World War Z is an upcoming Marc Forster’s adaptation of Max Brooks’ zombie novel of the same name, and a project that we already wrote about.
But, today, we’re here for a little casting update, because we’ve just learned that Matthew Fox and Ed Harris will join the whole thing!
The cast of this movie is definitely getting bigger and I’m sure you all remember that World War Z already stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Anthony Mackie, Julia Levy-Boeken and James Badge Dale.
The screenplay was originally written by J. Michael Straczynski, and will be re-written by Matthew Michael Carnahan and as we previously said, we’ll soon have a chance to watch a zombie apocalypse from the first-hand accounts of those who survived it, and the project that will tell us the story of a man researching a zombie pandemic that killed a large amount of world’s population.

The breakout star of The Killing has landed a role to die for. Mireille Enos — who plays lead homicide detective Sarah Linden on AMC’s addictive murder mystery — has formally signed on to costar opposite Brad Pitt in World War Z, Paramount’s upcoming adaptation of Max Brooks’ post-apocalyptic tome.
Earlier this week, TVLine’s sister site Deadline broke the news that Enos was circling the role of Karin Lane, wife of Gerard Lane (Pitt), in the high profile project — and now the actress herself tells TVLine, “It’s official. We have closed the deal.”

AMC's new series The Killing premiered not too long ago to rave reviews from critics [1], and already its stars are benefiting from the exposure. Either that, or this is simply proving to be a very fortunate time in their careers. First up in casting news is Mireille Enos, who centers The Killing as its know-it-all detective Sarah Linden. She's in talks to star alongside Brad Pitt in World War Z, the adaptation of Max Brooks' zombie bestseller that only recently [2] was recently fast-tracked by Paramount after countless delays and financial troubles. She would play Karin Lane, the wife of Gerard Lane (played by Pitt) and mother of his two children. This marks her first major studio starring role, having otherwise had only a three-season stint on Big Love and a number of bit TV roles. [Deadline [3]] Going in order of importance, let's side track away from The Killing for a...

Mireille Enos has appeared in Big Love and, now, the AMC series The Killing, but she’ll make her way to theaters in a big way – playing the wife of Brad Pitt’s character in World War Z. Having never seen her work, I can only say I like the casting on principal. In a world where big budget films (like this one) have to have poster-ready names by the dozen in order to justify their bonds, it’s refreshing to see a relative unknown in what might an important role. According to Deadline Saskatoon, Enos will play Karin Lane, the wife of Gerard Lane (Brad Pitt) who is documenting the world a decade after the zombie invasion. Then again, she might also have a small role as someone he says goodbye to before heading out all over the world to get his story. So, who knows. Still, it’s better than Jessica Alba in a Lab...

Though it covers what has become a pretty well-worn topic lately (zombie apocalypse), Max Brooks' World War Z covered the subject in a completely novel way, structuring itself as an oral history of how society crumbled under the onslaught of the undead. Also, there's a remarkable lack of Borscht Belt humor, given that the author is Mel Brooks' son. Win/win.
The book's film adaptation continues to stagger forward, under the direction of Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment. Apparently, it's good to be the king, as Pitt himself will be playing the lead role of Gerard Lane, the man whose interviews form the base of the story. Now, the good folks at Deadline are reporting that Pitt will be joined by Mireille Enos, the star of AMC's critically lauded, glacially slow The Killing. Marc Forster‘s World War Z is on track to begin production pretty soon, with whispers coming out that it could start as soon as next month. A piece of news has just come in which shows that it’s development is chugging along even further, as Deadline reports that Mireille Enos, the lead actress in the acclaimed AMC TV series The Killing, is in talks for the part of Karin Lane in the film adaptation of Max Brooks‘ novel of the same name.
The role would have her playing the wife of Brad Pitt‘s Gerard Lane, the latter being described as a “researcher for the Un Postwar Commission interviewing survivors in countries that were decimated by flesh-eaters.” Written by State of Play screenwriter Matthew Michael Carnahan, it’ll probably stray away from the novel’s interview structure for something a little more traditional. The film hit some financial turmoil around a month ago,...

Another day, another zombie film to report on. Today the z-du-jour is World War Z, an adaptation of the Max Brooks book of the same title. Despite shaky pre-production grounds, Paramount is still continuing on with the film and have already cast Mr. Jolie, I mean, Brad Pitt in the leading role as Gerard Lane. While the role of Karin Lane is still not official, reports are the role will be filled with The Killing star and Big Love veteran Mireille Enos. Marc Forster is set to direct.

With the relieving news last last month that Paramount had found co-financiers willing to help them make World War Z, it looks like the adaptation of Max Brooks's zombie war novel is back on track. In fact, it's so on track that there's finally another actor to join the long-attached Brad Pitt in the cast; according to Deadline, The Killing star Mireille Enos has signed on to play Karin Lane, the wife of Pitt's character Gerard Lane. Though The Killing only began airing on AMC a few weeks ago it's been an instant hit, and playing the lead role of homicide detective Sarah Linden Enos is suddenly a much bigger star-- like, playing Brad Pitt's wife-level star-- than she was even a month ago. Given how hesitant the studio has been to throw money into the expensive zombie epic it's interesting that they'll cast a relative newcomer in...

With Paramount's World War Z finally looking to begin shooting this summer, it only seems natural that the cast would be starting to take form. Deadline's Mike Fleming reports Mireille Enos ("The Killing," "Big Love") has entered negotiations to play Karin Lane, the wife of Gerard Lane, the character played by the long-attached Brad Pitt. While it once seemed Paramount would balk at the chance to have director Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) bring Max Brooks' zombie epic to the big screen due to its $125 million budget, the film is now back on track after bringing in a couple of risk-sharing partners. I haven't seen Enos in anything, but what do you think? Solid casting for the wife of Pitt's character?

Paramount Pictures has reportedly added an actress to the cast line-up of "World War Z". Heat Vision reports that "The Killing" star, Mireille Enos, is in negotiations to take the role of Brad Pitt's wife Karin Lane in the big screen version of Max Brook's novel.
Enos made TV appearances which were ranging from "Sex and the City" to "Medium". Her notable appearance was when she portrayed twin sisters Kathy and Jodeen Marquart on HBO series "Big Love". Since 2010, she has been playing on "The Killing", starring as Sarah Linden.
Previously, it was reported that "World War Z" was unable to continue the production as it cost about $125 million to produce. However, Paramount found investors to help the film out of the crisis earlier this year. Now, the production is scheduled to start in June in London, Malta and other locales around the world.

Exclusive: Paramount Pictures, once shaky about the prospects of the Marc Forster-directed zombie extravangza World War Z, is now on track to make the picture this summer. I'm told that Mireille Enos, star of the AMC hit series The Killing, is in talks to play Karin Lane, the wife of Gerard Lane, the character played by Brad Pitt in the adaptation of the Max Brooks book. In The Killing, she plays Sarah Linden, the homicide detective trying to solve the murder of Rosie Larsen. This will be the first major-studio starring role for Enos, who starred for three seasons on HBO's Big Love. She's repped by Innovative and Authentic. There had been speculation that Paramount would not bite on the Plan B-produced Wwz because it has a $125 million budget. But as Deadline reported, the studio brought in a couple of risk-sharing partners that will include David Ellison's Skydance.
