Very sad news came Wednesday with the revelation that Stephen Boss aka “tWitch,” has passed away at just 40 years old. The dancer first came to prominence after he was runner-up on So You Think You Can Dance Season 4, which led to his eight years as the DJ, dance-in-residence, and eventual executive producer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He met his wife, Allison Holker on Sytycd Season 7, and they married in 2013, sharing three children together. In Season 17, he served as a judge on the long-running dance series, alongside Leah Remini and JoJo Siwa. In honor of his years of incredible work onstage, here are some of tWitch’s most memorable performances on the show. His First Audition on So You Think You Can Dance Season 3 His Second Audition on Sytycd Season 4 “Mercy” with Katee Shean — Season 4 “Dreaming With a Broken Heart” with Kherington Payne — Season 4 “Ukrainian/Russian Trepak” with Joshua Allen...

Cinema Management Group (Cmg) is handling "Born to Dance" for worldwide sales and is coming off a good Toronto where it licensed the film in a number of international territories. U.S. rights are still available.
"Born to Dance," directed by Tammy Davis, starring Tia-Taharoa Maipi, Stan Walker and Kherington Payne, premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. Picture is choreographed by 8 time Hip Hop International champion and one of Janet Jackson’s "Unbreakable" tour choreographers, Parris Goebel.
"Born to Dance" is the story of Tu Kaea (champion hip hop dancer Tia Maipi) who has the chance to audition for K-Crew, the best hip hop crew in the country, but he has to go behind the backs of his home crew and his best friend Benjy (Stan Walker: Mt Zion, The X Factor Nz). Things get even more complicated when he starts falling for Sasha (Kherington Payne: Fame, The Dance Scene), the girlfriend of K-Crew’s leader. When Tu’s old crew and new crew clash, he has to make a decision that will change his life forever. Caught between who he is and who he wants to be, Tu must find the strength to make his own breaks.

I'll be honest, I didn't quite expect the extent of the excitement in response to our exclusive clip from "Born To Dance," the New Zealand dance movie that's making its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. It seems there is some buzz brewing around the film, and here's another opportunity to check it out with the new trailer that just landed. Much of the chatter with the picture has to do with world-renowned choreographer Parris Goebel, who has worked with Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, and Cirque Du Soleil, among others, and put together all the hot moves on display in this film directed by Tammy Davis. The filmmaker enlists Tia-Taharoa Maipi, Stan Walker, and Kherington Payne to tell the story of Maori teen at a crossroads in his life. He decides to risk it all and pursue a career in dance, and faces resistance from his father, while...

Home of the Brave: Duran’s Debut a Neutered Examination of Grief During Wartime
There’s a war going on, though not one specifically referenced, mentioned or discussed. But then Daniel Duran’s directorial debut, Bravetown, seems happy examining exactly that, the ways in which people are unable to communicate clearly their emotions relating to the traumas that war has inflicted on them. Perhaps in an effort to elevate the material to a timeless realm, screenwriter Oscar Orlando Torres (Instructions Not Included) remains curiously vague on details, the only definitive reference pertaining to the Gulf War.
Josh Harvest (Josh Till) is a moderately troubled teen living with his single mother (Maria Bello) in New York. A rising DJ, a mistaken overdose lands him in court with a mandated sentence of twelve months rehabilitation. His overworked mother is done worrying about him and sends him off to live with his...

Leading sales agent Cinema Management Group (Cmg) has announced that "Born To Dance," a fresh take on the hip hop dance genre, began shooting on Monday in Auckland, New Zealand.
The feature is choreographed by eight-time World Hip Hop Championships winner Parris Goebel, a faculty member of Monsters of Hip Hop, and recent star in her own right of "Step Up All In."
U.S. bombshell Kherington Payne plays Sasha, the female lead in the multi-million dollar feature. Kherington was propelled to fame with her top ten placing in the hit Us reality show So You Think You Can Dance, which led to a principal role as Alice in the 2009 remake of feature film "Fame." She was also the lead in E! Networks docu-drama The Dance Scene, and was a principal dancer for Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream tour.
"Born To Dance" is a coming of age tale told through the eyes of ‘Tu’, an ambitious young man from Auckland who dreams of being a professional hip hop dancer. When he is invited to audition for the best crew in the country, and meets their leading lady Sasha, his dreams begin to turn to reality.
Australasian superstar Stan Walker will play the role of Benjy, Tu’s best friend. Walker shot to fame when he won the first season of Australian Idol and has since cemented his stardom with multiple platinum albums, appearing as a judge on The X Factor New Zealand, and a leading role in the 2013 feature film "Mt Zion."
Tammy Davis will direct, following from his award-winning shorts "Ebony Society" and "Sonny, My Older Brother." New discovery Tia Maipi, a member of world championship hip hop crew The Royal Family, will take on his first major acting role playing Tu.
Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post are the post-production partner, while Vendetta Films will distribute in Aus/Nz. Edward Noeltner’s Cinema Management Group begin world sales at the upcoming Afm. Noeltner says:
“We are very excited to be selling this high energy, exotic and incredibly choreographed film to the buyers at Afm. We are confident this will pick up where the Step Up franchise left off, and we see this as the next international music and dance sensation with terrific worldwide box office potential.”

Nicole Scherzinger thinks everyone is The Pussycat Dolls. The singer is the only remaining original member of the group but insists she has no idea what the future holds for them, despite founder and manager Robin Antin recently hiring four new women to join Nicole.
"I don't know what's going on with that. There's always the speckles [speculations]," Nicole said when asked about the rest of the group being recast. "There's the Dolls from the lounge and Vegas and all that, so I'd say everyone is a Pussycat Doll actually."
Seemingly alluding to how she was purposefully being vague, Nicole then added, "Do you like how I'm answering these questions?" Robin has previously said the group are on a break and will return with a new line up consisting of Nicole alongside Vanessa Curry, Kherington Payne, Rino Nakasone Razalan and Jamie Lee Ruiz.

Nicole Scherzinger's driving terrifies her boyfriend. The Pussycat Dolls singer, who reconciled her two-year romance with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton in February after a brief split, admits she ignores her lover's advice when she is behind the wheel, leaving him more worried than when he is competing in a dangerous high-speed race.
"He's more afraid when he's with me and I'm driving than he is during a race," she said. "He gives me pointers, but at the end of the day he's like, 'Babe, you're driving with your knees!' I'm doing my makeup, changing the radio. I guess it's appropriate that I just did a song with Slash and Alice Cooper called 'Baby Can't Drive.' "
The 31-year-old star also admitted she has a crush on actress Halle Berry. She added in an interview with Maxim magazine, "She's just naturally gorgeous...I love her smile. Wait, I...

"Glee" has been keeping Lauren Gottlieb busy before she returns as an all-star on "So You Think You Can Dance."
The 21-year-old dancer is one of the members of Vocal Adrenaline, the show choir nemesis of William McKinley High's underdog glee club New Directions. In Tuesday's (June 1) episode "Funk," our heroes get discouraged after seeing Vocal Adrenaline kicking butt as usual, so it's up to Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) to raise their morale.
Although Gottlieb enjoys being the villain on "Glee," the actors' heartbreaking performances sometimes make it hard to play the bad guy.
"It's crazy and we love it because we're all together, so we just ham it up all day," she tells Zap2it. "But it's really sad to look over when we're shooting a scene with the main cast and Lea Michele is almost in tears. It's really sad. I'm definitely not that person to just stand...

Get ready to meet Pussycat Dolls 2.0. Lead singer (and possibly only singer) Nicole Scherzinger is the only familiar face of a whole new troupe of dolls, while the rest of the former members have been ousted.
Making their performance debut at a private party in Los Angeles over the weekend, Scherzinger took time out from her current "Dancing with the Stars" gig to dance with the new dolls.
Among them, Kherington Payne, who starred in last year's "Fame" remake and also featured on the fourth season of "So You Think You Can Dance," Rino Nakasone-Razalan, who toured with Gwen Stefani as one of her "Harajuku Girls," and former Laker Girl Vanessa Curry, who was rumored to have an affair with the team's Mvp Kobe Bryant.
Also joining the team is Jamie Lee Ruiz, who appeared in the show "Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious," who ultimately didn't make the cut for the Dolls spin-off group.
Making their performance debut at a private party in Los Angeles over the weekend, Scherzinger took time out from her current "Dancing with the Stars" gig to dance with the new dolls.

It must be rough to revive a film franchise that offers no opportunity for mainstream merchandising via toys, lunchboxes, and backpacks. The lack thereof probably torpedoes a good many films that deserve to be made but just aren’t “commercially viable” due to a lack of avenues for alternate profit. Take Fame, for example. Back when the original film debuted there was a television spin-off that followed shortly thereafter. With the remake of last year, there are similar talks of an accompanying television series, but there’s also a full-court press into a new industry that didn’t possess nearly the steam that it does now: direct-to-dvd (or video, back then) workout features. This new incarnation of Fame has done just that, and well, the results are rather ho-hum.

Our pop culture-obsessed world can catapult people at any time from obscurity to fame. It could be a flash in the pan or something longer lasting, with timing and circumstance determining someone’s longevity. Actual talent may help but over the last decade has proven to be less and less important.
A movie exploring these themes would be an interesting experience and deserves to be made. The remake of Fame could have been that but chose not to be much of anything instead.
The Alan Parker movie was a product of its times and was an R-rated, tough drama about the difficulties standing in the way of those lucky enough to attend New York’s School of Performing Arts. In addition to their artistic pursuit, it was still high school with academics emphasized since those who did not “make it” had a grounding to help with alternate options. It was a little bit grim,...

Chicago – My general thoughts on “Fame” are best articulated by Joel Hodgson and his robot friends from “Mystery Science Theater 3000.” During their infamous commentary on “Mitchell,” Joel points to one of the young actors on the screen and says, “Hey it’s one of the kids from ‘Fame!’” “Which one?” asks his robotic companion. Joel’s response: “Any of ‘em.”
None of the young stars in director Alan Parker’s 1980 original film have gone on to become household names. Irene Cara came the closest when she won an Oscar for her song in “Flashdance,” but her fame quickly petered out in the mid-80s. Though Parker’s musical drama may have failed as a launching pad for lucrative careers, it did succeed as an unsentimental and thoroughly entertaining depiction of life as an aspiring performing artist.

Now, if this is true, this is going to be a pretty surreal experience for you So You Think You Can Dance fans.
SYTYCDism reports that three of the dancers from Sytycd's fourth season--Katee Shean, Kherington Payne and Comfort Fedoke--will show up in a future episode of Glee. Now that's one for cross-promotion, huh? Nothing's confirmed yet, but the word is they'll be appearing as "juvees" on episode 13, "Sectionals", which airs December 9. Or, as it obviously implies (and as all of us gleeks know), when New Directions competes in sectionals.

The players: Director: Kevin Tancharoen, Writer: Allison Burnett, Cast: Kherington Payne, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Paul McGill, Asher Book, Kristy Flores
Facts of interest: Remake of the 1980 "Fame."
The plot: A bunch of youngsters try to survive four years at the prestigious New York City High School of Performing Arts.
Our thoughts: Sure, I’ll remember the name of this disappointing remake, but that’s about it already. I can’t say I’m surprised Kevin Tancharoen’s new version of the 1980 musical lacks energy and heart, and as forgettable as this film is, I also admit I didn’t find this big-screen experience to be as boring as I expected.

Yesterday, I hopped to my local movie theater, purchased a ticket for the Fame reboot, and began preparing myself for the exciting performances that would soon appear on-screen. After all, these musical numbers would come courtesy of an awesomely talented, young, breakout cast, right? Well...kinda. Though the cast might have been hindered by their own material -- the film paled in comparison to the gritty 1980 version, thanks to a clear effort to make the film more accessible to the High School Musical set -- I left the theater only remembering two names: Naturi Naughton and Collins Pennie. Irene Cara...

The MGM remake of the classic, drama, musical "Fame" movie hit the theaters this weekend. The movie was ok for what it was, I guess. It had some pretty good performances, and dealt with issues that kids who want to pursue a career in the entertainment industry might face,as they make their way through it. It starred : Asher Book, Kristy Flores, Paul Iacono, Paul McGill, Naturi Naughton, Kay Panabaker, Kherington Payne, Collins Pennie, Walter Perez, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Debbie Allen, Charles S. Dutton, Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullally, and Bebe Neuwirth. "Fame" centered around a group of talented kids who made it into the New York City High School of Performing Arts, and followed them for their four year term.Basically it followed the kids as they struggled to find out which avenue they wanted to pursue, and how some of them probably wouldn't be good enough...

The latest take on Fame, an edgy ’80s construction built on perseverance through real-life hardships, has become filled with pleasant platitudes such as reaching for celestial bodies, overcoming mountains, never giving up hope and other slogans usually seen on office posters. It’s a frigid and empty drama built on teen clichés and faux-grit while set against a thumping urban beat.
Much like the 1980 original from Alan Parker, Kevin Tancharoen’s updated version strips away emotion and substance only to cram the film with sappy melodrama and see-thru grit. Besides the movie’s PG-rated slant (the original was rated-r) which is skewed towards the Disney/High School Musical crowd, the dismal writing from Allison Burnett and shoddy performances, sans Megan Mullally, Charles S. Dutton and Kelsey Grammer, bring the film down to a level of boredom not felt since the creation of the Venetian Waltz.

Two days prior to the theatrical release of "Fame", the city of angels played host to a Los Angeles premiere for the musical drama. Black dominated the special screening event that took place at Pacific Theatres at The Grove as the usual red carpet was replaced with a black one to welcome the celebrities attending.
Some of the stars of the remake film opted to dress up for the premiere, while some others chose to go with a casual look. Naturi Naughton wore a shiny purple mermaid gown, Asher Book suited up in a slate gray suit completed with white sneakers, and Kay Panabaker was dressed in a Ports 1961 flowing, knee-length red and purple dress with beaded neckline. Collins Pennie, on the other hand, styled himself in black with a green jacket as a top off.

Truth be told, Naturi Naughton will be one of the few breakout stars from the "Fame" reboot. She plays Denise, a classical pianist with a dream. Alongside her is Asher Book as Marco, a singer/actor wannabe.
Kevin Tencharoen makes his feature film debut as a director working from a script by Allison Burnett ("Untraceable," "Resurrecting the Champ").
In our interview, Naturi and Asher talked about:
*** Their involvement with the film
*** Their characters
*** Irene Cara and Debbie Allen
*** The remake's history

By now, you've probably seen the adrenaline-fueled music video for the title track of "Fame." This weekend, you can head to a movie theater near you and watch the 1980 sensation about students at a New York performing-arts high school get a modern-day facelift on the big-screen.
