Janhvi Kapoor’s Fee For Her South Debut Is 6,99,900% Higher Than Sridevi’s Fee for Her First Tamil Film! ( Photo Credit – Instagram; IMDb )
Sridevi undoubtedly has been one of the biggest superstars in the country. The late actress was also said to be one of the highest-paid starlets of her time. However, you would not believe the price she was paid for her first Tamil film (as a lead) with superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
The Mom actress was paid a meager amount of only Rs 5000 to be a part of Moondru Mudichu, a Tamil romantic thriller. The film was directed and written by K Balachander. This was the actress’ first leading role as an adult while she was only 13!
However, Sridevi’s fee for her first film is nothing compared to Janhvi Kapoor’s Telugu debut, Devara, which stars Jr Ntr. If a report in Siasat is believed, then...

Dublin, Aug 23 (Ians) The third T20I between India and Ireland was on Wednesday abandoned without a ball bowled due to rain at Malahide. The result also means that India won the three-match series 2-0.
No play was possible at the venue on Wednesday as rain fell steadily, and the capitals did not have to come out for the toss, with no possibility of the match happening, as visuals showed covers firmly over the square area.
With the requirement of the game needing to start by 6.47 pm local time for a five overs-a-side contest, an initial inspection by the umpires led to them concluding that they needed to have another one at 5:45 pm local time.
As the rain stopped and covers began to be removed, with players coming on the field, there was some hope of the match happening. But with plenty of damp patches on the outfield, no...

New Delhi, Aug 19 (Ians) Former India wicketkeeper-batter Kiran More believes uncapped left-handed batter Rinku Singh has the potential to become a brilliant finisher, just like legendary batters Ms Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh.
Rinku excelled as a finisher for the Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) in Ipl 2023, with the most notable moment being him smacking Gujarat Titans pacer Yash Dayal for five sixes on the last five balls of the match in Ahmedabad to seal an improbable victory.
Overall, Rinku scored 474 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 149.53 in the tournament, where he was the designated finisher for Kkr. His strike-rate while batting in last five overs of the tournament shot up to 186.66, the best-ever for an Indian batter in the competition.
“I have been waiting for his opportunity in the Indian team. And that batting position, of No.5 and 6, he will perform well in that spot and can end up being a brilliant finisher.

New Delhi, July 22 (Ians) Former India opener Wasim Jaffer said he was surprised at the selection of fast bowler Umran Malik for the T20I series against West Indies in August, citing him leaking runs in the matches he’s played in the shortest format as well as in the Ipl.
In eight T20Is, Malik has played since his debut, he has picked 11 wickets at an economy rate of 10.48. Malik is also included in India’s squad for the Odi series against West Indies, where he’s picked 13 wickets in eight games at an economy rate of 6.45. In Ipl 2023, Malik played only seven matches, picking five wickets at an economy rate of 10.35.
“I am a bit surprised by Umran Malik’s selection because we have seen him concede a lot of runs in Ipl and T20Is. I think he is more suited to Test or Odi cricket. He...

New Delhi, July 19 (Ians) Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed on Wednesday said Indian cricket team will look to win gold in what would be their official debut at the Asian Games.
He commented on the fact that cricket is being represented in having the chance to win a yellow metal is a matter of great pride.
This is the second time the men’s cricket team will play in a multi-sport event. The Indian men’s cricket team played at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in a 50-over format. The matches, however, were not accorded international status and were recorded as List A games.
“Our tournament starts for us from the quarter-final stages. All the teams would be good and well prepared. We hope for the gold medal for the country,” Shahbaz Ahmed told a YouTube channel ‘Cricket Basu’.

New Delhi, July 14 (Ians) Right-handed batter Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the India men’s T20 team in the upcoming Asian Games, set to be held from September 19 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China.
The 15-member squad announced by the Bcci also include Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma, all of whom are uncapped in T20 cricket.
With the men’s Odi World Cup scheduled to begin in India on October 5, two days before the end of the Asian Games cricket competition, the selectors have named a second-string men’s side.
Only six players from the T20I squad for the Caribbean and USA tour — Jaiswal, Tilak, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan — have been picked in this squad for the Asian Games.
Notably, this is the first India call-up for Uttar Pradesh batter Rinku, who had a very successful Ipl 2023 for Kolkata Knight Riders. On the other hand,...

In a freewheeling chat on a YouTube channel Cricket Basu, the cricketer pelted the sports presenter with candid views on the state of Indian cricket. And no, Yuvraj isn’t impressed.
So much so when he was asked about India’s 2023 World Cup chances, he said: “I am actually not sure to be honest if they are going to win the World Cup, I can say like a patriot that India will win. I see a lot of concerns in the Indian team in the middle-order because of injuries.

New Delhi, May 24 (Ians) India wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik has called for patience with prodigious young talent Yashasvi Jaiswal and believes that the talented batter doesn’t need to be fast-tracked into Odi setup especially for the Icc Mens Cricket World Cup this year.
Jaiswal shot to prominence when he topped the run charts at the 2020 Icc Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup and the 21-year-old has already replicated that form with some standout performances at the Ipl for the Rajasthan Royals.
Calls have been made for Jaiswal to be parachuted into India’s 50-over squad for this year’s World Cup on home soil, with former national coach Ravi Shastri recently suggesting the youngster could push for selection if injuries do arise to key players in the lead-up to the event. Kolkata, May 21 (Ians) Lucknow Super Giants (Lsg) held their nerves and survived a Rinku Singh scare to beat Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) by 1 run in an Ipl 2023 at the Eden Gardens and skipper Krunal Pandya was satisfied more than anything as his side booked a spot in the playoffs, saying that they never gave up despite being put under pressure.
Lucknow started the game on Saturday evening on 15 points and needed a win to guarantee qualification, but things looked bleak at one point, both in the first innings with the bat and in the second innings with the ball.
Asked to bat first, Lsg were reeling at 73/5 but were rescued by a stunning half-century from Nicholas Pooran which propelled the side to 176. And then, during the chase, they were under the pump having conceded 61 inside the powerplay. However, Lsg fought hard and eventually emerged victorious in the thriller.

Kolkata, May 21 (Ians) Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) batter Rinku Singh, who had a breakthrough Ipl 2023 season, is currently not thinking about the Indian team call-up and instead wants to focus on continuing his hard work.
In Kkr’s run chase on Saturday night, Rinku once again turned out to be quite a player. He kept the game alive right till the end as his late onslaught (67 off 33 not out) almost saw Kkr home.
He hit four boundaries and three maximums in the last two overs to take his side close to victory but they fell short by a solitary run against the Lucknow Super Giants as Kkr ended at 175-7 and eventually got eliminated from the tournament.
“The five sixes (which he hit against Gujarat Titans) were there in the back of mind. I was very relaxed and thought I will hit the way I have. We needed 21 runs in the last over.

New Delhi, May 20 (Ians) Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh opined young Rinku Singh was the X-factor for Kolkata Knight Riders (Kkr) this season and not star all-rounder Andre Russell.
Rinku has been the standout performer for the two-time Ipl champions. He has scored 407 runs in 13 matches this season at a strike rate of 143.31 and an average of 50.88.
“Now Rinku has become the X-factor for Kkr, not Russell. Russell’s era is gone. It’s Rinku’s time now. Even if Rinku is sent up, he can do justice to his role. He is a player of different calibre and we will soon see an India cap on his head,” Harbhajan said while speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live.
Meanwhile, former India chief coach Ravi Shastri said that Rinku is the star of the Kkr team and has a very strong attitude.
“Rinku Singh is the hero of Kolkata Knight Riders.

New Delhi, May 18 (Ians) Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has selected Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rinku Singh as the young batters that have impressed him in ongoing Ipl 2023 and feels that the two left-handed batters can present a late case for being part of this year’s Men’s Odi World Cup in case the national side is hit by further injuries.
“One is (Yashasvi) Jaiswal, simply because of the way he’s played this season. And for me it is a marked improvement from what I saw from him last year, which is a very, very positive sign.”
“It shows that there’s a young guy prepared to work on his game, sort out things, get a more all-round game into play and he’s done that this season. Just the power with which he’s re-taking shots. Just the pockets he’s hitting around the ground as opposed...

Moving on from experiencing failure on a given day on the field hasn’t always been easy, with the confidence and spirit of athletes taking a huge hit, especially with feelings of pain, agony and sadness taking centre-stage in the mind and heart.
In Ipl 2023, Gujarat Titans left-arm pacer Yash Dayal encountered failure on-field when Rinku Singh hit him for five consecutive sixes in the final over to lead Kolkata Knight Riders to an improbable victory in Ahmedabad.
Visuals of a downcast Dayal on his haunches, with tears in eyes and being consoled by team-mates made for a sharp contrast with Rinku being celebrated by his playing mates. After the game ended, Dayal received tremendous support from the franchise in-person as well as on social media to overcome the heartbreak of not being able to defend 29 runs in the final over.
Now, former India batter Robin Uthappa revealed how the...

With the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup to be held in West Indies just over a year away, Ipl 2023 has seen players like Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jitesh Sharma impressing everyone with their consistency and big-hitting skills in various roles.
"The next generation of T20 cricketers for a specific format is almost getting ready and are there, with a few more there too. So, the previous generation of cricketers, whoever they were, irrespective of their names, they will find it increasingly difficult to be part of the new template to play in, as said by India after last year’s T20 World Cup."
"If they want to play on the same road and in the same fashion, then you will see a lot of new cricketers and the last generation, which is the current generation, might not actually be a part of the T20 scheme of things,...

Chennai, May 15 (Ians) Kolkata Knight Riders middle-order batter Rinku Singh revealed that his discussion with captain Nitish Rana was about hitting only loose deliveries during their match-winning fourth-wicket partnership against Chennai Super Kings.
At the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, Chennai had a chance to seal their place in the Playoffs at home as Deepak Chahar took three wickets in power-play. But Rana and Singh had other ideas by stitching a 99-run partnership off 76 balls for the fourth wicket to take Kolkata home in a chase of 145 with nine balls to spare.
“When I walked into the middle, there was enough pressure as we were three down (in Power-play). I bat at No.5 or 6 and I have been doing it for quite some time in domestic and in Ipl now.”
“I discussed with Rana bhai (Nitish Rana) that we will only hit loose balls. We also agreed that we...

Chennai, May 15 (Ians) Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach Abhishek Nayar heaped praise on Rinku Singh for his sublime off 43 deliveries in the side chasing 145 against Chennai Super Kings, saying the left-handed batter is an ideal package to have in any side irrespective of the format.

“He is a very grounded and hardworking person, and I think it’s just the beginning and the tip of the iceberg in terms of what he is gonna achieve going forward because he is a level-headed, hardworking who wants to evolve as a cricketer and he is the ideal package to...
