The Chicago Bears will make their first appearance on HBO’s Hard Knocks throughout training camp, the team announced Thursday.
The Bears have never been featured on Hard Knocks, which has followed NFL teams during training camp since 2001. One reason is Chairman George McCaskey, who long opposed allowing HBO access.
But having No. 1 draft choice and USC man Caleb Williams at quarterback makes for a compelling storyline.

The United States Football League won’t just kick off its inaugural season on April 16. It will also use the date to launch a new behind-the-scenes docuseries aimed at getting fans more interested in its spring football efforts.
“United By Football,” a 13-episode documentary series produced by the league, NFL Films and Fox Sports, will try to give fans a feel for what happens as cadre of hopeful athletes compete in the Usfl, a new league controlled by Fox that will have its games broadcast on both the Fox and NBC broadcast networks. The one-hour series premiere will debut at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 on Fox leading into the league’s first game of the season between the New Jersey Generals and the Birmingham Stallions at 7:30 p.m.

Season 15 of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” didn’t require directors Tim Rumpff and Shannon Furman to completely rewrite the book on how to film the acclaimed NFL training camp docuseries, but Covid-19 did require them to rewrite several chapters. “We knew things would be different since we were covering two teams instead of one,” Furman, who oversaw filming at the Los Angeles Chargers training camp in Costa Mesa while Rumpff led filming of the L.A. Rams training camp in Thousand Oaks, told TheWrap. “Then Covid-19 came and we had to change even further. We were under the same NFL safety protocols as the players and coaches and we had to make changes to where we positioned our cameras to keep our distance.
