Allie X is gracing New Music Friday with an album full of her signature maximalist anthems!
Exactly four years after dropping her album Cape God, the hitmaker returned with her new body of work Girl With No Face on Friday (February 23).
The album marks a new era of creativity for Allie, who experienced viral success for the first time 10 years ago with her single “Catch.” Since then, she’s worked with everyone from Troye Sivan to BTS.
Girl With No Face sees her standing on her own, and it packs a lot of fire into the tracklist overflowing with bangers like viral single “Off With Her T-ts.”
Last week, we had the opportunity to catch up with Allie to learn more about the album. She broke down its creation, which started during the pandemic. She also opened up about touring, what’s next and her very best songs.

“There’s a secret in me I will never tell,” Allie X, a.k.a. Alexandra Hughes, sings on “Galina,” a track from her third studio album, Girl with No Face. Indeed, the artist maintains a certain mystery throughout the album’s 11 songs, and the title track subtly reveals the intention behind this decision: “I’m the girl with no face/You could learn a thing or two/Then you’re gonna thank me/Say ‘You look familiar, who are you?’”
Hughes is singing from the perspective of a ghost avenging dead artists who fell victim to the toxicity of the industry, and she continues to channel this character—as well as her myriad influences—throughout Girl with No Face. Hughes’s classically trained voice helps aid her shapeshifting: Her vocal runs on “Truly Dreams” are strikingly reminiscent of Kate Bush, while the bright, energic hook of “Black Eye” nods to early Madonna.

Allie X Unleashes 'Off With Her T-ts,' an Operatic Banger From Forthcoming Album 'Girl With No Face'

The hitmaker, who has created alongside the likes of Troye Sivan and BTS, is gearing up to drop her new album Girl With No Face. The project will be her first since 2020′s Cape God, and she’s making up for lost time in the leadup to its unveiling.
“Off With Her T-ts” is an ’80s infused anthem with an operatic twist that finds Allie facing down haunting thoughts. It follows the previously released singles “Girl With No Face” and “Black Eye.”

Allie X is still trying to figure out how to describe her upcoming album, Girl With No Face.

October 20, 2023 New York, NY – Bea Miller is in a new chapter in her life and career, and her latest singles, including “gauche,” offer a glimpse into her evolving lyrical and sonic direction. Her 5th independent single released this year, “gauche” is a gritty, midtempo alternative track with poignant references to a real-life car crash she caused at the age of 18. The single is the latest released via her own label, aptly named gauche records (Ada Worldwide). The new single arrives ahead of her 8-city US gauche tour.
The emotion-packed single was produced by frequent collaborators Kyle Shearer (Allie X, Rina Sawayama, Melanie Martinez) and guitarist Mikey Lasusa. Bea helms the track as the lead songwriter alongside Cara Salimando (Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter, Allie X) with additional contributions from producers Mikey Lasusa and Kyle Shearer. On the moody track, Bea navigates being distracted and day-dreaming while still being overly self-aware (and owning it). Lyrically,...

Dynamic mother-daughter and best friend duo Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey) return in “Ginny & Georgia” Season 2, which gets even more chaotic than the already very complex first season of the Netflix show. Another of Georgia’s past loves enters the mix, she commits some more questionable actions and many other twists and turns develop within the 10 hour-long episodes.
Ginny and her friends are no strangers to the TikTok scene, so some song choices reflect Gen Z’s poppy preferences. The show is also not afraid to explore both the high, happy feelings of life as well as the deeper, darker, lower ones, and it does so sonically with some beautiful choices. Felix Mallard chose a song for an important scene of his, and actress Brianne Howey easily chose a song to embody her character Georgia.

Season 2 of Hulu’s comedy-drama series “Love, Victor” was recently released, giving fans another look into Victor’s life as he comes out as gay to his Catholic parents, further explores his queerness in a new relationship and possibly falls for another boy — all while navigating high school. And underscoring the show’s moving plot lines is a collection of original songs — most of which are from queer artists — that brilliantly soundtrack each heart-fluttering hand hold, emotional confession and rousing climax throughout the season.
Inspired by and set in the same world as the beloved movie “Love, Simon,” “Love, Victor” follows Michael Cimino as Victor, a half Puerto Rican, half Colombian American teen who is piecing together his identity as he juggles family, friendships and romantic interests.
George Sear stars as Victor’s main love interest, Benji, alongside Rachel Hilson, Anthony Turpel, Bebe Wood, Mason Gooding, Isabella Ferreira, Ana Ortiz and James Martinez.

In the end, Rita Baga earned her third overall win, making her a clear frontrunner as the field of queens narrowed. This Thursday (11 August) , take a ride to this year’s Bicycle Film Festival. Kicking off the festivities will be a concert featuring The Meligrove Band, Octoberman, and Christien Summers at the Horseshoe.
