Another week, another lousy Raw, and another terrible 2.3 rating! Why won’t something give? WWE is firmly entrenched in the idea that Kane in a pair of slacks, and Seth Rollins are going to turn this thing around. Kevin Owens didn’t light the world on fire fast enough, so they dropped him down the card. Maybe when he’s 48-years-old and has a cushy corporate gig like Glen Jacobs, they’ll make him a top guy again.
Well, the most confusing wrestling statement of the week goes to SmackDown announcer Rich Brennan, who exclaimed “Speaking of perfect, Charlotte is trying to keep her record perfect!” Rich, uh…she was was just pinned on Monday in a tag match. Or do those not count? How about the time Natalya beat her on her Raw debut?
This week’s biggest question is: When did Dolph Ziggler became a non-sleazeball?...

Kane is one of the most enduring characters currently on WWE television. The man behind the long-running character, Glenn Jacobs, has managed to consistently reinvent the persona. This has enabled Kane to last longer than every other wrestler currently in the promotion besides Triple H and The Undertaker.
The latter has played a huge role in the evolution of Kane. As a matter of fact, the character of Kane was only installed to give The Undertaker a fresh-feeling feud as the company marched towards WrestleMania Xiv. Even though the gimmick was only really earmarked for that one major program opposite ‘Taker, Jacobs has stayed far longer than that. Today, he remains on TV as part of The Authority.
This article examines the key moments from Kane’s WWF/WWE career. Through all the title wins and main event runs, there have been several massive steps that have ensured Kane’s legacy.

WWE Studios have some success and some failure with their releases but with See No Evil the reception was definitely mixed. One of their earliest movies it used Glen “Kane” Jacobs in the role of the psychotic killer Jacob Goodnight and I will admit to liking it, it had its flaws but it was fun a fun horror with plenty of gore. When the See No Evil 2 was announced it caught the attention of horror fans with the Soska Sisters were taking the reigns as directors and bringing scream queens Danielle Harris and Katharine Isabelle with them as part of the cast.

Hmmm, interesting times are a-brewing in the WWE Universe, and not just in the ring but we’ll get to that momentarily. As far as the WWE World Heavyweight Championship goes, I must admit I was initially surprised when John Cena snatched the gold at Money in the Bank, but with Brock Lesnar back on the scene and Cena retaining the belt at the recent Battleground, all is becoming clearer in terms of the plans leading to Wrestlemania Xxxi.
With Cena and Lesnar facing off at the upcoming SummerSlam, the smart money is on The Beast taking the title from The Champ and then running with it until next April. Now as far as I’m concerned this is the right course of action, because in order for whoever dethrones the one in the twenty-one and one to really be seen as the ultimate dragonslayer, the man who took down...

Moreso a tremendous character actor in a pro wrestling ring than just another grappler on the World Wrestling Entertainment roster, Glen Jacobs’ near two-decade run as Kane in WWE has had more than its share of unusual moments. For the past 20 years, the way that the emotionally scarred brother of the walking undead Undertaker has related to both men and women on the roster has provided the most ridiculous, emotional, intriguing and always most gripping of moments.
For a ghastly pale seven foot tall man lacking eyebrows, Kane’s been in love more times than Elizabeth Taylor, married more times than Russell Brand, had more public meltdowns about romance than Rihanna, been more violent in and out of love than Chris Brown, and had more family strife than Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly Osbourne combined.
From his bizarre teenage (pre-wrestling) love affair with Katie Vick, to impregnating Lita with his demon seed,...

There are some things in life that you never imagine even in your wildest dreams that you'll end up doing. Sitting in a small theatre in London with 400 like minded fans listening to Shawn Michaels talk was definitely one of those things for me, but this last week my good lady wife Deborah (who also took the pictures accompanying this column) and I ended up doing just that.
We'd been to see the Wolf Pac last year and thoroughly enjoyed an evening of banter between Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman and Scott Hall (aka Diesel, X-Pac and Razor Ramon) once the initial poor organisation woes were overcome, but will all due respect to these three guys, this was Shawn Michaels, the Heart Break Kid. This was Mr Wrestlemania!
I'd kind of expected Hbk to be a decent guy, and a great speaker, based on...

A lot of people have been talking about Benjamin Morris’ 538 piece, “Are Pro Wrestlers Dying at an Unusual Rate?”
Like Morris, I am neither an actuarial scientist nor a demographer. So, our interpretations of the data should be taken with a grain of salt. My results were somewhat different from Morris’ due to a difference data set and changes in how we calculated actuarial predictions.
Differences in methodology from Morris
I also used Social Security Actuarial Life Tables, but my “expected mortality rates” for the age groups were not the same as Morris’. For each wrestler, I calculated what their age would have been as of today. Then, based on gender, I looked up the number of lives (out of 100,000) that were expected to still be alive and converted that to a percentage. His analysis looked at wrestlers who were on 20+ WWF PPVs through 2002. I went with a...

If there's anything I have as much of a passion for as horror movies it's professional wrestling, which has been a lifelong obsession of mine since well before the days my parents allowed me to make friends with guys like Jason and Freddy. Not surprisingly, it's been the horror-inspired characters that I've always found myself gravitating towards - guys who looked and acted like they belonged inside the confines of horror films, more than they did the squared circle.
With WWE's Wrestlemania 30 on the horizon, taking place this Sunday night, now's the perfect time to shine the spotlight on some of the scariest grapplers in the history of the business, which is precisely what I'm here to do today. So here are 10 professional wrestlers who have channeled the spirit of horror cinema over the years, and have brought together my two biggest passions in life!

We’re 24 hours removed from WWE Hell in a Cell 2013. Welcome to this week’s write-up of WWE Raw.
The show begins with a video package showing Daniel Bryan being kicked in the mouth by Shawn Michaels and losing to Randy Orton, who became the new WWE Champion.
John Cena is welcomed back as the New World Champion, and the fans, as they have for ten years now, are very mixed. A lot of boos from the adults in the audience, but the kids are having fun seeing the pink-shirt wearing hero back on television. I wish I could echo their cheers, but sadly I am not too happy about Cena’s return. I will say though, it does add some “oomph” to the World Title, being around Cena’s shoulder. The announcers put Cena over like their lived depend on it. Cena takes the microphone and proclaims that he’s back.

Professional wrestlers concealing their identities with masks is no new thing, dating back to the early 1900′s when a wrestler named “The Masked Marvel” was involved in the National Wrestling Association would. This was the first recorded appearance of a masked wrestler in America, and despite the mask commonly being connected to the Mexican Lucha Libre style of wrestling, it wasn’t until the 1930′s did the Lucha wrestling company, the first known as the “Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre” or the World Wrestling Council. However, over the history, various companies have used the masks in various ways.
The first is to hide the identity of the wrestler, mostly for privacy reasons. This was seen in Mexico, as masked wrestlers have tended to take their identity very seriously with specific examples of wrestlers never taking off the mask. An example goes back to El Santo, from the “Empresa Mexicana de...

Recently in WWE we have seen many superstars change their image and name. Joe Hennig went from Michael McGillicutty to Curtis Axel in order to save his career, Ryan Reeves went from Skip Sheffield to Ryback and has gained more recognition since even main eventing Extreme Rules against John Cena for the WWE Championship.
More recently we have seen Windham Rotunda change his name from Husky Harris to Bray Wyatt, although this has been a huge positive and lift for Wyatt’s career there has been chants of ‘Husky Harris’ through the arena most notably on his debut.
In this article I’m going to look at the history of name changing in the WWE and bring to you the superstars who have altered their persona for success.

Vince Vaughn posed for pictures with a seemingly nice man in a yellow shirt this weekend at a BBQ in Texas -- but don't be fooled ... cause that guy is WWE Superstar Kane (Unmasked!) and he could Destroy You!!It's not often you see the 18-year wrestling vet out in public without his mask on these days ... but Kane made a rare appearance on Saturday for Ron Paul's annual BBQ in Lake Jackson, Texas...

Kane made his WWE debut in October 1997 destroying his storyline older brother at the Bad Blood PPV and has enjoyed over 15 successful years with the company ever since. Although his gimmick has changed somewhat from monster to comedic entertainer and back again fans have always embraced him as a unique WWE character. What many fans may not realise is the man behind the mask Glen Jacobs has worked several very different gimmicks in WWE as well as elsewhere though none were as successful as The Big Red Machine.
In this feature What Culture takes a look underneath the mask at the man who brings Kane to life every week on television and traces his many different guises back to the start of his career. The sheer volume of different persona’s might actually shock you considering how long he’s been a mainstay in a WWE ring.
See how many you recognise.

Aj takes the crazy to a new level as she plants Kane with a giant kiss and Dolph Ziggler shines in the ring again as he wins a fatal four way elimination match to become the number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. Here is a look at the best and some of the worse stuff from the past week of WWE.
Superstar of the week: Aj
For her natural comic timing and continued excellence in translating her twisted persona Aj has been chosen as the superstar of the week for the second running. On this week’s Raw, the Diva confronted the three men in her life by insisting that behind the dark exterior she knows Kane really has a heart, that she would never forget her first love Daniel Bryan and that Cm Punk was the coolest guy she had ever met effectively evoking the sweet, intoxicating...

Sheamus continues to shine as a worker, Tyson Kidd and Antonio Cesaro steal the show on Superstars and Kane is still able to wrestle after receiving twenty six chair shots prior to a match-up. Here is a look at the best and some of the worse stuff from the past week in the WWE.
Wrestler of the week: Sheamus
The Irishman coming to the aid of John Cena at the start of Raw brought some much needed energy to a dire segment involving John Laurinaitis, Eve and the Big Show and helped to wash away the taste of yet another horrendous verbal performance from Cena. Later in the night, when partnering with the poster boy, the world heavyweight champion had some great powerhouse exchanges with Tensai, some brilliantly heroic brawling on the outside with the lumberjacks and solid back and forths with both Ziggler and Swagger who he also had...
