Mellie Miller

Mellie (Stout) Miller was born in Ohio, USA Sept 17, 1953 to Dennis and
Alta Stout. She grew up in a small farming community and began dance at
the age of 4 with the Eddie Hanf Dancing Studios in Toledo, OH studying
mainly tap with a little jazz dance for fun.
When she was 7 years old, she began piano lessons and at 11 started clarinet and continued throughout college. Since that time she has learned to play nearly all of the woodwind instruments including bassoon and F and C recorders. She has performed with several community concert bands and with several SCA groups across the USA
She began acting in High School under Mrs. Pauline Stockwell and studied drama, journalism and dramatic reading under her. In college she did some minor acting for the school, but turned more toward her music training adding classical voice training.
In 1976 she married Steve Miller and they have two daughters and five grandsons to date. During this time she and her family have lived in several states from Oregon and California to Utah and Wyoming and on to Tennessee, the Carolinas and Georgia.
In 1996 she began training the Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do under Dr. Richard F. Kowalske of the International Martial Arts Institute. After three and a half years of training she attained her first degree black belt. She holds a second degree belt and teaching certificate and specializes in forms.
After surviving breast cancer, Mellie decided to go back to her love of drama and began acting again in Atlanta, GA. For her first film, she was an extra in Night of the Jackals. Most recently she had a minor role in The Anatomy of Love.
She has recently tried her hand at writing and has published two short stories. She has also submitted her first novel to a publisher for reading.
