“How weird do you want it?” That was one of choreographer Charissa Barton’s first questions when she met with Peacemaker creator James Gunn. “He handed me a page with a couple of paragraphs,” Barton recalls of her first meeting with the writer-director. ” ‘Peacemaker stands in the middle of a room and starts doing a weird dance.’ Ok … What does ‘weird’ mean?” The script page noted that as Peacemaker does his weird little dance, the show’s supporting characters slowly join him in motion before Eagly, the superhero’s pet bald eagle, swoops down with dramatic flair. “James left it wide open for a lot of creative thinking about how to execute this.”
Set to “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” by Norwegian glam metal band Wig Wam, the dance sequence during Peacemaker‘s opening credits sets the tone for the HBO Max series.

Jennifer Holland plays Emilia Harcourt on Peacemaker.
The character has had a huge presence on Peacemaker Season 1, and with one episode remaining, we talked to Holland about what's on tap.
Check out the full interview.
TV Fanatic: What attracted you to Peacemaker?
Jennifer Holland: What attracted me to the show? Everything.
I probably would have done just about anything that James asked me to do.
For me, getting to do all of the stunts and the fight choreography that Harcourt gets to do throughout the series and just the wonderfully nuanced character arcs that all of the characters get.
It just makes it really a special experience.
Peacemaker is a lot of fun. What's it like on the set?
It was a blast. We had so much fun making the show. I think that It's pretty similar to a lot of James's film sets that I've been on.
He's a perfectionist,...

When James Gunn was conjuring up the opening credit sequence for HBO’s “Peacemaker,” he and his creative team had one goal: to make it so interesting, engaging and funny that people wouldn’t want to skip it.
And they succeeded — the show’s opening sequence is a viral sensation.
Choreographer Charissa Barton recalls that the catchy ear worm “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” by Wig Wam was in the script and early drafts, and to prep the dance moves she listened to it on repeat. Gunn’s suggestion to her was, “think of the 1960s and 1970s variety shows for inspiration.”
Production designer Lisa Sopher says when it came to drumming up ideas for the sets, “I went home and spent the whole night drawing things out. A pile of Lamborghinis with bombs sticking out of the back, three wolves just howling at the moon and other ideas.”

Spoiler Warning: This story discusses major plot points in the first two episodes of “Peacemaker,” currently streaming on HBO Max.
When Danielle Brooks first signed on to the new HBO Max series, “Peacemaker,” she was thrilled to be stepping into a DC Comics adaptation, a genre that to date has not made much space for women who look like her. She loved that the show’s executive producer, writer, and director James Gunn — who created the show as a spin-off from his 2021 feature “The Suicide Squad” — wrote Brooks’ role, Leota Adebayo, specifically with her in mind. And she relished the opportunity to do the same kind of physical stunt work as the show’s lead, John Cena.
But then Gunn told her and the rest of the cast about his plan for the opening credits.
“He just told us we’re dancing,” Brooks tells Variety. “He didn’t even really ask us.
