Tom Selleck remembers Matthew Perry and the time he shared with the actor on the Friends set.
Selleck joined the sitcom in Season 2 in the recurring role of ophthalmologist Richard Burke, a love interest for Courteney Cox’s Monica Geller. The actor recalled being on the show’s set and connecting with Perry, talking about his father, as Selleck had a friendship with John Bennett Perry.
“Everybody couldn’t have been nicer to me,” Selleck told USA Today in an interview. “But every day I’d see Matthew, and I’d ask him, ‘How’s your father?’ And he’d always smile and we’d catch up. I got to know his father when I was a young struggling actor. Almost any commercial or pilot I went out on, there was John. We became real good friends.”

Actor Tom Selleck thinks the late actor Matthew Perry was the “most talented” of the ‘Friends’ cast. The 78-year-old actor appeared in nine episodes of the sitcom from 1995 to 2000 as Richard Burke, the much older love interest of Monica Geller (Courteney Cox) and he’s praised the “raw” ability of the late star, who died last October aged 54.
Selleck told USA Today newspaper, “He was raw talent. Matthew’s gone, so it’s easy to say this, but it’s true. I think he was the most talented of a very talented group of people.”
The ‘Blue Bloods’ star, who was unable to attend Matthew’s private memorial service in Los Angeles in October because of filming commitments in New York, found it “fascinating” to witness the bond between the six main cast members on ‘Friends’, reports aceshowbiz.com.
He said, “There are no bad stories. No star stuff. Nothing like that there.

Matthew Perry’s cause of death has been confirmed. The Friends star died from the “acute effects of ketamine,” according to an autopsy report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner released on Dec. 15.

Perry’s death was primarily caused by ketamine, the autopsy revealed. Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic with hallucinogenic effects, according to the DEA. The drug can make people feel detached from pain and their environment. It is used recreationally and has also been approved for use in treatment-resistant depression.
Perry had been on ketamine-infusion therapy, the autopsy noted, but the ketamine in his system was not from his most recent therapy session, which took place about a week and a half before he died, The New York Times reported.

“The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.” Wheeler, 62, made several guest appearances throughout Friends’ 10-season run from 1994 to 2004.

Actor Matthew Perry, who rose to stardom with his portrayal of Chandler Bing in the iconic sitcom ‘Friends’, breathed his last as he died at the age of 54 at his Los Angeles home. His portrayal broke new grounds, and over the years has become a mark of the 1990s.
One of the reasons Perry fits in so well as Chandler is his proximity to the character in some sense. Like Chandler, Perry’s parents too separated when he was an infant.
He grew up in Ottawa, Ontario and stayed with his Canadian mother, who was a journalist and served as press secretary to former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, the father of the current Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau.
As his mother later married Canadian-born broadcast journalist Keith Morrison, Matthew also lived briefly in Toronto and Montreal.

Mumbai, Oct 29 (Ians) Actor Matthew Perry, who famously played the role of Chandler Bing on the superhit sitcom ‘Friends’, passed away on Sunday as he was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home. ‘Friends’ is considered to be one of the greatest sitcoms in the history of television and a lot of credit for that goes to Perry.

Nearly 40 years since Courteney Cox made her music video debut with Bruce Springsteen serenading her and dancing with her in “Dancing in the Dark,” she’s back at it. This time, she’s the object of Ed Sheeran’s affection in a homemade Twitter video in which he sings “American Town,” a track off his upcoming Autumn Variations record, to her in a kitchen.

Most Friends fans remember the chicken and the duck. Most fans also remember Marcel, Ross Geller’s capuchin. The three exotic pets were not the only animals featured on Friends, though. Over the years, a smattering of dogs, cats, and even rats were mentioned on the famed sitcom that largely took place in Monica and Rachel’s apartment. We’ve collected all of the pets the famed characters owned over the years.

In season 1 of Friends, Ross Geller adopts a capuchin he named Marcel after his friend rescues the animal from a lab. When Ross brought him home, Marcel was young, and he was often seen hanging out on Ross’ shoulder, despite being illegal to keep in New York City.
Marcel appeared in several episodes during season 1 before he became aggressive.

Everybody Loves Raymond had a rather impressive run. The show, which focused on the inner workings of the Barone family, managed to carve out its own niche, despite having stiff competition. Premiering in September 1996, the show competed against the likes of Friends, Mad About You, Seinfeld, and Friends in the comedy genre. The series still managed to amass fans because it was different from the other comedies on TV at the time. The series finale is what really set the show apart, though. The Everybody Loves Raymond finale was subdued and simple, unlike the more grandiose finales that seem traditional for long-running series.

‘Scream’ star David Arquette has admitted he felt “inferior” during his marriage to ‘Friends’ star Courteney Cox.
The actor, 51, said that her mammoth earnings during the height of her ‘Friends’ fame was a struggle for him; she earned up to $1 million per episode for her portrayal of Monica Geller in the iconic sitcom, reports ‘Mirror.co.uk’.
David, who was by no means failing in his career during their marriage, said her success was “difficult” to swallow as he desperately wanted to be the one to “pick up the check”.
‘Mirror.co.uk’ further states that he thinks this stems from his “traditional male” values to “be the breadwinner.”
David told ‘Andy Cohen Live’, “In the acting world in general, you’re always going on this rollercoaster of popularity and, you know, not able to get a job… so, it’s like this weird thing.”

Los Angeles, March 24 (Ians) ‘Friends’ star Courteney Cox had her fans in hysterics with her latest Instagram upload as she channelled her inner Monica Geller.
The actress’ character on ‘Friends’ is well-known for being obsessed with cleaning and it looks like those habits have now crossed into the real world, reports Mirror.co.uk.
Courteney, 58, jokingly hid away from the crowds on the Hollywood Walk of Fame before taking it upon herself to make sure the honours for the stars were looking shiny and new.
As passers by walked over the famous names – including her own – Courteney came out with a spray and wipe in her hands and hit out at those dirtying the symbols.
As per Mirror.co.uk, in the Instagram upload, with Dolly Parton’s 9-to-5 playing over the top of the video, Courteney is heard saying: “You can walk around,” after they were seen to wipe their feet on the tiles.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame welcomed a new friend on Monday: Friends superstar Courteney Cox.
The 58-year-old actress, producer, director and entrepreneur was immortalized with a star at the starry event that featured loving tributes from her Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow and longtime pal Laura Dern. By the end, Cox, who was joined by boyfriend Johnny McDaid and daughter Coco, got choked up as she recalled how she never gave up on her Hollywood dreams despite running on fumes financially.
The honor comes ahead of the debut of another installment of the Scream franchise for which she reprises fan-favorite role as Gale Weathers and another season for her Starz series Shining Vale. Dern kicked off the tributes by calling Cox a friend, sister and “the most extraordinary person possible.” She detailed a trip to Disneyland when she saw first-hand the “delight and pure thrill” in people’s eyes when they recognized Cox.

From the start, Courteney Cox was different. She was from Alabama — a place where, she recalls, people were steelworkers or doctors — and didn’t know anything about show business. So, she sought it out. Never in her wildest dreams did she think it’d lead her to a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, to be unveiled Feb. 27.
The summer after she graduated high school, Cox moved to New York City and began modelling.
“I got a job right away and I thought, that was easy,” she recalls. Then the changes came. “It was a makeover. They took the Alabama fresh face and made a little funky style and it was really fun. They changed everything about me — they said I was Kentucky-born and they changed my last name to Myles. I don’t know why! But I never thought that when I was 18 it would lead to a...

Friends had one of the most illustrious runs in television history. The series aired over 200 episodes across 10 seasons before Joey Tribbiani, Monica Geller, Rachel Green, Ross Geller, and Pheobe Buffay put their house keys on the counter for the last time. During those 10 seasons, fans watched countless storylines play out. While most of them were great, there were a few Friends storylines that we absolutely could have lived without.
The reason for Monica and Pete’s breakup made absolutely no sense
When Monica met a millionaire, Pete Becker, she didn’t initially like him. He persisted, and eventually, Monica figured out that she did want to date him. They were pretty cute together, and overall they appeared like a good couple on paper. Monica and Pete’s relationship is one of our favorite Friends storylines. Their break up was not.

Matthew Perry is sharing how people will know he needs help. In the 53-year-old actor’s interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC News, which came ahead of the release of his highly-anticipated memoir, Perry discussed his struggles with addiction and how fans, friends and family will know if he’s in trouble again.
“If I say, ‘I’m just going to chill at home alone tonight’… If I ever say, ‘I’m cured,'” Perry said of the signs to look out for.
Throughout the interview, Perry got candid about his decades-long struggle, admitting that it’s “definitely true” that he should be dead. Especially, he said, given the fact that he’s spent half of his life in treatment or in sober living houses, and has been in detox 65 times over the years.
Perry’s struggles with alcohol began when he was just 14, when he drank an entire bottle of wine in one sitting.

If you've ever wondered what it's like to lounge on Monica Geller's couch, strum a tune on Phoebe Buffay's guitar, or sip a steaming cup of coffee in the middle of Central Perk, The "Friends" Experience can make it happen. After establishing a permanent location in New York City in 2019 for the show's 25th anniversary, the interactive experience - created in partnership with Warner Bros. and Superfly X - opened up in seven other US cities, as well as Toronto. On Oct. 13, the experience became available in San Francisco, so I took the opportunity to check it out for myself and see if it truly lives up to '90s vibes.

When the creators of the '90s NBC sitcom "3rd Rock from the Sun" developed the idea about an alien family posing as humans on earth, they did so with the hopes of casting John Lithgow as its central protagonist, Dick Solomon. Lithgow got on board, breaking his own biggest rule in Hollywood, which was to never do a sitcom. "The thing I disliked about the idea of doing a sitcom was that they would – that's all you would be able to do," he told the Los Angeles Times. "People would only think of you that way. The way Carroll O'Connor could never escape Archie Bunker, as great a character actor as he was."
Some of Lithgow's peers may have something to say about this. Courtney Cox earned her fame from playing Monica Geller on the sitcom "Friends" while she simultaneously established herself as an iconic figure in the horror...

Courteney Cox has mocked Kanye West after he claimed that Friends “wasn’t funny”.
Amidst the “Gold Digger” rapper’s recent return to Instagram, the rapper took a moment to clarify some of his past tweets, claiming that he didn’t write many of them.
In the now-deleted post, West’s caption reads: “This was not from me someone copied my style of text and wrote something not funny. I know you guys gonna be disappointed, but I actually didn’t write the tweet that said, ‘Friends wasn’t funny either.’
“But I wish I had. I’d love to know who thought of that.”
Cox – who played Monica Geller on the popular sitcom – responded to West in an Instagram Reel posted on Tuesday (7 September).

Television has provided unrealistic standards of life’s many truths for as long as it’s existed — from being able to hang out in a coffee shop during the work day to going on thousands of dates in a single year. But one of the most bothersome standards TV has warped audiences into thinking is what kind of apartment New Yorkers today can realistically afford.
Millions of residents live in the five boroughs, and more people move there every day with dreams of getting a 212 area code and a mailing address in the big city. If only they knew what they were actually in for. The 15 TV characters ranked below lease or own apartments that have become characters in and of themselves, leading New York natives and newbies alike to think they can afford an apartment like Monica Geller’s from “Friends” or Hannah Horvath’s from “Girls.” So, exactly...

Courteney Cox doesn’t mean any offense to Monica Geller or Gale Weathers or Jules Cobb, but there’s just something about Pat Phelps. “I don’t wanna — obviously, Monica and other characters I’ve played, but this is the one that’s just reinvigorated my passion for acting,” the actress tells Gold Derby of her role on Starz’s “Shining Vale” (watch the exclusive video interview above). “There’s just so many things to play, I’m thrilled. And then go right to comedy — in one episode you can play so many different things.”
Created by Sharon Horgan and Jeff Astrof, who was a writer on the first two seasons of “Friends,” “Shining Vale” is a 30-minute comedy horror series — merging two of Cox’s greatest strengths — that was pitched to the star as a comedy version of “The Shining.” Needless to say, she was was immediately hooked. “I thought,...

Monica Geller (Courteney Cox) had a couple of notable habits on Friends, amongst them cleaning as if her life depended on it. She also had a bit of a sweet tooth and had shed a lot of weight. There was nothing sweet about Monica’s love life, however. Until she met Chandler, she dated a couple of guys. Here’s a complete timeline of Monica’s relationship history: 1. Courteney Cox knows a thing or two about sitcoms. She shot to fame as Monica Geller on the iconic “Friends” and starred for six seasons on “Cougar Town.”
It’s no surprise she gets pitched a lot of half-hour comedies. However, it’s rare she finds anything that appealing.
“Usually they’re not challenging enough, or I find sitcoms just not that funny anymore,” she tells me on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast.
But then came “Shining Vale.” It’s not exactly a sitcom, but a horror comedy series on Starz. She stars as Pat, a novelist with writers block who relocates with the family from New York City to Connecticut after her husband Terry (Greg Kinnear) learns she’s having an affair. Pat, who is also a recovering alcoholic, believes their new home is haunted because she begins to see ghosts, including one played by Mira Sorvino.
