28 October 2023 – The full moon, Saturday 28 October, sees the release of the penultimate track of Peter Gabriel’s new album i/o. This month the song is “And Still” and the first version to be heard is the Dark-Side Mix, by Tchad Blake.
Written and produced by Peter Gabriel, “And Still” is arguably one of the most skin-prickingly personal songs that Peter Gabriel has ever written. It is not just an elegy, it’s also an exploration of the nature of memory: how it tethers us, how it secures us.
‘I wrote a song for my dad a number of years back, which I was actually able to play him, which was ‘Father, Son’. When my mum died, I wanted to do something for her, but it’s taken a while before I felt comfortable and distant enough to be able to write something.

Whoopi Goldberg has been cast as Bird Woman in the series adaptation of ‘Anansi Boys,’ based on Neil Gaiman’s internationally beloved novel.
Goldberg will take up the mantle of Bird Woman, God of Birds, and one of the show’s key antagonists. The six-episode series stars Malachi Kirby in the leading roles of brothers Fat Charlie and Spider.
Set throughout contemporary London, the series follows Charlie Nancy (Malachi Kirby)—sometimes known as Fat Charlie (it was his father’s nickname for him; he’s not fat)—a young man who is used to being embarrassed by his estranged father. But when his father dies, Charlie discovers that he was Anansi: Trickster God of stories (played by Delroy Lindo). And he learns that he has a brother. Now that brother, Spider (also played by Kirby), is entering Charlie’s life, determined to make it more interesting—but making it a lot more dangerous instead.

Grammy-nominated sitarist, composer and producer Anoushka Shankar feels it is important to call out inappropriate behaviour, and says there is a need to amplify the voices of women at all levels of the music industry.
Recently, Anoushka used social media to call out abusive and sexually inappropriate comments that she received during a live session.
"In this instance I suppose I dealt with it by calling it out and refusing to accept it. I think it's important for us to consistently call out inappropriate behaviour, especially when that behaviour has been normalized, as it takes so much active work to change the status quo," Anoushka told Ians, recalling the incident.
Anoushka feels there are a lot of things that fuel hatred that women, and not just female artistes, receive in the virtual world.
"Sexism? Inequality? Misogyny? The question is not about female artistes but about women and inequality overall," she...
