"Only reason you're here is 'cause I spared you." Fs.net is honored to exclusively premiere the first official trailer for an indie thriller titled Downeast, the latest feature from actor / filmmaker Joe Raffa. The film is premiering at the 2021 Garden State Film Festival later this month, and this trailer is being released early to build up some buzz. Written and directed by Raffa, Downeast is a story of love, loss, and redemption diving into the often ignored seedy underbelly of Maine. The story follows a woman who returns to her hometown and begins to uncover the web of lies the town has been keeping while reconnecting with an old flame. The film combines crime, revenge and most importantly, the hope for a new life. Starring Greg Finley, Dylan Silver, Judson Mills, Kirk Fox, and Gareth Williams. This looks like a gritty, rough and tumble mob thriller exploring the not-so-nice...

"They're always going to have to live with the consequences." A trailer has debuted for an indie film titled Hunting Lands, which is currently playing on the film festival circuit. Hunting Lands is the feature debut of an experienced gaffer named Zack Wilcox, telling a story about a man who dislikes modern society and retreats to find peace and solitude in the wilderness. When he discovers a discarded, beaten woman fighting for her life in the snow, Frank must decide whether to continue to turn his back on society or confront the world he loathes. Marshall Cook stars as Frank, and the cast also includes Joe Raffa, Keyna Reynolds, Kaleb Rittenhouse, and Brooke Mulkins. No surprise the cinematography in this looks gorgeous, but it also looks like an intriguing story reminiscent of Wind River or Leave No Trace. Definitely got my attention. Here's the first official trailer (+ posters) for Zack Wilcox's Hunting Lands,...

Writer/director Zack Wilcox has pretty much done every job there is to do on a film set and now he's adding directing to his resume with his feature film debut Hunting Lands.
Marshall Cook stars as Frank Olsen, a veteran determined to create a life for himself outside of society but when he finds an injured woman in the snowy wilderness he must decide whether to let her die or return to civilization to save her.
Along with Cook, the movie also stars Joe Raffa and Keyna Reynolds.
Wilcox's background as cinematographer is clear in the trailer which suggests a movie which beautifully captures the starkness of life off the grid and Cook has received accolades for his leading performance as a man who dislikes modern society and retreats to find peace and sol...

Mediocrity doesn’t always spell doom for a horror flick. Sometimes we can merely be entertained by the most obvious and oblivious of genre movies simply by knowing exactly where the plot is moving, because when stories and death sequences briskly waste no time, a certain amount of respect can be shown. Camp Dread is one of those late-night watches that may mirror shoe-string budget quality featuring a handful of “nobody” actors, but in exercising slasher genre normality, a few fresh ideas produce something more than drunken bedtime fodder. Writer/Director Harrison Smith exhibits enough horror understanding to feed hungry fans with the equivalent of comfort food – it may not be pretty, but who can deny a heaping helping of biscuits smothered in gravy? Camp Dread is pretty much actor Eric Roberts smothered in gravy – and that’s where I’ll leave this intro.

At age 21 actor/director Joe Raffa is already making quite a name for himself on the independent filmmaking scene. His first directorial effort (which he also wrote and co-starred in) - You'll Know My Name - has already been nabbed for distribution after a successful festival run in 2011.
He's currently in post-production on his follow-up project called Six Degrees of Hell, a supernatural thriller starring Corey Feldman, Nikki Bell, Jill Whelan, Brian Anthony Wilson and Raffa as well; and Dread Central recently caught up with the up-and-coming filmmaker to discuss his experiences making both You'll Know My Name and Six Degrees of Hell, why he won't ever star in a film he directs again and why the dark side of storytelling is so compelling to him.

Director Joe Raffa, who burst on the scene with the buzz behind his upcoming film 6 Degrees of Hell starring Corey Feldman, now has another film grabbing distribution. Raffa's first picture, You'll Know My Name, was picked up for domestic and foreign distribution by Breaking Glass Entertainment of Philadelphia. That's two features for Raffa by age 21. Not bad.
You'll Know My Name is a tale of violence and aggression set in New Jersey ... and thankfully it doesn't contain any footage of Snooki getting popped in the mouth. Brought to us by Brothers in Arms Productions, the film stars Raffa with Mianna Saxton, Alexander Mandell, Brian Gallagher, David J. Bonner, Chuck Connors, Tommy J. Raffa's second feature, the Corey Feldman horror flick 6 Degrees of Hell, was shot in August of last year and is finishing post-production with a planned 2012 release.

I recently discovered that I don’t have nearly enough Corey Feldman in my cinematic diet, and that’s a damn shame. He went up a few notches in my cool book with “Lost Boys: The Thirst”, a movie that doesn’t get nearly the love that it deserves. And while director Joe Raffa’s “Six Degrees of Hell” looks more like a Halloween attraction than a motion picture, at least we get more Feldman. That’s got to account for something, right? Drag your eyes across this handy synopsis: Six individuals are caught up in a supernatural perfect storm, as an evil lays claim to one of them while threatening to tear apart the soul of a small Pennsylvania town. Now that you’re impossibly well-versed in “Six Degrees of Hell”, why not watch the trailer? It’s a little bloody, so make sure everything’s clear before watching it at work.
