Jimmy Failla isn’t taking over Fox News Chanel, but he has, at least for one short period in the late afternoon, seized control of a portion of its New York ground-floor facilities.
The space is typically devoted to a space for guests to hang out and a section for hair and makeup, but Failla uses it to get himself revved up to tape “Fox News Saturday Night,” a program the network says is devoted less to red-versus-blue rants and more to making people laugh. The hallway leading to his studio was flooded with the sounds of rockabilly and Queen.
“True comedy doesn’t have a political party. Comedy is a party,’ says the 47-year-old comedian, who hails from a family of cops and, prior to his tenure at Fox News was supplementing his stand-up income by driving a New York taxi. “And at a party, you don’t ask...

As the special-effects makeup chief for “Saturday Night Live,” Louie Zakarian often has interesting demands put on his time. He once transformed Kate McKinnon into an offbeat mermaid. And he worked with Kyle Mooney to create the Baby Yoda character who made frequent appearances on “Weekend Update.”
These days, Zakarian gets even more outlandish asks, thanks to Sarah Sherman, the “SNL” cast member who might, during one week, ask him to devise a fake seagull that can be impaled in her torso while moving its legs, and, in another, order up a costume so she can dress as the oddball Six Flags mascot, but still get back to normal for a subsequent sketch 10 minutes later.
“I’ve been at the show for 29 years now,” says Zakarian. “I get some pretty crazy requests, but some of Sarah’s are really out there.”
So too is Sherman herself, at least during the...

An Ivy League college education guarantees success, right? Maybe.
In Netflix’s new comedy series “Friends From College,” a group of friends who all attended Harvard together are now approaching their 40s and have enjoyed a wide range of success in both their work life and at home. Their various complex and interwoven relationships with each other will range from romantic entanglements and old friendships that may still be shifting. These adults are no longer who they once were after graduating, and nostalgia is hitting them hard. That means maybe catching up on some experiences that they’ve missed out on. Fred Savage’s character in particular decides to snort some Adderall in the trailer below with some mixed results.

As more and more superhero TV shows and films continue to hit screens around the world, it’s become harder and harder for each individual property to stand out from one another. However, in that crowded ecosystem, last year’s Deadpool film managed to stand out incredibly well. Between its hard R approach and noticeably scaled back budget, it helped to drive home the fact that there’s room for more than one type of superhero adaptation.
Now, Deadpool may very well be taking his mouth to the small screen. THR is reporting that the Merc with a Mouth will be getting the TV treatment. According to the outlet, Atlanta star Donald Glover is hard at work to created an animated Deadpool TV series for Fxx. This is seen not only as a move that expands Glover’s relationship with FX, but it’s also a move that expands FX...

While Marvel has been pretty orderly about their cinematic universe early on, at least one movie fell through the cracks: “Runaways.” The project was one that Joss Whedon was once in the running for prior to landing “The Avengers,” and for a good amount of time, Peter Sollett (“Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” “Raising Victor Vargas”) […]

Since Aldous Huxley wrote “Brave New World” in 1931 there have been a significant amount of advancements made in technology and science. While many aren’t as extreme as what he envisioned in his book, it’s amazing to see what has happened in the last 85 years.
The classic novel looks 632 years into the future and anticipates new developments in reproductive technology, sleep-learning, psychological manipulation and classical conditioning that combine to profoundly change society. The novel’s subject has intrigued many including Syfy and Amblin TV who are developing a TV show based on the book.
Today, the companies, along with Universal Cable Productions, announced that they have signed Grant Morrison (“Batman”) and Brian Taylor (“Crank) to adapt the novel for the screen.
