Brandi Carlile shared a fond recollection of the late Jimmy Buffett during an all-star tribute concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Thursday night, recalling how he would use her name to make friends with “lesbian fisherwomen.”
During a speech leading into her cover performance of “Come Monday,” Carlile revealed that she bonded with Buffett over their shared love of fishing. “I could call Jimmy up, it didn’t matter where I was, and he’d have some salty dog captain come out and pick me up and take me fishing — even if he couldn’t be there — off the drop-off, off of Anegada, or in the Gulf,” she said.

Carlile continued, “He just treated me like gold, and he used to go out on the water and make friends with lesbian fisherwomen by telling him that he knew Brandi Carlile and that they were fishing buddies.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani aren’t opposed to performing together. At one point, Stefani even quipped that she was the only singer her husband was allowed to do a duet with. But there was one joint performance that Shelton once regretted doing with his wife.
Blake Shelton felt Gwen Stefani made him look ‘terrible’ during this performance Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton | Taylor Hill/WireImage
Shelton might’ve felt upstaged by his wife during one of his shows. In 2016, he performed his hits alongside other Country music stars for the Country Jam 16 event. The event was held in Colorado, and featured other headliners like Brad Paisley and Zac Brown Band to name a few. It was a particularly special occasion for Shelton, as the singer was also turning 40 back then.
His girlfriend at the time Stefani wasn’t advertised at all for the event, and came on stage as a nice surprise.

Country music star Zac Brown and his wife Kelly Yazdi are going their separate ways after four months of marriage. The Zac Brown Band lead singer, 45, and Yazdi, 32, announced they are divorcing in a joint statement on Friday, reports People magazine.
“We are in the process of divorce,” the pair told TMZ. “Our mutual respect for one another remains. We wish each other the best and will always appreciate our time together. As we navigate this personal matter, we simply request privacy during this time.”

As per People, the estranged couple got married in August in Georgia. The country star had popped the question to the actress.

Today’s country artists love to namecheck icons like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings in their songs and during interviews. But sonically, they owe their greatest debt to Jimmy Buffett, whose tropical vibes, beachy imagery, and ocean escapism has shaped the last two decades of mainstream country. Buffett died Friday at 76, leaving an undeniable legacy that is still heard in the songs of country radio and warrants future induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The biggest names in country music are coming together to celebrate the best and brightest stars of the genre on Thursday at the 2023 Academy of Country Music Awards!
Hardy leads the pack with seven nominations this year, including Song of the Year and Artist-Songwriter of the Year, sharing three of those noms with collaborator Lainey Wilson for their song, “wait in the truck.” For her part, Wilson received six nods — the most for a female artist this year — including Female Artist of the Year.
Meanwhile, Miranda Lambert was breaking records before the telecast even kicked off. The “If I Was a Cowboy” singer received her 17th Female Artist of the Year nomination, passing the record 16 nominations previously held by Reba McEntire. Lambert had five nominations total this year and the opportunity to shatter even more records as the trophies are doled out.
