Often, the best movies tell a very simple story but they tell that story extremely well and Hall, featured at both Frightfest and Blood in the Snow festivals, is no different. From the very start we see a group of people in a hotel hallway, struggling with a debilitating sickness that seems to have spread through them all, each trying to escape the horror of it.
Like I say, this is all in the opening scene so where does it go from there? Well maybe unsurprisingly the movie goes back in time to show us some of the stories about why people are in the hotel and the issues they are having there. The locations don’t stray away from the hotel though...

"The end of the world starts at the end of the... hall." Strike Media in the UK has launched an official trailer for an indie contained horror thriller titled Hall, the first narrative feature from actor-turned-filmmaker Francesco Giannini. This premiered at FrightFest last year and will open in the UK in September, but has no US release announced yet. When a debilitating virus spreads across a hotel hallway, scattered victims must fight for survival. Fear is spreading... Who will make it out alive? What do you even do? Who will navigate their way out of the hotel corridor through the long and narrow stretch of isolated carnage? Starring Julian Richings, Carolina Bartczak, Yumiko Shaku, Mark Gibson, & Vlasta Vrana. Yeah, this definitely looks freaky, but it's not exactly the most original idea - especially with a real virus still threatening all of us. Here's the official UK trailer (+ posters) for Francesco Giannini's Hall,...

"...'William Cassidy' (Richings) is a man who has had steady interactions with extraterrestrials for the last 40 years, which has left him so filled with paranoia and fear that he now spends his days as a blogger living in seclusion.
"He contacts 'Joe Sullivan' (Adam Seybold), an alien researcher and conspiracy theorist blogger, and invites him to his home on the night of a solar event that Cassidy believes could be potentially dangerous to Earth.
"The film switches back and forth between footage from that night to a later day where Cassidy is being interrogated by an unseen person..."
Cast also includes Lisa Houle as 'Dr. Tobin', Mark Gibson as 'Agent Brinkman', Justin Darmanin as 'Agent Falco',...

Aliens can be annoying, especially with all the probing and implanting they seem to do. Ejecta features a character that shows just why this is the case, especially if the aliens use the victims head as a radio conductor for their conversations. When people who complain about such things are normally seen as crazy, what happens if they are telling the truth? Then you get a film like Ejecta.
Ejecta focuses on William Cassidy (Julian Richings) who at the beginning of the film is captured by an anonymous group wanting to know the truth about the aliens he says he has encountered. Watching footage found recorded by still missing Joe Sullivan (Adam Seybold) featuring the recent actions of the duo Dr.

Exit Humanity
Stars: Dee Wallace, Brian Cox, Bill Moseley, Stephen McHattie, Mark Gibson, Jordan Hayes, Adam Seybold | Written and Directed by John Geddes
The zombie film seems easy sometimes. Just pick a setting stuff the undead in it and make the human characters shoot them to survive. It’s easy, and it makes money. Problem is sometimes the makers of such films forget to make them good. A good example of this would be the latest batch of historical zombie films, because we all know it’s popular to stick zombies with cowboys right? Exit Humanity is one of the latest films to try it’s luck with this strange combination.
As the civil war is coming to an end a new enemy starts to appear, the zombies. There are plenty of dead to start an apocalypse and pretty soon the American wilderness is full of the rotting walking corpses.

Dark Horse (15)
(Todd Solondz, 2011, Us) Selma Blair, Jordan Gelber, Christopher Walken, Mia Farrow, Justin Bartha, Zachary Booth. 86 mins
Trust Todd Solondz to give us the flipside of movie man-childhood. There's nothing funny or adorable about 35-year-old Abe (Gelber), who lives with his parents, collects action figures and has no idea of his own uselessness. He meets his match (sort of) in the virtually comatose Blair, and what ensues is a romcom that's neither romantic nor comical, but beneath the misanthropy lurks some kind of compassion.
Killer Joe (18)
(William Friedkin, 2011, Us) Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple. 102 mins

Director/writer: John Geddes. Cast: Mark Gibson, Jordan Hayes, Stephen McHattie, Bill Moseley, Brian Cox, and Dee Wallace. The Civil War is over, and for Edward Young (Mark Gibson), a soldier who's survived the worst of what mankind can do to one another—to kill a fellow man—he will soon face a new terror in Exit Humanity. Viewers are being taken through his journey by flipping through the pages of a book, and this technique is a good one to establish each chapter of Young’s life. When the tale begins, six years have passed since the end of that war, and the hero has moved on to forge a new life. Sadly, he is still haunted by his wartime memories of fighting the living dead. It seems the Confederates have found a way to turn the tide, and fortunately history as we know it survived intact. But when...

Those thinking that every imaginable scenario for a zombie film had been exhausted should think again, for Exit Humanity, though an inextricably uneven feat of filmmaking, at least gets a few points for originality. Set in the late 19th century after the end of the American Civil War, it feels in many ways like the more tasteful little brother of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, sending world history on a collision course with the fantastical.
Framed by a procedural “tell us a story” layout, Brian Cox narrates from a survival tome written by protagonist Edward Young (Mark Gibson), after a zombie breakout took place in the 1860s. With his wife dead, Young goes searching for his son, but when he discovers that he too has succumbed to the infection, Young is forced to do something that will change him forever.

Dee Wallace is one of the genre's premier Scream Queens and always adds a level of grace to any project she's in. From performances in films like The Hills Have Eyes, The Howling, E.T., Cujo, and The Frighteners, Wallace has always brought a deeper level to any character she's given.
This makes her one of the elite actresses of her or any other generation.
Wallace appears in the recent independent zombie flick Exit Humanity written and directed by John Geddes, which explores the world of post-Civil War America and just how bad things could get if zombie were running amok. The iconic actress co-stars in the film alongside Bill Moseley, Mark Gibson, Stephen McHattie, Jordan Hayes and Brian Cox.

Zombies, man. They're everywhere, exterminating the human race bite by bite. It's only a matter of time before the dead outnumber the living, and judging by how badly we've already screwed up this planet, maybe they deserve a shot.

There are some ideas it's hard to see how people could possibly screw up. Take horror (as in the supernatural) in the middle of a war zone. You've got potentially limitless subtext, the nightmares soldiers and civilians go through literally brought to life, and yet John Geddes' Exit Humanity fails to wring a single minute of drama out of any of it, let alone actual scares. With a Confederate soldier Edward Young (Mark Gibson) struggling to survive as the living dead crop up in the middle of the American Civil War, his family devoured and the natural order collapsing Geddes seems to want his story to say something, but he can barely even manage 'Man is the real monster', let alone 'Oh, the humanity'. Technically...

Bloody Disgusting is pleased to announce the North American acquisition of John Geddes' post-apocalyptic Exit Humanity for DVD and VOD release as part of its Bloody Disgusting Selects film series. It portrays a young man's struggle to survive in the aftermath of an undead outbreak during the American Civil War. Heavily inspired by classic films such as Jeremiah Johnson and The Outlaw Josey Wales, Exit Humanity is a poetic tale told through the journal entries of its protagonist Edward Young. The Canadian feature blends live-action and animation to explore deeper themes of fear, hope, redemption, and evil. Starring horror icons Bill Moseley (Devils Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses), Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo), Stephen McHattie (Pontypool, The Watchmen, 300), and new horror hero Mark Gibson, Exit Humanity is a zombie saga that tells the tale of the ultimate battle of good vs. evil.

After six years, Toronto After Dark is bigger than ever. The films are better, the lines are longer and the fan-frenzy is wilder. This year’s chilling selection included: civil war zombies, creepy abductors, cliff-hanging killers, post-apocalyptic insanity and suburban hell – a sci-fi horror fan’s paradise.
Writer-director John Geddes’ Exit Humanity is a post-civil war zombie epic set in 1870’sTennessee. When his wife and son fall victim to the undead, Edward Young (Mark Gibson in a breakout performance) flees across the countryside for survival, but zombies are the least of his worries after he’s captured by a band of ruthless Confederate soldiers who are obsessed with conducting medical experiments. Geddes‘ concept of zombies in the old west is a fresh perspective on the popular genre. The film’s use of animation (a budgetary decision) advances the action excellently and the beautiful cinematography makes this a great-looking period movie.

Exit Humanity
Directed by John Geddes
2011, Canada, 114 minutes
Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that there were six hundred people in the Toronto Underground Cinema for Exit Humanity. There may have been more. It was pretty full (the theatre seats seven hundred thirty seven, according to their liquor license), and I wasn’t able to sit in the aisle seat, like I prefer—more on that later. Anyway, six hundred people sitting for a two-hour movie equals twelve hundred human hours spent (read: wasted) watching Exit Humanity. Now, to borrow (and pervert) an argument from Tony Kushner, spending that much time on a bad movie is the moral equivalent of murdering a month-and-a-half-old infant.
Sure, Exit Humanity starts with a great premise: zombie apocalypse, a handful of survivors, and the Old West. Zombies and the Us Civil War should go together like ultra-violence and Quentin Tarantino. It should work,...

Writer/Director John Geddes leads us straight into the real-life horrors of a bloody Civil War battle, immediately setting the stage for his film, Exit Humanity. The story jumps to six years later as war vet Edward Young arrives home after a hunting trip to find his son missing and his wife has been turned into a walking dead. Edward is forced to kill his wife, then sets out in search of his son in treacherous, zombie-infested woods.
Authenticity is one of the main strengths of Exit Humanity. The forest setting provides beautiful texture and the chilly, wet climate gives the solid cast of actors an honest setting to work from. Present day is beautifully tinted in dull sepia tones while the flashbacks depicting happier times with Edward and his wife and son are brighter and more colorful. The film is anchored in realism, so when the zombies enter the picture,...

In case you haven’t noticed, the horror scene in Canada is a-boomin’. Over the last year, a new re-emergence in Canuxploitation has been hitting the international markets with a fury, as seen in such films as Hobo with a Shotgun, Monster Brawl (here), Father’s Day (here), In the House of Flies, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, Pontypool, and in what might be the best of these recently released, Exit Humanity.

Break out your musket for this first trailer for Exit Humanity. This is a period piece situated in the civil war and here, unbelievably, a zombie outbreak takes place. This critic is currently looking at the history books and there is no mention of the the walking dead; however, John Geddes' latest features incorporates some imaginative sequences and some dark frames. Still, in all of this darkness, actor Bill Moseley's voice can still be heard barking orders. Have a look at the clip below, as Exit Humanity gets set to release late in 2011.

You know what most Civil War-era movies are missing? That’s right, zombies. That is a situation that “Exit Humanity”, the upcoming horror flick from John Geddes, producer of “Monster Brawl”, intends to remedy. And I have to say, according to a first trailer, it looks pretty awesome. I’m a sucker for a severed head on a stake. Gruesome effects, a grim setting that enhances the zombie action—the death saturated aftermath of one of the most brutal chapters in American history—and a top-notch cast that includes Dee Wallace (“Cujo”), Bill Mosely (“The Devil’s Rejects”), newcomer Mark Gibson, and Brian Cox as the narrator. And the cast still looks great even though Stephen McHattie (“300”) sounds like he’s channeling Foghorn Leghorn. Here’s a synopsis: How does a man deal with the loss of everything meaningful in his life, and the loss of mankind’s humanity amongst chaos and despair?...

John Geddes' Exit Humanity blends live-action and classical animation to explore how when in situations of severe horror, we must find hope through the very fears that drive us. Starring horror icons Bill Moseley (Devils Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses), Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo), Stephen McHattie (Pontypool, The Watchmen, 300), and new horror hero Mark Gibson, Exit Humanity is a zombie saga that tells the tale of the ultimate battle of good vs. evil. The official Facebook has unveiled the following trailer that's quite impressive! I think Stake Land (which has vampires over zombies) is way overrated, and this little fella looks much better... Also dig on the film's official website.

As zombie mania continues to grow we're certainly getting a lot of genre mashups which inject zombies into _______ (insert genre here). But, before you judge Canadian lensed zombies-in-the-civil-war flick, Exit Humanity, too quickly I would argue that a post civil war world should actually lend a certain level of drama and human conflict inherently needed to make the zombie genre work. So this one might just be a winner.

The trailer for Exit Humanity is here. The Canadian production directed by John Geddes stars Bill Moseley, Dee Wallace, Stephen McHattie and Mark Gibson. Brian Cox supplies some narration. The trailer transcends my expectations. When the preview appears to offer more than just "zombies applied to the Civil War," and it apparently features some animation as well. Although I do find the line of dialogue from which the title takes it's cue to be a bit much. Check it out.

Set in 1870’s Tennessee, Exit Humanity is the legend of Edward Young’s horrific and dramatic journey through an unexplainable outbreak of the walking dead to lay to rest the most important thing in his life, his son’s ashes. The bleak post-Civil War era backdrop highlights the severe divide that the United States was facing, and the true loss of hope that so many felt during this period in history.

Currently sitting in post is writer/director John Geddes' ('Scarce') new zombie project 'Exit Humanity'. It's certainly getting tougher and tougher to rejig the popular flesh-eating sub-genre that is the zombie one especially with the hordes of walking dead related projects, movies and TV shows out there at the moment. But let's hope this new flick set during the American Civil War will freshen things up. 'Exit Humanity' stars Dee Wallace, Stephen McHattie, Bill Moseley, Mark Gibson, Jordan Hayes and Adam Seybold. You can check out the new teaser poster below....
