We've all been there before.
You fall in love with a show. You fall in love with the characters. You fall in love with a Universe. And then, suddenly, without warning, your favorite show is canceled, and you feel a tremendous loss.
Television can be a comfort to many, and when you find that show or that perfect character that you connect with, it downright sucks to know you won't get to see them anymore.
Over the years, many shows have been cut short ahead of their time.
While others may have had a decent run, with years under their belt, the cancellation can still feel abrupt, especially when they don't get to end the series on their own terms.
We've seen fan campaigns change studios' minds and cancellations reversed at the last minute (S.W.A.T. says hi!), but unfortunately, most shows don't have that same luck.

It’s no secret that “Yellowstone” is one of those once-in-a-decade types of shows that has everyone talking around the virtual water coolers. And while fans eagerly await what we now know to be the final episodes of the show’s critically-acclaimed run, “Yellowstone” has created an itch in viewers that just needs to be scratched now, and we can do that via similar type shows.
And sure, we could suggest other super popular series like “Ozark” and “Succession” that also include messy families involved with shady dealings, but odds are you’ve seen them already. And if not, you definitely should whether you like “Yellowstone” or not. These are just the facts. We could also recommend the two “Yellowstone” prequel series “1884” and “1923,” but that’s kind of a given if you’re already a fan of the original. But speaking of, fans who prefer those two offerings over...

Pitch aired for one season on Fox during the 2016-2017 television season, and the decision to cancel the baseball drama greatly impacted one of its stars.
Starring Kylie Bunbury, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Ali Larter, Mark Consuelos, Dan Lauria, Mo McRae, Meagan Holder, and Tim Jo, the drama revolves around the first female player to join Major League baseball. In the story, Ginny Baker (Bunbury) joins the San Diego Padres, with Gosselaar playing her catcher.

It’s been six years since Fox canceled Pitch after one season, but Mark Paul Gosselaar can’t forget about how it almost made him want to give up on Hollywood.
During a Saved by the Bell panel at ’90s Con Tampa Sunday, Gosselaar recalled how he felt when Fox axed the Kylie Bunbury starrer that revolved around the first woman to play (and pitch!) for the majors.
“I wanted to quit the industry after that ended,” Gosselaar, who played catcher Mike Lawson in the drama from Dan Fogelman, Rick Singer and Kevin Falls. “That’s one of those, you feel like in your lifetime you’re not going to be handed opportunities like that, so for that to pass in the fashion that it did it was sort of a gut punch. That’s a role though, that I don’t make light of it, but I had to go therapy with my wife.

In a slight change of pace from my recent viewing pleasures I decided to check out Office Race. A movie that by all accounts was to be a laugh-out-loud comedy about a work-shy losers quest to train for a marathon and beat his asshole boss.
I think we have all gone through this particular event in our lives, right? No? Just me then? To be completely honest, I needed to close my brain off for a little while and have a bit of a laugh so this was as good a time as any to check Office Race out.
Pat (Beck Bennett) is stuck in his dead-end job, but to be fair he actually kind of likes things that way because...

If you’ve ever been around a runner or went to high school pretty much anywhere, you’ve probably seen the cross country shirts with the message, “Your team’s punishment is our team’s sport.” It’s not untrue that runners are usually not shy to talk about running, whether they’re asking you to make a donation in support of them running a marathon or trying to get you to come on a run with them in a snow storm because the texture is just better that way.
Yet, aside from films like 2007’s “Run Fatboy Run” starring David Schwimmer, there are no comedies that punch up at runners the way “Caddyshack” did for golfers or “Slap Shot” did for hockey players. So, when producers Brian Hunt of Believe Entertainment Group and Marc Lieberman from Above Average teamed up to make an ensemble comedy with a very specific kind of audience,...

Three TV dramas have reached the end of the line at ABC: The broadcast network has canceled Big Sky after three seasons and Alaska Daily and The Company You Keep after one apiece. Big Sky, created by prolific TV producer David E. Kelly and adapted from novels by C.J. Box, followed private detective Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) and undersheriff Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick) as they investigated crimes in small-town Montana. In Season 3, subtitled Deadly Trails, the duo teamed up with sheriff Beau Arlen (Jensen Ackles) to investigate an ill-fated backcountry trip led by outfitter Sunny Barnes (Reba McEntire). Anna Kooris/ABC Season 3 — which also starred Dedee Pfeiffer as Denise Brisbane, Jamie-Lynn Sigler as Tonya Wallis, and J. Anthony Pena as Deputy Mo Poppernak — had an average 0.25 rating in the 18–49 demographic and averaged 2.28 million live-plus-same-day viewers, down 18 percent and 12 percent from Season 2, respectively, according to TV Series Finale. Alaska Daily, created...

ABC is saying goodbye to three bubble dramas ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Big Sky, Alaska Daily, and The Company You Keep have all been canceled on the network.
Big Sky is coming to a close after three seasons, with its January season finale serving as a series finale.
The drama averaged 4.8 million total viewers and a 0.5 rating in Live+7 playback, down a bit vs. last season.
The Katheryn Winnick and Kylie Bunbury-led drama was truly a bubble drama.
The show has been a success internationally on the Disney-owned Star, but with ABC becoming home to 9-1-1 and clawing back Dancing With the Stars from Disney+, its chances of a fourth season diminished.
Meanwhile, the Hilary Swank starrer Alaska Daily wrapped its freshman season in March.
It averaged 5.3 million viewers and a 0.4 rating in the demo, meaning that a renewal was very much out of the question.

ABC has canceled the drama series “Alaska Daily,” “Big Sky,” and “The Company You Keep,” Variety has learned.

“Big Sky” is officially going to the big network in the sky. ABC will not be moving forward with the David E. Kelley crime drama. The network also revealed on Friday that it was axing “Alaska Daily” and “The Company You Keep.”
Despite its initial popularity, it’s not all that surprising that “Big Sky” would be on the chopping block. The series’ premiere episode reached 14.7 million total viewers over a 35 day period, making it ABC’s most-watched debut since “The Good Doctor” in 2017. It was also ABC’s highest-rated series debut in the coveted 18-49 demo since the premiere of “A Million Little Things” in 2018.
But as the series has gone on, its ratings have fallen. A show that routinely drew 3.5 million to 4 million live viewers per episode started to see more and more episodes in the 2.2 million range. This decline likely had to do with “Big Sky’s” story arc.

There will be no fourth season for Big Sky at ABC as the network has opted not to renew David E. Kelley’s drama series. It is unclear yet whether co-studio A+E Studios would seek a new home for the show starring Katheryn Winnick and Kylie Bunbury.
Big Sky, which had a straight-to-series order, was a breakout when it premiered in November 2020. It was one of the strongest broadcast series to launch during the pandemic-hit 2020-21 season and set a mini trend for a big-name actor (in this case Ryan Philippe) to be announced as a star of a series and be used heavily in the marketing campaign only to have their character shockingly die in the first episode.
Ratings for the heavily serialized Big Sky have significantly slipped since the high flying first season, with the drama among the lowest rated scripted series on ABC this season when the show aired 13 episodes vs.

Big Sky wrapped its third season earlier this week, and now viewers are wondering if a fourth season of the crime thriller series is in the cards. If the show is renewed, will it feature Jensen Ackles? He played the town sheriff on the ABC series, and the actor says that his character's future could take two different directions. He could stay put where he is or return to his former home in Houston to deal with his past.
Also starring Katheryn Winnick, Kylie Bunbury, Dedee Pfeiffer, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Reba McEntire, and J. Anthony Pena, the series follows the investigations of private detectives and police in Helena, Montana.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Big Sky: Deadly Trails Season 3 finale, “That Old Feeling.”] If you tuned into the Big Sky: Deadly Trails Season 3 finale to see Beau (Jensen Ackles), Jenny (Katheryn Winnick), and Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) rescue his daughter Emily (Cree Cicchino), you were left feeling satisfied. If you were hoping to see something happen between Beau and Jenny, that wasn’t exactly the case. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Big Sky Season 3 Episode 10, “A Thin Layer of Rocks.”] Big Sky: Deadly Trails ends its winter finale on a few big notes. In her accomplished 32-year acting career, country music icon Reba McEntire had never played a villain until Big Sky: Deadly Trails. “That’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while,” she says. “I’m really loving it.” And it shows. On the Montana-set crime drama’s third season, she beams as perfectionist Sunny Barnes, who runs Sunny Day Excursions with her slightly cowed husband, Buck. Her tightly controlled life is rocked when a hiker and then a Sunny Day camper named Paige (Madalyn Horcher) go missing. (Paige’s situation was revealed on October 19.) Fearing the involvement of her disturbed secret son Walter (Seth Gabel), who is hidden in a nearby cabin, the mama bear shows her claws. As private detective Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) closes in — and fellow country singers Lyle Lovett and Darius Rucker pop up as trackers in the November 2 episode — Sunny and Buck are increasingly desperate to misdirect her.

Jensen Ackles and Katheryn Winnick in ‘Big Sky’ season 3 episode 1 (ABC/Michael Moriatis)
A hiker’s threatened by a creepy stranger and falls to his death in the first few minutes of ABC’s Big Sky season three episode one. Plus, it’s disclosed Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) broke up with Mark, and he and Jerrie are off hunting the cartel. (Cassie says what we all think – Mark and Jerrie are good together.) And Jenny (Katheryn Winnick), Cassie, and Denise (Dedee Pfeiffer) all agree Beau really fills out his jeans – all before the opening credits roll.
We also quickly learn the detective agency’s main case this season will be figuring out what happened to the missing hiker.
Beau (Jensen Ackles) scores major points by complimenting Denise’s veggie lasagna. Cassie notes Denise – who she calls Mrs. Robinson – has never cooked lasagna for her as Jenny and Beau head off to work.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Big Sky: Deadly Trails Season 3 premiere “Do You Love An Apple.”] In Season 3, Big Sky is deadly and fun. The new mystery for Cassie (Kylie Bunbury) — and eventually Jenny (Katheryn Winnick) and Beau (Jensen Ackles) — involves a missing backpacker, which takes her to Sunny Barnes’ (Reba McEntire) business. As the opening showed, it’s the mysterious Walter (Seth Gabel) who’s responsible, having stalked the backpacker on the trail until he backed off a cliff. And as the premiere ends, it’s Sunny who seeks out Walter in the woods in the dead of night with a s’more. “Momma brought you a treat,” she says. “She’s a very protective mother and she’s very secretive about Walter and you’ll understand why later on, but it’s a little creepy, a little endearing,” McEntire tells TV Insider. “It’s an ongoing development of their relationship and how they interact. Reba McEntire has joined the cast of Big Sky: Deadly Trails and is opening up about playing a darker character than what audiences would expect from her. The country star also teased if viewers would be able to see a musical performance as her character Sunny Barnes in the ABC drama.
“I get to hum a little bit, and sing a little but, but we’ll see,” McEntire said during the ABC TCA panel.
Showrunner and executive producer Elwood Reid said that “there may be a little space for her to sing.” However, given that Sunny is on a “pretty dark journey” her song might be a “murder ballad.” Reid also added that during the Country Music Awards this year, they are hoping to have “some fun country music stars coming in and cameo on the show.”
