[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 premiere “Memory Lane.”] Listen, navigating grief can be a tricky thing, and everyone won’t necessarily make the best decisions. The Organized Crime Control Bureau lost one of their own (Brent Antonello‘s Detective Jamie Whelan) in the last finale. We already knew heading into the Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 premiere that Sergeant Ayanna Bell has been in therapy, as Danielle Moné Truitt told us. But it’s in the episode that we find out how Detectives Jet Slootmaekers (Ainsley Seiger) and Bobby Reyes (Rick Gonzalez) have been dealing with their loss: They’ve been having an affair. “A lot of what Rick and I have talked about — because we’ve had so many really extensive conversations about it — is that grief is a funny thing and it makes you do really weird, crazy stuff. And I think to go from this trio of ...

Oh, things are going to be rough for the newest member of the team in Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 4 (premiering January 18), and TV Insider has an exclusive first look at his entrance and introduction. Tate Ellington comes in as Dr. Kyle Vargas, the newest member of the team as part of the NYPD testing out AI technology that could revolutionize their investigations. And he’s not exactly welcomed with open arms in our sneak peek, even though he does have bagels. First of all, he’s several days early. “I thought it couldn’t hurt to get started,” Vargas explains. “I’m going to get you a new security system because that one, that one was way too easy.” Then, he goes to put his bag down on Jamie’s (Brent Antonello) desk; everyone immediately protests. (Jamie died in the Season 3 finale.) It falls on Sergeant Ayanna Bell...

We didn’t need any more reasons to love Sergeant Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt), the boss on Law & Order: Organized Crime, but it sounds like Season 4 is going to give us one: a healthy way of managing her grief. Season 3 ended with the Organized Crime Control Bureau losing one of its own, Detective Jamie Whelan (Brent Antonello) in the course of a crossover investigation with Svu, and while a few months have passed since then in-show, everyone is still coping, some in better ways than others. And on Bell’s plate in the Season 4 premiere, “Memory Lane,” airing January 18, besides her own grief? Stabler (Christopher Meloni) returns from a dangerous undercover assignment and has to deal with rapid changes at work. One of those is the advisor Bell hires to bring in AI technology that could revolutionize police investigation. Here, Truitt previews where Season 4 finds Bell’s team.

There’s been yet another change at the helm of Dick Wolf’s Law & Order: Organized Crime. Sean Jablonski is stepping down as showrunner of NBC’s police procedural, Deadline has confirmed. Jablonski is the fourth showrunner to depart the Law & Order spinoff in the past year.
Law & Order: Svu’s David Graziano will oversee the remaining three episodes of Season 3 of Law & Order: Organized Crime, starring Christopher Meloni, Danielle Moné Truitt, Ainsley Seiger, Brent Antonello and Rick Gonzalez.
Sources tell Deadline Jablonski is exiting due to creative differences.
Jablonski took over as showrunner in September 2022 for Bryan Goluboff. Goluboff replaced Barry O’Brien, who was named interim showrunner in late February 2022. O’Brien had been asked to step in and finish the season after the exit of previous showrunner Ilene Chaiken.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3 Episode 10 “Trap.”] Detective Jamie Whelan’s (Brent Antonello) first undercover op, of course, goes sideways. Law & Order: Organized Crime‘s winter premiere introduces a new arc, one involving a gang based out of Miami looking to make a name for itself running drugs in New York; Jamie goes undercover as a driver, after they kidnap the wife of one of Detective Elliot Stabler’s (Christopher Meloni) informants. But in the final moments, Jamie ditches the wire, then leaves the meeting point to go with the gang to another location — and also has to lose their tail. Antonello teases what’s ahead for Jamie during this next arc. Jamie’s decision to ditch the wire was probably the right move, but doing so means he’s completely out of contact ...

Can Detective Jamie Whelan (Brent Antonello) handle the pressure of going undercover? That’s the question for the January 5 winter premiere of Law & Order: Organized Crime. In “Trap,” one of Detective Elliot Stabler’s (Christopher Meloni) informants turns to him when his wife is kidnapped by a rising gang based out of Miami. They want to take over New York and are running drugs, using street racing nights to recruit the best drivers. “Bell and Stabler read Jamie’s file and they find out that he was a stock car racer back in the day, and they use those skills that he has to do a deep dive and try to infiltrate this Miami gang,” Antonello previews. But while we’ve seen Stabler and Detective Bobby Reyes (Rick Gonzalez) go undercover, this is new ground for Jamie. “[He] hasn’t been faced with this kind of pressure, especially as an individual by himself.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3 Episode 9, “Last Christmas.”] At least for now, that wasn’t the “Last Christmas” the task force will be together for on Law & Order: Organized Crime. Heading into the episode, the members of the unit thought the last thing they’d do together would be to meet with Robert Silas (John Doman) and make a deal for the information he has. Things, of course, went sideways — Sergeant Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt) and her detectives, Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), Jet Slootmaekers (Ainsley Seiger), Jamie Whelan (Brent Antonello) and Bobby Reyes (Rick Gonzalez) were ambushed — but worked out in the end. After that, Bell decided she wasn’t taking the new job and would instead be staying right where she is — and that means the task force isn’t being shut down (but that cleanse with the sage Jamie gave her? Much needed for the office). “I think ...

The fall television season has officially kicked off, and the major broadcasters are battling it out for viewership among a slate of both scripted and unscripted series.
We ranked each of the broadcast network’s fall premieres, which began to roll out in mid-September. The list below accounts for the live plus same-day ratings in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic for each show and will be updated as the fall TV season continues.
After week two, Fox’s new country series “Monarch” reigns as the ratings champion with a 0.91 in the demo. However, it’s certainly worth noting that the premiere followed a Sunday NFL doubleheader on Sept. 11, which no doubt boosted its ratings. When the series made its time slot debut with its second episode on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 9 p.m., it garnered just a 0.21 in the demo and 1.7 million total viewers.

(Credit: Zach Dilgard/NBC) The two empty nesters are asking themselves, “Who am I?” in terms of their costly total devotion to the job, the EP notes. The answer: damn fine cops who accept that if their lives are singularly about law enforcement, it’s “‘Let’s be the best we can possibly be,’” he adds. “That’s bad news for the bad guys.” Those would be the mobbed-up folks building a new NYC casino. Law & Order: Organized Crime is undergoing yet another shakeup.
In a surprising move, Bryan Goluboff is stepping down as showrunner before the Season 3 premiere of the spin-off.
He will be replaced by Sean Jablonski, who has experience producing the mothership Law & Order series.
There is no word on why the sudden change is happening, which makes Jablonski the show’s fourth showrunner in seven months.
This comes after Goluboff had talked in interviews about his plan for Season 3, which would have included shorter story arcs and more focus on the personal lives of Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and his squad.
The sudden change should not affect episodes that have already been filmed but will mean some adjustments as Season 3 prepares to premiere on September 22.

Law & Order: Organized Crime is getting another new captain behind the scenes, our sister site Deadline reports.
Sean Jablonski is taking over as showrunner for the NBC procedural’s upcoming third season, just three months after Svu veteran Bryan Goluboff took the reins from Barry O’Brien, who had been named interim showrunner following wake of previous showrunner Ilene Chaiken’s departure in February. (Before you do the math, yes, that’s four showrunners in one calendar year.)

Another behind-the-scenes change at Law & Order: Organized Crime: Sean Jablonski is taking over for Bryan Goluboff as showrunner.
Just three months ago, Goluboff replaced Barry O’Brien, who was named interim showrunner in late February. Having joined the series as co-executive producer in November, O’Brien was asked to step into the leadership role and finish the season after the exit of previous showrunner Ilene Chaiken. O’Brien will continue on Organized Crime as writer/executive producer for Season 3.
Now it’s Jablonski’s job to steer the Law & Order spinoff that stars Christopher Meloni, Danielle Moné Truitt, Ainsley Seiger, Brent Antonello and Rick Gonzalez. Earlier in his writing career, Jablonski wrote for Law & Order before moving onto shows like Nip/Tuck, Suits and Project Blue Book. He’s repped by CAA, Underground Management and Gregg Gellman.

Law & Order: Organized Crime is mixing up the formula for Season 3.
New showrunner Bryan Goluboff has confirmed that in the new season of the spinoff, Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) will finally be investigating crimes as himself.
While Season 1 had Stabler hunting for the murderer of his wife, Season 2 focused on him going undercover in a mob and then a pack of corrupt cops.
This put Stabler through an emotional wringer while wrestling with his place as a detective.
But Season 3 will put that aside as Stabler will be out in the open investigating crimes without the undercover work.
This plays into a new pair of possible villains whose casino business is tied to a potential criminal operation.
This new format may be different from what Law & Order: Organized Crime fans are used to...

Say Hallelujer, Madea fans! Tyler Perry is bringing back his most beloved character for an all-new adventure on Netflix.
Perry will write, direct and star in the film, donning Madea’s dress, wig and devil-may-care attitude one more time. Perry retired Mabel “Madea” Simmons in 2020 with the sold-out “Madea’s Farewell Tour” (which was also filmed for BET plus), while the character’s final film appearance came in 2019’s “A Madea Family Funeral,” where Perry ostensibly closed the casket on the character.
Perry has been quietly developing the project since last fall.
“I was done with Madea, completely done with it,” Perry told Variety, when he was honored as 2020’s Showman of the Year. “But as I’ve been looking at the state of the world — and I finished a tour in January, just before the pandemic started to break in the country — and the amount of joy and laughter...
