Everything’s coming up roses for Glee‘s Kurt Hummel, and no one is more surprised than the actor who portrayed him.
A brief audio clip from Chris Colfer’s performance of “Rose’s Turn,” as featured in a 2010 episode of Fox’s Glee, has been dominating TikTok recently — so much that the song just debuted at No. 3 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart. That’s right, one spot above Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em.”

Anneliese van der Pol has been active in the entertainment industry for more than two decades, but she no longer has an agent and can’t find one to represent her right now.
The 39-year-old actress had her big break as Chelsea Daniels on the Disney Channel series That’s So Raven from 2003 to 2007. She reprised the role on Raven’s Home from 2017 to 2022.
In addition to her work on the Disney Channel, Anneliese was the final actress to play Belle in the Broadway show Beauty and the Beast and she’s had a successful stage career in the years since.

Malia Obama stepped onto a red carpet last week for the first time, with good reason. The former first daughter hit Park City for the Sundance Film Festival premiere of her short film The Heart, an 18-minute directorial debut that snagged a spot in the U.S. short fiction films program of the 2024 edition. The premiere screening happened on the fest’s opening day, Jan. 18, and screened two more times over the weekend. The budding filmmaker, who participated in all post-screening Q&As to discuss her work, also took time out of her busy schedule to screen the film and speak with a group of students at Park City High School about all things creative from writing to directing.
Malia Obama attended The Heart premiere and posed with her actors and short-film collaborators.
It wasn’t all work and no play for the 25-year-old daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama.

Currently at Gold Derby, seven of our 10 Experts from major media outlets predict that Season 2 of “The Bear” will sweep the comedy races at the 2024 Golden Globes. These savvy prognosticators have it cooking up wins for Best Comedy Series, Jeremy Allen White as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto for Best Comedy Actor and Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu for Best Comedy Actress. If they’re right, that would put “The Bear” on the same exotic menu as “30 Rock” (with leads Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin) and “Roseanne” (with leads Roseanne Barr and John Goodman), both of which claimed the comedy trifecta in 2009 and 1993, respectively.
The seven Experts predicting the FX show to sweep the top three comedy races are: Christopher Rosen (Gold Derby), Eric Deggans (NPR), Joyce Eng (Gold Derby), Nikki Novak (Fandango), Peter Travers (ABC), Ray Richmond (Gold Derby) and Wilson Morales (BlackFilmandTV). Season 2 continued the story of Carmy and...

Last year, “The Bear” earned two Golden Globe nominations and won one, Best TV Comedy/Musical Actor for Jeremy Allen White. This year, it received five bids and could win all five, but it’s projected to win three, which would be quite the notable achievement as well. It’s expected to win the three comedy categories — series, lead actor again for White and lead actress for Ayo Edebiri — which would make it the first show to complete the comedy hat trick since “30 Rock” 15 years ago.
Just how rare is this in comedy? You have to back to 1993 for the next instance with “Roseanne.” “The Bear” lost the series award last year to “Abbott Elementary,” which won three prizes from five bids, but the ABC sitcom underperformed this year and swapped nomination hauls with “The Bear,” going down to two. It’s in fourth place in the odds, just ahead of another former champ,...

Year after year, TV fans continue to be irked when the Golden Globes combine supporting performances from comedies, dramas, limited series and TV movies altogether. Looking through the list of past winners in the female category, you can clearly see there’s a bias toward rewarding dramatic roles over comedic ones. In fact, it’s been a whopping 13 years since a supporting actress from a comedy series prevailed: Jane Lynch (“Glee”). Is there a comedy curse at the Golden Globes? If so, it could finally end this year, as Gold Derby predicts Meryl Streep (“Only Murders in the Building”) will win the race for Best TV Supporting Actress on Sunday, January 7.
Streep plays Loretta Durkin on the Hulu hit, an out-of-work theater actress who decides to audition for a Broadway play directed by Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) in order to get closer to one of the other characters. Loretta is tailor-made for awards recognition,...

Ayo Edebiri‘s upgrade to lead for Season 2 of “The Bear” has already cooked up some good results. She earned her inaugural Golden Globe nomination in Best TV Comedy/Musical Actress, setting up the FX hit to achieve a rare Globe hat trick: sweeping three comedy categories in the same year.
And “The Bear” is expected to do just that in the early odds, sitting in first place in Best Comedy/Musical Series, Best TV Comedy/Musical Actress for Edebiri and Best TV Comedy/Musical Actor for Jeremy Allen White. The last show to accomplish this was “30 Rock” in 2009. The NBC comedy won its only series Globe then and earned lead acting honors for Tina Fey (her second of two) and Alec Baldwin (his second of three). Prior to this, you have to go all the way back to 1993 for another comedy triple play, when “Roseanne” and stars Roseanne Barr and John Goodman prevailed.

SAG-AFTRA, in partnership with the Motion Picture Association and a host of other industry unions and organizations, has launched the Green Council Initiative to promote eco-responsible entertainment. Founded by SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher, the initiative’s top priority is the reduction of single-use plastic on set, on screen and in audience homes, while normalizing the use and depictions of reusables – much like the “Buckle Up Hollywood!” movement pushed to promote seat belt awareness back in the 1990s.
Green Council’s founding members include Drescher, Cate Blanchett, Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Diane Keaton, Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Salma Hayek, Gloria Estefan, Peter Sarsgaard, Rosario Dawson, Billy Porter, Aida Rodriguez, Jason Momoa, Rachel Bloom, Chris Colfer, David Dastmalchian and Ellen Crawford.

In the 16 years since 22-year-old America Ferrera was honored by the Screen Actors Guild for her work on “Ugly Betty,” she has held tight to the record for youngest individual SAG Award winner for TV. Until this year she was also the youngest nominee in the history of the comedy actress category, but she has now been bumped down a spot by 20-year-old “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega. If Ortega triumphs on her bid, she will not only break Ferrera’s winning record but also land in second place behind Kate Winslet on the list of youngest solo SAG Award recipients for film or TV acting.
Ortega is the youngest 2023 comedy actress contender by a margin of 12 years. Included among her challengers are concurrent ensemble nominees Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”) and Jean Smart (“Hacks”), the former of whom stands with Ortega as a SAG Awards newcomer. Smart is seeking her second...

Despite the fact that William H. Macy pulled off an impressive three individual SAG Award wins for “Shameless” between 2015 and 2018, the 11-season series was never recognized in the comedy ensemble category. Among Macy’s perpetually overlooked cast mates was Jeremy Allen White, who moved on to a starring role on “The Bear” one year after “Shameless” concluded. Now that his new series is a proven hit with SAG voters, he not only has a long-awaited first shot at a comedy ensemble win, but could also follow in the footsteps of his former TV dad by achieving a solo victory.

Since 1996, the record for youngest Best TV Drama Actress SAG Award winner has been held by Gillian Anderson, who was 27 when she collected her first of two consecutive trophies for “The X-Files.” Over the years, her title has stood intact against several would-be usurpers, including Emma Corrin (25), her costar from “The Crown” who she herself defeated in 2021. Now, one year after Jung Ho-yeon (“Squid Game”) came within 52 days of lowering the bar, Anderson could lose her position to someone who wasn’t even born at the time of her 1996 triumph: 26-year-old “Euphoria” star Zendaya.
All four of Zendaya’s challengers in the current drama actress race are, unlike her, also nominated in the ensemble category. Lea Michele has reflected on allegations she created a toxic workplace environment on the set of Glee.
In 2020, Michele – who played Rachel Berry in Ryan Murphy’s musical comedy series – was accused of making her co-star Samantha Ware’s time on the show a “living hell”. Ware said she was on the receiving end of “traumatic microagressions” from the actor, who allegedly once threatened to “s*** in my wig” in front of her castmates, causing Ware to question a future career in the industry.
This led to a number of other cast members speaking out about Michele’s behaviour on set, for which she later apologised and noted how she wanted to “keep working to better [herself] and take responsibility for [her] actions”.
Speaking to playwright Jeremy O Harris for Interview magazine, Michele was asked whether she had turned back to a career on the stage to “rectify” the way she behaved on set.

“The Price of Glee”, a three-part limited documentary, is pulling back the curtain on the cultural phenomenon that was “Glee”.
When the high school musical series from Ryan Murphy first debuted in 2009, it quickly broke down barriers, set records and changed the music and TV industry. It also made super stars out of its ensemble cast, including Cory Monteith, Mark Salling and Naya Rivera, whose lives were eventually cut short in very different, very tragic ways, leaving a dark cloud looming over the series that became rocked by scandals, gossip and more.
In the series, which premieres Monday, Jan. 16 on ID and discovery+, relatives and friends of the “Glee” cast, including Rivera’s father George and Monteith’s roommate Justin Neill, as well as those who were on set or covered the production during its six-season run, are speaking out.

Considering all 10 TV acting Golden Globe categories, the widest age range of the year involves the Best Comedy Actress nominees. 51 years separate reigning champ Jean Smart (71) of HBO Max’s “Hacks” from first-timer Jenna Ortega (20) of Netflix’s “Wednesday,” while the gaps in the other categories range from 27 to 47 years. Smart is looking to break her own record as the all-time oldest recipient of this lead award, but she faces a formidable challenge from Ortega, who could set a new precedent as the youngest winner in this category and second youngest performer to snag a TV Golden Globe of any kind.
Rounding out the 2023 Best Comedy Actress lineup are Selena Gomez, Quinta Brunson, and Kaley Cuoco, making for an average age of 38. Ortega, who would be the first TV acting Golden Globe winner born during the 21st century, is the second youngest contender in this category’s history, after 19-year-old Patty Duke.

Nearly five decades after achieving two consecutive Best TV Comedy Actor Golden Globe victories for “Happy Days,” Henry Winkler could now become the first man to ever be honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for both lead and supporting performances on comedy programs. The septuagenarian “Barry” cast member did not succeed on his first two Golden Globe bids for the HBO show, but his luck may change now that he is competing in a brand new category.
Ahead of the 80th Golden Globes, the HFPA established the Best TV Comedy/Drama Supporting Actor and Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor categories as replacements for a catch-all one that had existed since 1971. In less than a quarter century, Ryan Murphy has produced 20 TV series (and counting), which means he is only six such credits away from outpacing the legendary Norman Lear. After being honored with the Producers Guild of America’s Norman Lear Award in 2018, Murphy is now going to follow Lear as the next recipient of the Carol Burnett Golden Globe Award for career achievement in television. Like his predecessor, he has earned this tribute because he has made a name for himself as an innovative and inclusive creator whose body of work constitutes its own distinct era within TV history.
At 57, Murphy is the youngest Carol Burnett Award honoree so far. After originally being bestowed upon its namesake (85) in 2019, the special prize has gone to Ellen DeGeneres and Lear. According to Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Helen Hoehne, Murphy was chosen because of his unique ability to “enthrall audiences with...

A new series titled "The Price of Glee" will soon return to the halls of William McKinley High School - though things will look a bit different this time around. A forthcoming docuseries from Discovery+ and Ample Entertainment will explore the various tragedies and controversies that have plagued Ryan Murphy's smash hit "Glee," both while it aired from 2009 to 2015 and in the years since.
"In May 2009, 10 young actors made their TV debut on 'Glee.' By 2020, all of them would be famous, and three would be dead," the trailer, which dropped on Dec. 8, states.
Through the years, the "Glee" cast have encountered misfortune after misfortune. In 2013, while the show was still airing, Cory Monteith - who played lovable jock Finn Hudson and who was also Lea Michele's on- and offscreen boyfriend - died of an accidental heroin overdose. Then Mark Salling, who played Noah "Puck" Puckerman, was...

Among the highlights of the socially distanced 2021 Golden Globe Awards ceremony was Jodie Foster’s upset Best Film Supporting Actress win for “The Mauritanian” and subsequent virtual acceptance speech. With her wife and dog seated next to her, the pajama-clad star casually created a moment of positive LGBTQ representation, which increased the impact of her being the first openly LGBTQ individual to ever win a film acting Golden Globe. Queer-identifying Ariana DeBose won the same award for “West Side Story” last year, and now this streak could be continued by nonbinary performer Janelle Monae (“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”).
Monae, who made her name as a recording artist before taking on roles in 2016’s “Hidden Figures” and “Moonlight,” is one of several newcomers to the “Knives Out” franchise, which has so far featured private detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) as its sole recurring character. The tale of two “Glee”s is examined in an upcoming docuseries.
ID’s “The Price of Glee” contrasts the extreme fame experienced by the young cast of the hit Fox high school musical series with the scandals that plagued its stars. Cory Monteith died during the series of an overdose; co-star Mark Salling later killed himself after child pornography was discovered in his possession. In 2020, Naya Rivera was missing for days before being found dead from drowning while on a boating trip with her son.

Warning: Massive spoilers ahead for the Season 8 finale of “The Masked Singer”
Season 8 of “The Masked Singer” has come to a close, and it was a fierce competition between the final two acts. In the end, though, only one could take home the title. And that one was…

Lea Michele had the opportunity to live out a dream on Thursday when she opened the 96th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade singing, fittingly, her rafter-raising rendition of “Don’t Rain on My Parade.”
The “Glee” star, who is currently starring on Broadway as Fanny Brice in “Funny Girl” and shown above rehearsing for her parade performance, kicked off the festivities with the musical theater classic first made famous by Barbra Streisand (and originated in this Broadway revival by Beanie Feldstein).
Despite Michele’s demands to not rain on her parade, some on social media still tried to do just that.
“No way the thanksgiving day parade began with lea michele jumpscare,” one user tweeted with a crying emoji.
Another questioned why the Thanksgiving Day Parade didn’t give a “trigger warning” when Michele began singing, while another shared a meme of Mateo of NBC comedy “Super Store” signing a cross over his chest,...

Over four decades after collecting back-to-back Best TV Comedy Actor Golden Globes for playing The Fonz on “Happy Days,” Henry Winkler could make history as the first man to ever be honored by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for both lead and supporting performances on comedy series. According to Gold Derby’s predictions, the “Barry” cast member is the odds-on favorite in the newly established Best TV Comedy/Drama Supporting Actor category. Though he lost on his first two Golden Globe nominations for the HBO show, he may be set for success this time thanks to some rule changes.
Heading into the 80th Golden Globes, the HFPA has established the Best TV Comedy/Drama Supporting Actor and Best TV Movie/Limited Supporting Actor categories as replacements for the catch-all Best TV Supporting Actor one. Ryan Murphy has become one of the biggest mega-producers in Hollywood due to his prolific work on television. Starting in 1999 with The WB dramedy “Popular,” he has given a platform to the outcast and the forgotten, starting and reviving many high-profile careers in the process. Take a walk through his prolific TV career in our photo gallery below in which we highlight the Top 18 Ryan Murphy shows ranked.
Murphy, whose birthday is November 9, established himself as a real presence after “Nip/Tuck,” his dark FX drama about a pair of plastic surgeons, but it wasn’t until the one-two punch of “Glee” and “American Horror Story” that the producer really took off.
On “Glee,” Murphy showed the power of bringing disparate kids together through the power of music, launching the careers of Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, Naya Rivera and more. “American Horror Story” became a safe haven for older...

Long before she bagged back-to-back Best TV Drama Actress Golden Globes for “Homeland” in 2012 and 2013, Claire Danes initially conquered the same category as the 15-year-old star of “My So-Called Life.” Nearly three decades later, she still holds the Golden Globe record for youngest TV acting champ, with 1974 Best Film Supporting Actress recipient Linda Blair being the only younger acting winner overall. Although her TV record is almost guaranteed to remain intact by the end of this season, there may be a second place shake-up depending on whether voters warm to 20-year-old “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega.
Presently, Ortega ranks sixth in Gold Derby’s Best TV Comedy Actress Golden Globe predictions, behind such formidable opponents as Jean Smart (“Hacks”) and Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”). If she does land in the lineup, she will be the second youngest competitor in the category’s history, after 19-year-old Patty Duke. From there,...

Glee: Ryan Murphy says Matthew Morrison’s Mr Schue was originally written as a ‘crystal meth addict’
Ryan Murphy has revealed that Glee was originally written to be much darker, with Mr Schuester’s character a supposed “crystal meth addict”.
Fox’s Emmy-winning musical series starred Matthew Morrison as Mr Schue, a Spanish teacher and director of the high school’s show choir.
On a recent appearance on the And that’s What you Really Missed podcast, hosted by Glee alums Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina Cohen-Chang) and Kevin McHale (Artie Abrams), creator Murphy discussed the early days of developing the show.
“We were having these conversations and I was trying to figure it out,” Murphy explained.
“Like serendipity, I went to the gym and I was in a towel and a guy went up and handed me a script and he said, ‘I had a feeling you were in show choir, am I right?’ And I was like ‘Yeah.’ And he said, ‘My friend wrote this script and you should read it.

Chris Colfer isn’t going out of his way to catch former Glee castmate Lea Michele’s appearance in Broadway’s Funny Girl.

Discovery+ and ID have ordered a three-part docuseries that will explore the real story behind the string of controversies associated with Glee.

The untitled project will address the controversies including the child pornography case of Mark Salling, who portrayed Puck.
Salling was arrested and found guilty in 2017 of possessing over 50,000 images of child sex abuse. He later died by suicide at age 35 in 2018 while awaiting sentencing.

Chris Colfer isn't going to see his former "Glee" costar Lea Michele in "Funny Girl." On Oct. 11, Colfer, who played Kurt on the hit Fox series, appeared on "The Michelle Collins Show" on Sirius Xm's Radio Andy, where he asked Collins if she was seeing "Funny Girl" after she mentioned she would be seeing a Broadway show.
Collins laughed and said she was. "Oh, my day suddenly just got so full," Colfer said. Collins explained that since she saw Beanie Feldstein in the production already, she wanted to see Michele, too. "I saw 'Six' last night, and that was amazing," Colfer countered.
"So, you're not seeing ["Funny Girl"] is my guess, while you're in town?" Collins asked. Colfer replied, "No, I can be triggered at home." The conversation moved on from there.
Back in 2020, "Glee" actor Samantha Ware alleged that Michele engaged in toxic behavior and abuse on the set of the long-running show.

Ant and Dec have confirmed the reason they were forced to pull out of hosting duties for the new spinoff of Britain’s Got Talent.
The British duo were originally expected to present the new ITV talent show, Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician.
However, a spokesperson for the series told MailOnline on Wednesday (12 October) that the two were “unable to film” after having become “unwell”.
Instead, they have been replaced by magician Stephen Mulhern.
A representative for the pair later informed The Sun that “Ant and Dec have tested for Covid and unfortunately have both tested positive” and “will be postponing work commitments whilst they recover”.
This also means that Ant McPartlin, 47, and Dec Donnelly, 46, will no longer be in attendance at Britain’s 27th National Television Awards on Thursday (13 October).

When “Glee” premiered on Fox in 2009, it instantly became a ratings success and an object of intense fandom. But between the deaths of young stars Cory Monteith, Mark Salling and Naya Rivera, and the allegations of on-set bullying on the part of series lead Lea Michele, the show has become just as well known for the drama surrounding its production as its actual plotlines.

Exclusive: Discovery+ and ID are exploring the real story behind Fox’s hit series Glee.
The streamer has ordered a three-part docuseries from Ample Entertainment, the company behind HBO docuseries The Invisible Pilot and Facebook’s 9 Months with Courteney Cox.
The series will have access to key cast and crew members, who will share first-hand stories of their time on the comedy drama series that ran for over 100 episodes between 2009 and 2015.
It will lift the curtain to reveal the highs and lows of the production and the on-set community and will also feature testimonials of close family and friends with never-heard-before stories.
The currently untitled series will address the controversies surrounding the series, including the case of Mark Salling, who played Puck. Salling was arrested and pleaded guilty to possessing images of child sex abuse and killed himself while awaiting sentencing.
Then there was the death of Cory Monteith, who played Finn.

Chris Colfer has seemingly enjoyed a dig at former Glee co-star Lea Michele, saying that he won’t be seeing her Broadway performance of Funny Girl.
The two starred as on-again-off-again best friends on the hit musical series, which began in 2009. However, five years after its six-season run, Michele was accused of “bullying” behaviour by several Glee alumni.
While Colfer has remained relatively quiet about the allegations, he appeared to allude to the drama during a recent episode of The Michelle Collins Show.
Host Michelle Collins asked him to guess what she was doing that evening, suggesting he should join her. The 32-year-old responded: “Oh no, are you seeing Funny Girl?”
Collins laughingly answered “yes”, before Colfer said: “Oh... My day suddenly just got so full.”
He added: “I saw Six last night, and that was amazing.”
“So, you’re not seeing it [Funny Girl] is my guess, while you’re in town?...

Many viewers ofLuckiest Girl Alive, which is currently number one on Netflix’s Top 10, have been wondering whether the Mila Kunis-starrer is based on a true story.
The film follows Kunis’s Ani, a writer whose seemingly perfect life starts to unravel when a true-crime documentary forces her to confront a school shooting she experienced as a teenager.
Luckiest Girl Alive contains harrowing scenes, with many viewers calling for stronger trigger warnings, but is it based on real life events?
***This article contains spoilers for Luckiest Girl Alive***
The answer is not straightforward. The film is technically based on a 2015 mystery novel of the same name by Jessica Knoll. In that book, a teenage Ani is gang raped at a house party by several of her classmates. She tells her friends Arthur and Ben what happened, and they then share their experiences of being bullied by the same boys who raped Ani.

Last month, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced it will finally split up its chaotic catch-all TV supporting categories for the upcoming 80th Golden Globe Awards. Well, not completely — comedy and drama are still under one umbrella, but at least they’re away from limited and TV movie now. So who’s currently head to be the inaugural winners of these four new categories?
The Best TV Comedy/Drama Supporting Actor race is led by Henry Winkler (“Barry”), followed by John Turturro (“Severance”), two-time Emmy winner Brett Goldstein (“Ted Lasso”), Tyler James Williams (“Abbott Elementary”) and Matt Smith (“House of the Dragon”). On the actress side, Emmy champ Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”) is in pole position, ahead of Lesley Manville (“The Crown”), Hannah Einbinder (“Hacks”), Rhea Seehorn (“Better Call Saul”) and Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”).

The Golden Globes are spitting the two catch-all supporting acting categories on the TV side into four (comedy or drama and TV movie or limited series). This increases the number of TV races to 13 (the film side remains at 14). A majority of the previous supporting winners have come from dramas and limited series.
The most recent comedic winners were Chris Colfer for “Glee” in 2011 and Jeremy Piven for “Entourage” in 2008 for supporting actor, and Jane Lynch for “Glee” in 2011 and Kim Cattrall for “Sex and the City” in 2003 in supporting actress.
