Dame Helen Mirren, 67, surprised everyone when she debuted her new pink bob on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards in London on Sunday night. However, no one was more surprised than Tyra Banks when Dame Helen announced that her new look was inspired by a contestant on the reality show “America’s Next Top Model.”
‘I just thought it would be fun to dye my hair pink. I mean, honestly, I was watching 'America’s Next Top Model' and the season where there were the British girls. Well, the British girl who won, she had pink hair, and I thought: 'That looks really pretty.' So I’m copying her, basically,” Dame Helen announced at the event.
“We love Ms. Mirren,” Tyra tells The Huffington Post. “Her smize [a word Tyra invented that means smiling with your eyes] and her America’s Next Top Model hair is to die for!”
Also surprised was Sophie Sumner, the 'Top Model' contestant who inspired the new look.

Can we take a minute to talk about the incredible Helen Mirren?
The 67-year-old actress continues to make headlines for taking roles that rarely have her "acting her age," as well as for her age-defying body (she won L.A. Fitness' Body of the Year award in 2011, besting the likes of younger nominees Elle MacPherson and Jennifer Lopez).
Mirren caught our attention again at the 2013 BAFTA Awards on Sunday, where she debuted a cotton-candy pink pixie cut on the red carpet.
And who inspired Mirren's gutsy new do? "America's Next Top Model: British Invasion" winner Sophie Sumner.
"I just thought it would be fun," she told The Independent. "She had pink hair and I thought, 'Oh, that looks really pretty.' So I'm copying her."
While many women are just beginning to embrace their silver hair, Mirren has moved on, showing if there's one rule for aging gracefully -- it's to just have fun.

Is there any 64-year-old cooler than Dame Helen Mirren? The actress, who is also one of my favorite people ever, showed up to the BAFTA Awards in London last night with brand new pink hair, and no, it's not a dye job gone wrong.Mirren actually scores extra cool points for the reasoning behind the new look: She saw it on one of the best guilty-pleasure reality shows around."I was watching 'America's Next Top Model' ... did you watch the season where they had the British girls and the Americans?" she asked reporters on the red carpet. "Remember the British girl who won, she had pink hair. I thought 'Ooh that's really pretty, so I'm copying her basically."You read that correctly: Dame Helen Mirren watches "Antm." Somewhere Tyra Banks just peed her pants in excitement. Here's "British Invasion" winner Sophie Sumner -- how do you think Helen did copying the look?...

Emma Watson has blasted the media for accusing her of dyeing pink a dog that does not even belong to her. The Harry Potter actress was photographed walking a brightly coloured pooch at the weekend, prompting concerns that the makeover could be causing distress to the animal. In response to the story, Watson explained on Twitter that the dog - whose name is Darcy - belongs to her friend Sophie Sumner, an America's Next Top Model contestant who is attempting to raise money for breast cancer research. She wrote: "I wish Darcy was my dog but she isn't : ( sorry daily mail! Was just walking her xx @sophiesumner @PinkDarcyDog. "I don't (more)...

In case you don't recognize the pout framed by these unmistakable pink tresses, it's Nicole Richie. The Fashion Star judge took to her official website this week to debut a new hue for her tresses. Well, we shouldn't say new. If one of Tyra Banks' Top Models is sporting pink hair, you know you're looking at a trend that's reached its zenith... Not to be outdone by Banks and her cotton-candy-coifed star model, Sophie Sumner, Richie looks eager to prove she can go pink with the best of 'em. And by the best of 'em, we mean January Jones, Ashley Tisdale and Lauren Conrad—all of whom toyed with the trend already this year. Katy Perry, meanwhile, is...

It was Season Finale time on "America's Next Top Model: British Invasion" (Wed., 9 p.m. Et on The CW) Wednesday night and the models braced themselves to find out who would be crowned the winner.
First, though, they had their last challenges, a commercial shoot for CoverGirl, a shoot for Vogue Italia and a runway show for Forever 21.
However, it all became too much for one of the two finalists.
Laura Lafrate from Scotia, New York collapsed at the CoverGirl shoot, sparking off a medical emergency. She was rushed to the hospital where doctors diagnosed a severe panic attack.
Next the girls were taken to Vogue Italia, where again Laura struggled but Brit model Sophie Sumner shone.
Finally, after the girls walked the runway for Forever 21, Tyra Banks stood to announce the results. The winner was ... Sophie.

It was finally time to crown a new Top Model, after a battle royale between U.K. contestant Sophie Sumner and American contender Laura Lafrate. But we couldn't get there before a little bit of drama (and more booty shaking from Laura). So what happened? And who ultimately won it all? While Sophie recorded the dialogue for her CoverGirl commercial (which was fantastic—but then again, she could say the most crude things ever and it would still sound absolutely amazing), Laura was shooting the ad for the makeup line. And right when she finished, Laura started having a panic attack. Yeah, seriously. The crew even took her to the hospital—but don't worry, she was fine and got back...

The "America's Next Top Model: British Invasion" cycle came to an end Wednesday night (May 30) and the winner is ... Sophie Sumner. This was Sophie's second trip to the Final 2, as she made it that far on her cycle of "Britain's Next Top Model," but this time it ended better for her.
The finale saw the girls do the annual Cover Girl commercial and print ad shoot. Laura has a panic attack in the middle of the shoot and is taken to the hospital, but she rallies and performs well at a photo shoot for Vogue Italia - her look is very complimentary to the high-fashion spa surroundings of the shoot.
Tyra comes to the house to give Laura a counseling session, to which Laura says in a talking-head moment, "She wasn't just a judge. She was Tyra Banks, a person, just like everybody else." Heh.

Sophie Sumner has been named the winner of America's Next Top Model: British Invasion. The 21-year-old Brit beat American Laura Lafrate to take home the crown and prizes including a modeling contract with La/NY Models, a $$100,000 CoverGirl contract and a fashion spread in Vogue Italia. Sumner has also won a spread in Beauty In Vogue, the chance to be a correspondent on Extra and have a single to be released by CBS. She will also be the face of the America's Next Top Model forum Dream Come True. After hearing that she had won, Sumner said: "Yes I did it! I never thought a Brit could win America's Next Top Model. "America's Next Top Model" will be crowned tonight, but will the winner be a non-American?This season's theme is "British Invasion," with seven girls from the U.S. competing against seven girls from the U.K. Unsurprisingly, only one American, Laura Lafrate, and one Brit, Sophie Sumner, remain.Laura (bottom left) has established herself as a versatile model with strong poses. However, her weakness is her runway walk, which got her cut from a fashion show in Toronto and cost her a couple of go-see clients in Hong Kong.Sophie's (bottom right) personality and enthusiasm have endeared her with designers; she booked all four of her designers during her go-sees. She's taken strong photos as well, and earned "best photo" during last week's "Dreams Come True" perfume shoot (the perfume campaign is one of the winner's prizes). The CW just released Laura and Sophie's final CoverGirl photos, and those might hint who the winner is.

The "America's Next Top Model: British Invasion" cycle is coming to a close and it's Brit Sophie Sumner versus Yankee Laura Lafrate. Who do you think will win it all?
In these preview pics, we get to see both the girls model their black gowns, presumably from their runway showdown (pictured above), while below, you can get a sneak peek at each girl's Cover Girl print ad. We can't honestly decide which one we like better - they both turned out really well.
However, we fear that since a runway show is a big part of the finale that Laura is going to be hurting. Her walk is just not as polished as Sophie's. Who do you think will take the title? Vote below!
And get ready to say goodbye to Jay Manuel, Nigel Barker and Miss J - none of them are returning next year. So sad!
