[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Breeders” Season 4, Episode 10, “No Matter What: Part Two,” the series finale.]
Typically, when a parent is caught screaming at their child, it’s not the errant adult who needs comforting. But “Breeders” — the FX series about childcare’s unexpected, even unbearable burdens — knows that good moms and dads can have bad moments. Martin Freeman, Chris Addison, and Simon Blackwell’s dark comedy offers itself, time and again, as a shoulder to cry on for caregivers who’ve given so much, they’re no longer themselves. It does so again during Episode 10, “No Matter What,” wrapping its figurative arms around the infuriated father. Well, fathers.
In the series finale, Luke (Oscar Kennedy) is at his wit’s end. He’s been traveling back and forth between Manchester and London, the former for a coveted music production course at the Manchester Institute and the latter to see his girlfriend, Maya (Deepica Stephen), and their newborn son,...

In its fourth and final season, FX’s “Breeders” is ending exactly the way its three creators always wanted: with brutal honesty.
“We did always want it to be honest, that’s for sure,” Martin Freeman told TheWrap in an interview conducted ahead of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. “From me, Simon Blackwell and Chris Addison’s first conversations about this show — when we were making what it would be six or seven years ago — it was basically a collection of all the things that were difficult about being parents.”
Freeman likened those initial conversations to a “comedy therapy session,” adding that he always wanted the show to be “fairly unflinching” and “not too pretty.”
According to the co-creator, executive producer and star, “very, very early on” the plan was to follow the series’ central family from when the kids were very young through college age. “We weren’t exactly...

When FX announced late last month that its hit comedy series Breeders was ending, we didn't anticipate the trailer for the fourth and final season would have this much closure.
FX went public with the Breeders Season 4 trailer on Wednesday, and it's filled with bombshells about your favorite characters.
Before we get into the revelations, we should probably remind you that there's a five-year time jump by the time the series returns.
Paul and Ally are left blindsided when Luke reveals he's leaving the family home because his girlfriend is pregnant.
The teenager is ready to embrace the new chapter of his life away from the prying eyes of his family.
Ava reveals that she has feelings for her grandad's hairdresser, which leaves the family with many questions.
And it wouldn't be Breeders without some drama from Paul and Ally.
They're like the glue that holds the show together, but somehow,...

A slasher series set aboard a cruise ship, with a plucky duck mascot employed as the face of its killer, sure sounds like a delightful time, doesn’t it? That setup is only the tip of the iceberg in the inaugural six-episode season of “Wreck,” created by Ryan J. Brown and helmed by Chris Baugh (Boys from County Hell). Hidden behind the Quacky the Duck mask is a larger murder-mystery conspiracy, charming characters, and a reverence for the horror genre.
“Wreck” introduces its setting, the Ms Sacramentum, and its inciting mystery with an opening sequence that pays tribute to Halloween H20. Pippa (Jodie Tyack) breaks up with her boyfriend, Danny (Jack Rowan), then gets pursued across the deck by the ship’s mascot, Quacky, who is ominously wielding a knife. The screen fades to black before Pippa’s fate gets revealed. Cut to three months later, 19-year-old Jamie (Oscar Kennedy...

Exclusive: Season two of Euston Films’ BBC Three horror comedy Wreck is in development prior to the first airing, as creator Ryan J. Brown opens up about portraying queer identity and a scarcity of British slasher.
Newly-promoted Euston MD Noemi Spanos and Brown told Deadline they are busy developing the second season and Brown always planned the show to run for at least three. Meanwhile, the horror comedy is one of distributor Fremantle’s flagships being pushed to international buyers at Mipcom later this month. It launches on Sunday October 9.
The cast of Wreck
The genre-bending show, a youth-skewing horror set on a cruise ship that has comic elements, “lends itself well to international sales,” according to Spanos. “The boat itself has a very international cast of characters coming together that should give it a broad reach,” she added, stating that Wreck’s trailer has already attracted widespread attention on social media.

Lad. For many, the word conjures images of toxic masculinity – lad mags, lad culture, LadBible (before it went mainstream). But for a young Liam Williams, living in the small town of Garforth near Leeds, it was simply a term of endearment. “When I grew up, ‘lad’ was quite a Yorkshire…” he pauses, careful not to claim “lad” as entirely his. “It’s not exclusively Yorkshire, but it’s quite a Yorkshire idiom. As we were becoming teenagers and playing with more adult identities and imitating parents or people, older men, I guess, I remember ‘lad’ coming into our vocabulary. It created a nice sense of belonging in the group.” He adopts a Yorkshire accent, presumably reminiscent of one he once had: “’Ow’re you doing lad, ’ey up lad.”

Last year, we shared the news that Fremantle’s Euston Films is set to produce a six-part horror comedy series called Wrecked for BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. Euston’s Noemi Spanos and BBC’s Tommy Bulfin executive produced the show, which has been written by Ryan J. Brown – who said he “wanted to create a piece of genre entertainment that had the savvy teen sharpness of Scream, the unsettling atmosphere of The Shining and the strange upstairs, downstairs mythology of The Cabin in the Woods.” Wrecked is now set to premiere at London’s Fright Fest on August 26th (the show will launch on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer later this autumn), and in anticipation of the premiere a batch of images from the show have arrived online… images that seem to reveal that the killer wears a duck costume and is called Quacky! The images can be seen...

Oscar Kennedy (“Ladhood”) and Jack Rowan (“Noughts + Crosses”) have joined new BBC comedy horror series “Wrecked.”
Described as a “tense thriller” set aboard a cruise ship, the six-episode series is both comic with a “slice of slasher.” It is currently in production in Northern Ireland.
Kennedy stars as Jamie, who infiltrates a cruise ship called The Sacramentum, in a bid to find his sister, who has gone missing after working aboard the ship on a previous tour.
As Jamie is initiated into the 3,000-strong crew he meets the different factions it’s comprised of, from the theater workers to the “mafias” and low-paid staff, and their life of partying and excess. Meanwhile a series of bloodthirsty murders are taking place on board, which Jamie is determined to uncover.
Joining Kennedy and Rowan, are Thaddea Graham (“The Irregulars”) as Vivian, Harriet Webb (“I May Destroy You”) as Karen and Jodie Tyack (“The Window”) as Pippa.

Teenager Lee (Oscar Kennedy) is known as a troublemaker at St Mark's School for Boys. When he is caught with drugs, it's the final straw, and the headmaster sends him packing; but shortly after he returns home, a global pandemic leads to the collapse of civilisation. When his father dies, he is urged by his mother, who is overseas, to go back to the school for safety, and he finds a community of other boys holding out there with the support of a teacher and the school nurse. Can they hold out until order is restored, or are they too naïve and ill-equipped to deal with the way that other survivors are reorganising the world around them?

School’S Out Forever is available on digital download now and on Blu-ray and DVD from 12th April, and to celebrate the release, we have one competition bundle up for grabs. The bundle includes the Blu-ray, a special School’S Out Forever rucksack and a t-shirt.
No sooner has 15-year-old Lee Keegan been expelled from his private school than a pandemic spreads like wildfire around the globe. With his father dead and mother trapped abroad, Lee is given one instruction: go back to school. But safety and security at St. Mark’s School for Boys is in short supply. Its high walls can’t stop the local parish council from forming a militia and imposing martial law, while inside the dorms the end of the world is having a dangerous effect on his best friend and his unrequited crush on the school nurse isn’t helping him concentrate on staying alive.

Don’t be fooled by the somewhat playful title of this Oliver Milburn production, as School’s Out Forever is a dark and twisted endeavour, with a Lord of the Flies element to the narrative, and a scarily relevant theme that ties all too well into the world we currently inhabit. To mark the film’s release, on digital download from today and on DVD and Blu-ray from April 12th, we had the pleasure of speaking to the aforementioned writer/director, as well as two of the leading stars, Oscar Kennedy and Alex Macqueen. Be sure to watch both interviews in their entirety, as we discuss the themes of the movie, the pandemic and we look back over teacher that made an impression on them – perhaps more so than those in the movie manage…

As a mid-range games studio Rebellion has never exactly made major waves in the market. They seem content to limp along with the basically competent ‘Sniper Elite’ series and the occasional oddity such as ‘Strange Brigade’. As a publisher though they’ve stood out thanks to their ’90s era pop punk attitude and continued ownership of Judge Dredd. So the news that they were to expand into a film and television studio was an exciting prospect and made their debut feature one to watch. Sadly though, if School’s Out Forever is any indication, we shouldn’t hold out hope for a stunning follow-up to 2012’s Dredd anytime soon.
No, School’s Out Forever is a hot mess of a film. A tonally imbalanced, badly scripted attempt at the kind of anarchic action fare that makes up Rebellion’s typical output. Set at an elite private school the film focuses on a...

Lord of the Flies meets The Road in this ruthless, thrilling romp about posh boarding school kids fighting a deadly virus
Adapted from a trilogy of young adult books by Scott K Andrews, that forms part of the “shared world” Afterblight Chronicles series, this gory British boys’ school-set sci-fi posits a deadly virus that swiftly kills almost everyone everywhere except those with a particular blood type. "Promise me you'll get out alive." An international trailer has debuted for a WWII thriller titled HHhH, or also The Man With The Iron Heart, since no one really knows what HHhH means. The film tells the story of the assassination plot of Reinhard Heydrich in Prague, in May, 1942, when the Third Reich is at the peak of its power. This is the same mission known as "Anthropoid" that the other film titled Anthropoid is based on - they are the same exact stories, different films. This one also features an impressive international cast including Jason Clarke, Rosamund Pike, Jack O'Connell, Jack Reynor, Noah Jupe, Adam Nagaitis, Enzo Cilenti, Oscar Kennedy, and Mia Wasikowska. This was finished a few years ago, but has been kept in the can ever since, perhaps to distance itself from the other Anthropoid film. Check it out. Here's the first international trailer (+ poster) for Cédric Jimenez's HHhH,...
