've known since early June that Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson has been rumored for a role in the upcoming X-Men: First Class. While the the evidence was weak (a photograph of Vaughn, Johnson and James McAvoy leaving a building together), it did make sense, as Vaughn directed Johnson's last feature and the actor is the appropriate age to join the group. Now we might know what character he could be playing. AICN has received a tip from a source referring to himself as "Son of Rothman" saying that Johnson will play Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops, in the upcoming Fox film. The source claims that the news is "one hundred percent locked at this point," and it has been known for a while that Vaughn was planning on recasting the role, not using Tim Pocock who played the part in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Now that we know that he...

Jane Goldman is bringing some Kick-Ass style to the script for X-Men: First Class, which is set to hit cinemas in June 3, 2011.
The screenwriter's husband, TV and radio presenter Jonathan Ross, revealed the news on his Twitter page.
The mutant prequel is being directed by Matthew Vaughn, with whom Jane (pictured) previously collaborated on Stardust and Kick-Ass. She was also a producer on the latter.
Ross wrote: "The wife is away writing X-Men 4 so I am off to bed with little Sweeney alone. He will keep my feet warm and my spirits high."
In a further tweet, he clarified: "Also, for those who need to know, my wife Is currently writing X-Men: First Class. It's just referred to as X-Men 4 around the house..."
He later added: "I am afraid I better not answer any more queries re X-Men: First Class for fear of spoilers and also possible divorce. Thank you.

20th Century Fox recently announced that Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) has been signed to direct "X-Men: First Class," which is set to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2011. Bryan Singer is producing. Since there isn't much time to waste, the studio has already started the casting process. THR is reporting that Singer has been also casting "Jack and the Giant Killer" and has been using this as an opportunity to look for potential X-Men. Word is that he has been looking at actors who may be qualified to play a young Cyclops and young Jean Grey. Tim Pocock, who played Cyclops in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," has previously revealed that he'll return for "First Class." But now it looks like Singer may want to re-cast him and Tahyna Tozzi, who played Emma Frost. Stay tuned.

With "Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaughn officially locked and loaded for "X-Men: First Class" with a release date scheduled for June 3, 2011, it's time to start thinking about the next major piece of the puzzle: casting.
One of the concerns with "First Class" is its status as a prequel to the original "X-Men" trilogy. How faithful does it have to be to the established continuity of producer Bryan Singer's "X-Men" films? Do we need actors that look like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan and the rest? Are Bobby Drake and Warren Worthington off the roster since they were new to the team in the first three films?
For my tastes, I think original continuity isn't as important as coming up with the best movie possible, though it's nice to honor Singer's efforts wherever possible. With that in mind, here are a few casting suggestions I would make for some of the possible "First Class" players.

It's official, folks — Bryan Singer is returning to the mutant movie franchise he built up in the first place with "X-Men: First Class."
Singer's filmmaking journey has had its ups and downs — leaving the "X-Men" series for "Superman Returns," only to find that his vision didn't quite fly with mainstream moviegoers — but all of those experiences should only help the director as he settles back in for his take on Cyclops, Jean Grey and Professor Xavier's other gifted youths.
Still, here's hoping that Singer keeps the following few things in mind as he begins preparations on "First Class."
Changing History: While "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," set decades before Singer's first film, reflected the continuity of the initial "X-Men" trilogy, I hope that Singer realizes he doesn't have to adhere to that cinematic continuity. If, like me, you were left feeling a little hard done by with the so-so X-Men: The Last Stand then how about some good news? It seems that the series’ original director and the man arguably responsible for the comic book movie revival, Bryan Singer will be making a return to the series!
It was on the blue carpet for Avatar’s La premiere that Singer dropped the X-bomb, telling reporters he’d signed to direct Fox’s X-Men Origins: First Class. In fact, to quote the man himself:

Thanks to twitter, it's getting easier for fans to stay up-to-the-minute with their favorite singers, actors, and artists ... and harder and harder for producers and movie studios to keep information under wraps. Last week, it appeared as if actor Tim Pocock had leaked the news that X-Men: First Class would begin shooting in February, but producer Lauren Shuler Donner quickly snuffed the rumor.
Yesterday, more X-film news was spread via twitter thanks to Rob Liefeld, the co-creator of Marvel Comics' Deadpool, including the fact that the "Merc with a Mouth" will appear in costume and that Ryan Reynolds, who recently signed on to play Green Lantern in a competing production, will be revisiting his X-Men Origins: Wolverine role of Wade "Deadpool" Wilson in the solo film.
Great Deadpool movie meeting! Lauren Schuler Donner and her team are headed in the right direction!

X-Men producer Lauren Schuler Donner has dismissed Tim Pocock's claim that he has already been cast in prequel First Class. The 23-year-old was featured as the younger version of Cyclops (played by James Marsden) from the original trilogy in X-Men Origins: Wolverine earlier this year. He had written on his Twitter account last week that he is cast in the forthcoming X-Men: First Class, which is to begin production after February 2010. Donner has (more)...
