Stanislav Kapralov’s haunted-ski-slope horror is misanthropic, predictable – and gloriously good fun
Nothing warms the anti-yuletide misanthropes’ shrivelled hearts like a good old-fashioned Christmas-themed horror film wherein the evil inside human souls gets unleashed on happy-clappy hedonists. This Georgia-set spooky adventure story, although flawed, indulges that curmudgeonly instinct with a tale of a privileged white North American couple, Mia (Ivanna Sakhno) and Max (Alex Hafner), who arrive at a mountain resort where they plan to spend Christmas snowboarding and making lame jokes about the Overlook hotel from The Shining. This will prove prophetic.

Mia and Max are young couple who love nothing more than snowboarding. Max has brought Mia to a resort that has an infamous slope with the intentions of proposing to his love. Upon arriving they are warned off going to the slope by the creepy eyebrow-less receptionist. Unfazed by the lack of eyebrows and over abundance of creepiness our couple head to the slopes and because “movies” it’s all about to go horribly wrong. After being seemingly attacked by a leather clad jet ski rider, Mia finds herself separated from Max and must now battle the elements and her attacker if she is to survive.
Don’t let the title of this movie fool you, we are not in Christmas territory here, there is no Santa Claus and don’t expect to see any snowmen…...

"Danger - that's exactly what we're after." Lionsgate has released an official trailer for an action horror / survival thriller called Let It Snow, made by Ukrainian filmmaker Stanislav Kapralov. Mia and Max visit a remote European resort for a freeride snowboarding vacation, and decide to take a forbidden route despite warnings from the receptionist. Separated from her fiance after sneaking onto a restricted slope, Mia, a free riding snowboarder, must survive not only against nature, but the masked snowmobile rider in black who's now out for her blood. Starring Ivanna Sakhno, with Alex Hafner and Tinatin Dalakishvili. A solid snowy survival thriller mixing in the ususal survival elements of the cold & snow, along with a murderous man in black. At least the snowboarding scenes look legit and not too fake. Horror fans - don't skip this one. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Stanislav Kapralov's Let It Snow, from...

In addition to Lisa Langseth’s sisterhood drama “Euphoria,” Alicia Vikander also hit last year’s fall film festival circuit with Wim Wenders’ globe-trotting romance “Submergence.”

“Submergence” is based on the novel of the same name by J. M. Ledgard. Vikander and James McAvoy play a deep-sea researcher and a water engineer, respectively. The lovers are striving to reconnect although separated by oceans, continents, and civil war. Alex Hafner and Charlotte Rampling co-star.
The movie is the latest from the legendary German filmmaker Wim Wenders. He’s been having better luck as documentarian in recent years than as a narrative filmmaker. Non-fiction efforts “Pina” and “The Salt of the Earth” have received critical acclaim, while features like “Everything Will Be Fine,” shot in 3D and starring James Franco, have been widely panned.
“Submergence” opens in the U.
