Awards season kicked off properly this week, with the Oscar nominations and Golden Globe Awards (and Critics' Choice Awards).
Boyhood and The Grand Budapest Hotel were named the best films by the Globes judges and both picked up nods from the Academy a few days later.
'Dick Poop' got a surprise nomination at the Oscars, but incredibly The Lego Movie, Ava DuVernay, Mica Levi, David Oyelowo and Jake Gyllenhaal were all snubbed.
"You can create this stuff, George, but you sure can't direct it"
George Lucas didn't pick up an Academy nomination (or much love from the fans) when he directed the three Star Wars prequels.
He perhaps wisely handed over the reins to Jj Abrams for the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII, but this week...

The presenter will front the Saturday night Strictly Come Dancing rival, which sees celebrities team up with their real-life partners in an attempt to master a different genre of dance each week.

Jls have said that Frankie Cocozza has let himself down with his exit from The X Factor. The 18-year-old singer was axed from show yesterday amid rumours that he had bragged to production staff about taking cocaine. Marvin Humes told BBC Newsbeat: "I think he's obviously let himself down and hopefully he's going to learn from this and bounce back in a positive way. "It's disappointing because obviously he had a lot of fans and I'm sure he's going to regret it at some point, if he's not regretting it already." Oritsé Williams added: "When you go on a show like that, you do become an example and in the public eye constantly. You can't hide anything - that's the thing about The X Factor. "Hopefully, as Marvin said, he's going to learn from this and he'll bounce back (more)...

Prince, Michael Jr. and Paris Jackson
The Millennium Stadium in Cardiff Wales played host on Saturday to an all-star musical tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Some fans were upset that this was a "for profit" venture put on by members of the Jackson family (only an "undisclosed portion of the proceeds" will go to charity). Even Janet, Marlon and Randy Jackson decided to sit the event out, and arguably the biggest act in the line-up, the Black Eyed Peas was a late cancellation.
But in addition to Latoya performing songs off of Michael's Dangerous album (oh joy!), some more established stars did perform for the crowd of roughly 50,000. Among them were Christina Aquilera, Jamie Foxx, Cee Lo Green and Ne-Yo.
Below you'll find photos of the event, some backstage portraits and several photos of Prince, 14; Paris, 13; and Michael Jr., (a.k.a "Blanket") 9.

Oritsé Williams has revealed that he worked the music circuit on his own before forming Jls. The boyband star admitted that he tried to make it solo alongside other British talent, before rejecting a record deal and creating his own group. Williams told this week's Reveal magazine: "No-one knows this, but I'd been working on the circuit with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Jessie J, just trying to make it, when I was scouted by Sony BMG to join a group. "But I walked from that group, because my main aim was to make my own band, make some money and change my mum's life." The singer also claimed that (more)...

Jls star Oritsé Williams is auctioning off personal items to raise money for a Multiple Sclerosis charity. The singer is fundraising for the Ms Society, of which he is an ambassador. Williams looked after his mother Sonia when she developed the disease - a disorder of the brain and spinal cord - when he was 12. "I felt scared and alone because I never really knew what it was or how it would impact our lives," he told The Sun. "I was the oldest and soon became the man of the house and my mum's carer. I also had to take care of my two brothers and little sister who was 3 at the time. "I would do the school run in the morning, make dinner at night and everything in between. I grew up fast - but I had to get on with it, just like every one of the 175,000 young carers in the UK today.

Jls have insisted that there is nothing wrong with using technology in music. The 'Beat Again' singers, whose 2010 track 'The Club Is Alive' featured heavy use of vocal effects, said that they shouldn't be criticised because they can still sing their music live. Aston Merrygold told Bang Showbiz: "If you get critics come and see the show, we can sing it live, so what's the problem? It's kind of pointless for them to criticise." Bandmate Oritsé Williams explained that their sound is part of a "new school generation" of pop. Williams commented: "Music (more)...

Cheryl Cole may be devastated by the news that she will not be allowed to continue as a judge on the X Factor USA, however, the news has definitely shored up support for the singer in the UK.
Legions of the singer’s fans have taken to Twitter to support the ‘Promise This’ singer and this morning, an unlikely celebrity also spoke out in support of the Geordie princess.

My gut reaction, my first reaction was shock and then I felt incredibly sorry because she has obviously banked a lot on making it in America and then the other emotion that I felt, I thought why?
