DreamWorks Animation has established itself as a studio which consistently produces stunning animated films, and perhaps no more so than with its “How to Train Your Dragon” film series. The franchise boasts endlessly beautiful imagery, as well as incredibly lovable characters and intense action. All of these elements can be found in spades in the Netflix spinoff series “Race to the Edge,” as the show expands on these facets and digs deep into what makes the franchise so great.
As with most animated properties, the main demographic for the “Dragons” franchise is children. However, the creators of both the films and TV series have shown that this franchise isn’t exclusively for children; rather, it’s conveniently made accessible for children, while proving entertaining for older audiences as well. Whether you’re a fan of animation, the franchise, looking for a fun fantasy series to binge for a couple of weekends,...

In January, TBS launched their new cop comedy, Angie Tribeca, with a 25-hour marathon of all of the first season episodes. They then reran one episode each week in a regular timeslot. For season two, they're trying a traditional schedule. Will this approach bring better ratings? Cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.
A parody of cop dramas, Angie Tribeca revolves around a lone-wolf detective named Angie (Rashida Jones) and a squad of committed Lapd detectives. They investigate the most serious cases -- from the murder of a ventriloquist to a rash of baker suicides. The rest of the cast includes Hayes MacArthur, Jere Burns, Deon Cole, Andrée Vermeulen, and Jagger the dog.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated...

Every time I sing the praises of TBS' "Angie Tribeca" on Twitter, I get one of two responses: "That's a comedy? I thought it was another boring police procedural." and "That's a real show? I thought it was a viral video parody promoting a product I couldn't quite identify." On the one hand, this speaks to what a poor job TBS has done of marketing the show, which will debut with a 25-hour, commercial-free marathon of its first season(*) on Sunday night at 9. On the other, put those two misconceptions together, and you more or less have "Angie Tribeca." It's a real show, but one so committed to parodying police procedurals like "NCIS" and "Law & Order: Svu" that it's hard to put any one moment in a promo and not have it look like the genuine article. (*) There are only 10 episodes of that season, so each episode will air...

The starry cast of TBS’ new comedy “Angie Tribeca” was upstaged by a four-legged co-star Thursday during the panel for the show at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Steve Carell and Nancy Carell, who executive produce the series, were joined by cast members including Rashida Jones, Jere Burns, Hayes MacArthur, Deon Cole and Andree Vermeulen. But the group gladly ceded attention to Jagger, the German shepherd. After Jagger hopped up on a chair on his own, the first question was inevitably about what it was like to work with an animal who had such a prominent role. Also Read: Steve.

Amy Schumer and Bill Hader in TrainwreckPhoto: Universal Pictures With Sundance just wrapping up and Berlin starting up in a few days, we are now immersed in the year-long barrage of film festivals. One such festival in South By Southwest. A few weeks back they announced the first seven films of their program, including the opening night film Brand: A Second Coming. Today, they have revealed the rest of the features to be shown in March (except for the midnight program), and some of it has me very excited. The bigger titles announced do not do much for me. Paul Feig's Spy, starring Melissa McCarthy, and the Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart starrer Get Hard leave a lot to be desired in terms of anticipation, as does a work in progress cut of Judd Apatow's latest film Trainwreck. I'm guessing an Apatow work in progress is probably around three and a half hours.

Ahead of its upfront presentation next Wednesday, TBS has kicked off its new series pickups with a green light to the character-driven police comedy Angie Tribeca (working title, form. Also expected to get a TBS series order is hot comedy pilot The Buzzy’s. Angie Tribeca, which had been a frontrunner based on auspices alone, is a satirical look at police procedurals. The single-camera comedy, whose pilot was written by Steve and Nancy Carell and directed by Carell, focuses on an eccentric but brilliant group of Lapd detectives who investigate crime, reveal way too much personal information and refuse to rest until justice has been served…sort of.
