“The Boys” media franchise expanded in 2023 with an Amazon Prime Video spin-off titled “Gen V,” which tells the story of young superpowered individuals (aka “supes”) attending Godolkin University. Composer Matt Bowen, who works on both shows with Christopher Lennertz, tells us that the “one million dollar question” was how to differentiate the music between “Gen V” and “The Boys.” “It was a new corner of the world and needed a new identity, but at the same time, we couldn’t depart too far from the sound of the world,” he explains. Watch the exclusive video interview above.

Gen V executive producer Eric Kripke is opening up further about how the Boys spinoff will explain Andre’s absence during Season 2 following his portrayer Chance Perdomo’s death.
Perdomo passed away in late March 2024 as a result of a motorcycle accident. On May 5, the producers of Gen V released a statement that they would not be recasting the actor’s character and were instead opting to take “the time and space to recraft our Season 2 storylines as we begin production in May.”

With The Boys season 4 premiering next week, Prime Video is gearing up to begin work on season 2 of Gen V, its The Boys adjacent spin-off.
Midnight Mass actor Hamish Linklater is joining the cast as Cipher, the new Dean of Godolkin University. Variety described Cipher as “the charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. The upcoming second season of Prime Video's Gen V has added its first new cast member, with Legion and Midnight Mass alum Hamish Linklater set to join the ensemble as the new dean of Godolkin University, Cipher.
It sounds like this character was created for the show (though he could end up having a comic book counterpart), and is described as “the charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. Trained as a scientist, he’s politically brilliant, and has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level.”
The previous dean, Shelley Conn's Indira Shetty, came to a messy end in season 1 when Cate Dunlap's Maddie Phillips used her mind control powers to force the duplicitous villain to slit her own throat.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has previously confirmed that the Gen V finale will directly tie-in to the events of The Boys season 4.

“I never thought in a million years that this dark, weird, messed up show would have brought in this universal love that it’s received,” said Richard Gadd, the show’s creator and star, in his acceptance speech. He also thanked Netflix, his team and his mom and dad for “messing [him] up enough to make [him] an artist.”
Gadd went on to say, “It’s kind of weird also that a show as messed up as this has gone on to strike a chord with so many people. The Boys is one of the best superhero series with some of the most gory and violent action sequences. Based on a comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the Prime Video series is created by Eric Kripke and it follows the story of a young man named Hughie whose girlfriend is killed by a reckless supe, because of that, he joins Billy Butcher with a team of vigilantes who are trying to get justice against the supes, who are backed by their very violent leader Homelander and an evil corporation Vought. The Boys is just getting better with each new and let’s hope that’s the case for the upcoming fourth season. So, if you love all the gore, violence, dark comedy, supes, and genuine emotions in The Boys here are some similar shows you could watch next.

Chance Perdomo’s “Gen V” character Andre Anderson will not be recast for Season 2 of “The Boys” spinoff series.
Perdomo died at the age of 27 in March as a result of a motorcycle accident. In a joint statement released on Sunday, the “Gen V” producers said they will not recast the role because “no one can replace Chance.”
“Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our Season 2 storylines as we begin production in May,” the statement continued. “We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”
Perdomo starred in the first season of “Gen V” as Andre Anderson, a student at Godolkin University who harnesses magnetic manipulation abilities. In the season finale, Andre — along with fellow students Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan Li (Derek Luh and London Thor) and Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway) — is last seen being held in a high-security facility after the massacre at God U.

Amazon Prime has had a string of successful comic book adaptations, with both The Boys and Invincible being major hits. Now, building on the success of The Boys, the streaming service released a spin-off series titled Gen V back in September 2023. The series ran for eight episodes in total and was yet another smashing hit for the streaming service, which – of course – led to the announcement of a second season. And while we don’t have any release window as of the time of writing, we do have some exciting filming updates that could narrow down the possibilities.
The Boys is probably one of the most popular comic book adaptations ever made. The series is simply on a run, and with Season 4 arriving soon, there is a lot of good to expect from the future of the franchise. Gen V was ordered and produced as a functional spin-off of The Boys...

The Boys, Prime Video’s hit superhero TV show is returning for a new season this summer. Prime Video recently released a poster which came bearing 13th June release date.
The Boys is one of Prime Video’s biggest titles. Eric Kripke’s alternative take on superheroes has been widely popular and a Spanish-language spin-off is currently in the works while Gen V, another spin-off, was hugely popular with fans and critics alike.
At the end of season 3, Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher was delivered devastating news that he was dying after ingesting some temporary Compound V, which gave him superpowers. Maeve has also lost her powers after defeating (at least temporarily) Soldier Boy in the season 3 finale...

Gen V may have wrapped its freshman run late last year, but the cast is already slated to return for another exciting chapter as Prime Video renewed the college-set spinoff of The Boys for a second season. Following the finale, TV Insider caught up with stars Jaz Sinclair, London Thor, Derek Luh, Lizze Broadway, Asa Germann, and Patrick Schwarzenegger, who weighed in on cast and character superlatives. In the video above, they get silly and candid about everything from who would be least fazed by the chaotic world of Gen V to which of them is the “neat freak” of the group. (Credit: Prime Video) But perhaps one of the most important questions they’re answering is which character from The Boys (which returns for a fourth season this year) they’d most like to share the screen with at some point. “Butcher and Kimiko,” Thor answers easily, referring to...

In 2019, Lizze Broadway was at San Diego Comic-Con when the whispers began. “The Boys are coming. The Boys are coming.” A few minutes later, castmembers including Karl Urban and Jack Quaid walked by, seemingly in slow motion. “For a show I knew nothing about, this moment stuck with me big time,” says Broadway, who plays size-changing student Emma. Four years later, Broadway and her fellow cast were preparing to show off Amazon’s college-set The Boys spinoff, Gen V, at their own Comic-Con panel — a chance to assure the 4,800 or so fans of The Boys who were packed into the convention center that the new series would be just as raunchy and violent as the mother ship. The strike derailed that. But, months later, the Gen V team tells THR how it would have gone down.

As a member of the “Gen V” cast, Chance Perdomo has gone through many on-set experiences specific to those in “The Boys” franchise: being repeatedly covered in fake blood and bodily fluids, shooting scenes with giant genitalia, and saying some truly filthy lines coming out of a superhero’s mouth. But Perdomo has another surprising connection to “The Boys.”

Following a troubling cliffhanger during the finale of Gen V, is there any chance Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) returns in The Boys Season 4?
Marie, who can manipulate blood, is the leading protagonist in Gen V Season 1. Her tragic story of accidentally killing her parents the day she learned about her powers put her on a path of atoning for those childhood sins.
If her powers sound familiar, that's because The Boys' evil Congresswoman Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) has similar abilities, making her appearance in Gen V greatly important.

From compelling villains to the most unlikely of heroes, the Prime Video TV series, Gen V has it all. The show itself premiered on September 29 2023 and has been soaring in popularity since then. It’s worth knowing that the show had some huge shoes to fill seeing as it’s a spinoff of the critically acclaimed The Boys. This time around, the show follows the life of Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) a supe enrolled at Godolkin University. On the surface, she’s closed off and brooding, but she’s quite focused on her plight for redemption. The series also introduces an entirely new...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of “Gen V, titled “Guardians of Godolkin,” now streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
You’ve had a week since the “Gen V” Season 1 finale to theorize about where Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Jordan (Derek Luh/London Thor) and Emma (Lizze Broadway) are at the end of “The Boys” spinoff’s cliffhanger episode. So, do you have a plausible explanation for the medical facility with no doors that the four supes are stuck in?
It’s Ok, we don’t either, and just like “Gen V” showrunner Michele Fazekas, star Luh is no help to us by keeping his lips sealed — even though he’s finally allowed to talk about the Amazon series after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended — and refusing to be the spoiler-ific Tom Holland of the Vought Cinematic Universe.

Between the original series and the latest spinoff Gen V, The Boys universe has done a great job thus far of showing us the insidiousness of Vought and the supe-fueled culture that they’ve fabricated. However, the difference in perspective that these companion shows give us helps to paint an even broader picture of just how much Compound V has impacted the lives of supes and humans alike, and just how much work Vought has done over decades to normalize it.
The Boys has dipped its toes into showing us the physical cost that having superpowers can take through A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) and the heart attack he suffers after overdosing on Compound V to enhance his powers. Even though he recovers, he has to limit the use of his abilities for a while, which threatens his position in The Seven...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Gen V, Season 1, Episode 8, “Guardians of Godolkin.”] Gen V has delivered its first finale with plenty of shock and awe to keep viewers eager for both The Boys Season 4 and the recently announced second season of the Godolkin University-set spinoff. As Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Sam (Asa Germann) free the young Supes imprisoned in “The Woods” beneath Godolkin, all hell breaks loose as they go on a killing rampage, murdering any non-Supes they cross paths with a few becoming collateral damage along the way. While Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan (London Thor & Derek Luh), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) try to combat the sudden and dangerous situation, Vought’s Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) finds herself trapped with fellow board members amid the chaos. Eager to get the heck out of Godolkin, she calls upon the big bad of The Boys, Homelander (Antony Starr), to neutralize the situation after her desperate pleas to Godolkin’s ...

A teenage girl excuses herself from a family activity in the living room. When she gets to the bathroom, she discovers that she has begun puberty, a confusing and frightening situation for anyone. But matters get worse when the girl realizes she can control her blood, making it fly and move in the air.
When her loving mother, concerned that she’s experiencing the normal bodily changes of a young woman, knocks on the door, the girl freaks out. She sends a glob of blood at her mother, slicing her throat. When her father rushes in and asks what happened, the girl panics again and uses blood to kill her father. The scene ends with the girl huddled in the corner, terrified of what she’s become.
In another story, a frail teen enters his father’s stately bedroom to find him dead, shot by the recently fired groundskeeper. A...

The folks behind "The Boys" and its college-set spinoff, "Gen V," really love to explore the possibilities of superhuman sex. Sure, it's something comic book nerds have been doing since the genre began, but they really get into it. In "The Boys," there's an entire supe orgy that is about as wild as you would expect, some oral sex that ends in a crushed skull, and a graphic sex scene that involves a shrinking supe going into another supe's penis, so the team behind "Gen V" really had their work cut out for them. The college-age supes are having just as much sex as their older counterparts, and it's just as bizarre, as the show has demonstrated. Poor Emma (Lizze Broadway) gave the world's weirdest "hand-job" while shrunk down to the size of an action figure, for starters, and things only get pervier when the show's main supes wake up...

"The Boys" has come a long way over the years. In 2006, it debuted as a comic book series under the comic book imprint WildStorm. After it was abruptly canceled, the series was then picked up by Dynamite Entertainment, who continued to publish the comics until its conclusion in 2012. Although it's been over a decade since the main story ended, "The Boys" has continued to grow through spinoff comics and web series. In July 2019, the franchise got the live-action treatment through an Amazon Prime Video series. After four years, it's still going strong on the streaming platform with a fourth season on the way.
In fact, "The Boys" has been so successful that Prime Video expanded the universe with its first-ever spinoff series, "Gen V." The show, which premiered on Sept. 29 and concluded on Nov. 3, features a new set of wild Supe characters played by Jaz Sinclair, Lizzie Broadway, Chance Perdomo,...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of the Gen V Season 1 finale episode “The Guardians of Godolkin,” which debuted Friday on Prime Video.
“You took that blast like a f*ckin’ champ,” Gen V’s Andre Anderson (Chance Perdomo) tells Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) at the end of the Season 1 finale, which debuted Friday on Prime Video. “Anyone else would be in the ground,” the young superhero adds as he, the hemokinetic Marie, Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway) and Jordan Li (London Thor/Derek Luh) find themselves trapped in what appears to be an underground medical facility with no doors.
Directed by Sanaa Hamri and penned by Brant Englestein, the bloody and betrayal-filled season ender of The Boys’ college-based spinoff is both a handoff to the fourth season of The Boys and to the recently renewed Gen V’s Season 2. With chaos on campus, the Woods unlocked, a red-hot cameo by...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for Episode 8 of “Gen V,” the Season 1 finale (“Guardians of Godolkin”), now streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
Marie (Jaz Sinclair) survived her first semester at supe college Godolkin University — barely — but it doesn’t look like she’s going into a second one any time soon. As the Season 1 finale of “The Boys” spinoff “Gen V” concludes, Marie and her friends stuck inside some kind of hospital room with no doors and no clue how they got there.
For now, “Gen V” co-showrunner Michele Fazekas is mum on what comes next. “You’ll find out,” she teases, when asked by Variety about where exactly Marie, Andre (Chance Perdomo), Jordan (Derek Luh/London Thor) and Emma (Lizze Broadway) are being held and who is holding them, following that massive battle on the God U grounds.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for Episode 8 of “Gen V,” the Season 1 finale (“Guardians of Godolkin”), now streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
“The Boys” Season 4 doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but in a way, it has already started — at least for “Gen V” viewers. The Season 1 finale of “Gen V,” the spin-off to Prime Video’s wildly popular “The Boys,” featured Homelander (Antony Starr) and Butcher (Karl Urban) in key scenes that set up the storyline for “Gen V” Season 2. But according to “The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke and “Gen V” co-showrunner Michele Fazekas, the finale also leads right into what happens next season on “The Boys.”
In the episode, Butcher appears in a brief mid-credits scene where he’s exploring a now-abandoned The Woods facility. He’s clearly aware of the supe virus that the deceased Dean Shetty (Shelley Conn) commissioned and tried to give...

Spoiler alert: This post contains plot details from the Season 1 finale of “Gen V.”
Antony Starr and Karl Urban — who star on Amazon’s Prime Video drama “The Boys” as Homelander and Billy Butcher, respectively — reprised their roles in the Season 1 finale of “Gen V.” And it turns out they were gracious enough to do it on their “day off” from filming as Homelander assists some fledgling supervillains and Billy ties the Supe virus storyline to “The Boys” Season 4.
“Of course with Homelander, we were always kicking around, ‘When do you want to see him?’ And, ‘When do you want to pull that card?’ Because it’s a rare thing, and we didn’t want to squander it,” “Gen V” showrunner Michele Fazekas told TheWrap of Starr’s cameo. “It had come up throughout the season, and then it just made sense as the sort of thing to happen in the finale.

This article contains spoilers for Gen V season 1 episode 8.
It’s been quite a wild ride for the supes-in-training at Goldolkin University in season 1 of The Boys spinoff, Gen V. Things started with a murder-suicide featuring Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and his beloved teacher Professor Richard “Brink” Brinkerhoff (Clancy Brown) and then only got weirder from there.
We’ve followed along as our sort-of heroes Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Emma (Lizze Broadway), Cate (Maddie Phillips), Jordan (London Thor and Derek Luh), and Sam (Asa Germann) uncovered the mystery of God U’s secret “Woods” containment facility and with it a sinister plot to eliminate all superheroes. The penultimate episode of this first season concluded with the murder of Dean Indira Shetty (Shelley Conn) and the gang splitting between ideological lines regarding how to deal with the threat to Compound V-enhanced individuals a la Professor X and Magneto.

This article contains spoilers for Gen V season 1.
The first season of The Boys spinoff Gen V is coming to a close this week, and it seems like we’re in for a wild ride as the young supes of God U struggle to decide how to move forward after discovering the true nature of The Woods and its experiments.
With Dean Shetty (Shelley Conn) now dead at Cate’s (Maddie Phillips) behest, the threat of the virus seems to be quelled for now, but that doesn’t mean that Cate’s thirst for vengeance has. In the season finale preview, Cate and Sam (Asa Germann) band together to release the people being held in The Woods and seek justice for the atrocities committed against the young supes of God U. Their friends, however, don’t seem too thrilled by the gleam of violence in their eyes as the campus descends into chaos.

This article contains spoilers for Gen V season 1 and The Boys through season 3.
From the beginning of The Boys spinoff Gen V, Indira Shetty (Shelley Conn), the dean of Godolkin University, has appeared to be just another person whose morals have been bought by Vought. The secret experiments that she and Dr. Cardosa (Marco Pigossi) have been performing on young supes in the secret on-campus facility dubbed The Woods are cruel, but not any more so than what Stormfront (Aya Cash) and Lamplighter were doing to the supes held at the Vought facility Sage Grove in The Boys season 2.
Until episode 7, Dr. Cardosa even believed that the supe-targeting virus that he’s been working on was for Vought so that they could find a way to control supes and keep them in line. However, in the episode “Sick,” Shetty reveals to Cardosa that Vought has no idea about the deadly...

This article contains spoilers for Gen V episode 7.
Heads rolled (well popped) in the latest episode of Gen V, as Prime Videos’s The Boys spinoff delivered an action-packed penultimate episode that tied neatly into its bigger brother. The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has already confirmed (via EW) that the Gen V finale will include a “handoff” to The Boys season 4, and with some significant cameos during “Sick”, things are starting to come together.
The Gen V trailer teased the return of Claudia Doumit’s Victoria Neuman, with the head-popping politician stopping by Godolkin University to put one of her sinister schemes into play. Having thrown Stan Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) under the bus in The Boys season 3, she’s now on the way to the White House as a vice presidential candidate. Although we were on the money that Neuman was the mysterious benefactor of Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), that...

Since "Gen V" premiered, it became amply clear that there was something nefarious about The Woods, which seemed like an open secret among the adults occupying the ranks in Vought. As for the young adults, the weight of the truth was too much to bear: Luke/Golden Boy (Patrick Schwarzenegger) ended up dying by suicide due to the trauma of being mentally toyed with, while his brother Sam (Asa Germann) is currently unable to escape radical indoctrination despite being free. The others — Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Andre (Chance Perdomo), Jordan (London Thor/David Luh), Cate (Maddie Philips), and Emma (Lizze Broadway) — wrestle their inner demons over the course of the episodes, trying to help uncover the unsavory secrets that lie beneath Godolkin. Until one of them goes rogue.

Back at the beginning of "Gen V" season 1, I wrote about lead Marie Moreau's (Jaz Sinclair) blood-bending superpowers. Thus far, the characters have spoken of her powers with slight disgust, as if they're uniquely gross. As it turns out, there's been another blood-manipulating Supe in "The Boys" hiding in plain sight: Congresswoman Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit).
Introduced in "The Boys" season 2, Neuman first seemed like a good person, helping to rally the public against the Vought corporation and their out-of-control super "heroes."
