Chicago – Happy Pride Month 2024! One of the most beautiful and spirited LGBTQ+ films on the festival circuit last year was “The Mattachine Family,” written by Danny Vallentine and directed by his husband Andy Vallentine. Andy Vallentine talked to HollywoodChicago.com about his film that was partially autobiographical. “The Mattachine Family is now available to rent on all major streaming platforms.
“The Mattachine Family” features the very-much-in-love married couple Thomas (Nico Tortorella) and Oscar (Juan Pablo Di Pace) in a story about family, both made and found. When their foster child reunites with his birth mother, Thomas and Oscar deal with the loss in very different ways, and realize they have differing ideas on what makes a family. Loosely based on director/writer Andy Vallentine and writer Danny Vallentine’s own lived experiences as husbands and potential fathers, the film is a journey on the universality of love, family, and community.

Exclusive: Robert Morgan’s Talaria Media has launched development on Arigato Tokyo, a new drama set in the world of women’s professional wrestling, after acquiring a feature pitch by Daytime Emmy winner Mark Blutman. Jamie Anderson is on board to direct the pic, with Morgan to exec produce.
The film will tell the story of Annie Able, an aging pro wrestler, who despite battles with addiction and mental health, returns to the land of the Rising Sun to reignite her feud with local Japanese legend Hoshi Tokao, whose series of epic and often bloody matches in the late ’90s made them rich and famous. The Storybook Killer horror short tells the story of four friends who reunite looking for answers about the mysterious disappearance of one of their brothers that took place years before at an abandoned fairytale theme park. The four friends end up being killed off one by one over the course of the story.
The short was directed by Andrew Vallentine, and it stars Ricky Dillon, Ashley Argota, Meg DeAngelis, Josh Leyva, and Cody Saintgnue.
This is a fun horror short that I think some of you will enjoy, and the abandoned fairytale theme park is really a nice touch that added some decent production value and an eerie vibe. It was actually shot on location at the Enchanted Forest theme park in Oregon.

"Two brothers walked a single trail..." It's time to get in the Halloween mood with a horror short film. This one is titled The Storybook Killer directed by Andrew Vallentine, and it just premiered online thanks to Amplify and YouTube star Ricky Dillon, who stars in the short film as one of the main characters. The horror short is about a group of friends who go looking for a long lost brother at a nearby theme park, only to end up being killed one-by-one. The dialogue is a bit cheesy, but this is an effective and interesting horror short with some fun kills. The cast includes Ashley Argota, Meg DeAngelis, Josh Leyva, and Cody Saintgnue. Description from YouTube: "Four friends return to an abandoned fairytale theme park seeking answers to a mysterious disappearance from years before."
