Howdy wrestling fans, and a big thanks to Aaron Oster and James Montgomery for tending to the homestead while I was off for last week's Raw and Payback spectacles. And I have no idea why I'm aping cowboy parlance, or if that's even appropriate while recapping a show that went down in Omaha. But in the interest of corralling my thoughts, let's look toward Extreme Rules.

Former WWE Diva Kaitlyn has posed nude for Bodybulding.com’s Body Of Work Volume 4 magazine. “And for everyone that’s always wanted to see me naked…” she posted on Instagram alongside a couple of nude shots from the shoot.
Rather than being a sexy shoot, the idea is to show off her muscles and body shape. Kaitlyn is a keen fitness fanatic, with a passion for the gym and healthy eating. Bodybuilding has been one of her main focus points since leaving WWE back in 2014.
At only 29 years of age, and with that kind of body, WWE would absolutely be interested in bringing her back. She’s actually got a better look for the business now than when she was competing. As for her wrestling skills, she always demonstrated a decent level of ability, but in such a short career she never really left any legacy.

Roman Reigns had sudden emergency surgery to remove a hernia the day before Night of Champions, and is scheduled to be out of action for “several months”. When he returns, people will be expecting a few things from him: his rope-hung dropkick, a Superman Punch, and of course, a Spear. It will be as if he hadn’t missed a beat.
However, that same old, repetitive move-set can easily get stale. We’ve seen it with John Cena countless times, and some have even begun to complain that Roman Reigns is becoming repetitive. That kind of concern could kill his momentum before he even reaches the main event scene.
So what would be the solution? Simple: he needs a new finisher.
While the Spear, a.k.a. running shoulder tackle to your opponent’s gut, is indeed an effective (and rather safe) maneuver, it has become so overused...

With 2013 now receding in the rear view mirror, it’s time for the customary retrospectives to begin appearing on the shelves, and the first one out of the WWE stable is Best PPV Matches 2013, which as you might expect does exactly what it says on the tin. Well, almost.
My one minor gripe with the WWE and their annual PPV retrospectives is that they don’t cover the full calendar year. Though they’ve thoughtfully included a match from the, at time of writing, unreleased Hell in a Cell DVD/Blu-ray (due later this month, on 27th January), there’s nothing from either Survivor Series or TLC, and so the pedant in me has issues with it technically being the best of 2013 (particularly given the importance of the title unification bout between John Cena and Randy Orton at the latter). I could understand if they were rushing it out for...

WWE has announced the following departure today;
“As of Jan. 8, Kaitlyn (Celeste Bonin) will no longer be under contract with WWE. The former Divas Champion has chosen to pursue other endeavors outside the sports-entertainment world. WWE wishes Kaitlyn the best in all her future endeavors.”
Kaitlyn is due to face Aj Lee on Main Event tonight but will no longer be appearing in any future WWE shows.
Regarding her departure, it isn’t really surprising. The former Diva Champion has vanished into irrelevancy over the last six months. After being featured quite prominently in 2013 and the first half of 2014, she has struggled to find a role among the success of Aj’s title run and the Total Divas cast (of which she was not chosen to be part of, a telling sign right there) who dominate Raw TV time. Relive another historic year with The Best Pay-per-view Matches 2013, featuring over 15 of WWE’s most intense matches from its biggest events! The Rock returns to finally bring home the WWE Championship for the first time in ten years. Cm Punk tries to extinguish Undertaker’s Streak in front of over 80,000 screaming fans. Triple H attempts to tame The Beast, Brock Lesnar. John Cena battles back from injury to win the World Heavyweight Championship, and much more!
The whole idea of a annual release containing hand-picked matches from pay-per-view shows throughout the course of the previous year is a good one, providing fans who might not buy the shows or collect each DVD release a chance to see what WWE consider to be the best matches they’ve promoted within a calender year.

To begin, I will say that I have gone through many emotions as a wrestling fan in 2013, from elation to despair and everywhere in between. So is the life of wrestling fandom.
In the opening portion of 2013 we had Cm Punk as the WWE Champion, reaching the end of his lengthy reign that allowed him to announce himself as the “longest reigning WWE champion in the past 25 years”. He lost that belt, in the January, to the “returning for a tickle and a handshake” The Rock. Many fans were upset to see Punk lose so easily to the returning “great one” who had bulked up so much that the athleticism he showed throughout his full-time wrestling career had all but disappeared. The Rock then went on to have two more matches before leaving WWE again to focus on his flourishing movie career. Punk, following a failed attempt at a rematch...

Previously on: The Christmas edition of "WWE Raw" was mostly filler, though some of it was pretty entertaining. Who doesn't want to see Santa Claus fight Santa Claus?
The big news: The final "WWE Raw" of 2013 was notable for who was missing more than anything else. Nowhere to be seen were John Cena, Randy Orton, Big Show, Cody Rhodes, Goldust, The Real Americans and many more. WWE ran a non-televised show in Canada Monday night as well, meaning the roster was split down the middle.
Of course, those absences gave the talent that was on the show a bit more of the spotlight. Cm Punk opened the show with a promo against The Shield that furthered the impending end of the group. He also wrestled Seth Rollins, who decided he was the strong link in the faction. He still ended up losing, though the distraction from his buddies may be at fault.

Previously on: Randy Orton is king of the mountain as WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but Daniel Bryan is the man the people want to see. John Cena is still the star, though. Everyone else seems a bit lost in the shuffle.
The big news: There's not much of note. The holidays have arrived for WWE, giving "WWE Raw" a heavy Christmas vibe. Christmas carol singing contests, Divas wrestling in sexy Christmas costumes, and evil Santa Claus vs. good Santa Claus are the types of things you see when WWE is burning time until the new year.
The Authority kicks things off Monday (Dec. 23) by handing out candy to kids in the crowd, setting up matches for the night and letting Kane do his old fire shtick, which seems weird with Santa hats involved. They also give Orton the night off, one week after telling him he needed to be a fighting champion.

Welcome to this week’s results and review write up of WWE Raw, the flagship show of the biggest sports entertainment company in the world.
So, tonight is a special “Slammy Awards” themed Raw, with awards being given out throughout the evening in a variety of categories, including “Superstar of the Year”, “Rookie of the Year”, “Diva of the Year” and “Match of the Year”. So let’s get going shall we?
The show begins, live from Washington, with local boy, and most-over guy in WWE, Daniel Bryan, making his way to the ring to a monster pop and thousands of “yes” chants from the fans in attendance. His opponent tonight is the dancing, silk shirt wearing, former Johnny Curtis, Fandango, who is accompanied by the lovely Summer Rae. The match isn’t a long one, but allows both men to get some offence in before the inevitable victory of Bryan.

Find out how Randy managed to take down The Big Show, then get all the results from one of the WWE’s biggest nights!
WWE Champion Randy Orton had the cards stacked against him when he faced The Big Show on Nov. 24 during the title match of WWE Survivor Series. As the organization’s official site points out, Randy has relied heavily on the interference of outside forces to retain his title, but Triple H made it clear that all Survivor Series face-offs would be strictly one-on-one. So how did the Viper manage to slither his way to victory?
Despite Triple H being adamant about no one interfering in the match, that’s exactly how Randy ended up winning! The Big Show was clearly going to steal the title from Randy — until Triple H, Kane and Stephanie McMahon showed up to distract the world’s largest athlete. Without physically intervening,...

Will there actually be a WWE Champion decided this time? The Championship title has been vacant since the day after "Night of Champions," and now Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton are finally settling their feud once and for all inside the Hell in a Cell cage. To make sure the bout turns out extra interesting, Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels will be the special guest referee.
The show is also notable for the return of John Cena, who has been out with injury since losing the WWE Championship to Bryan at "SummerSlam." Cena is back to face Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship.

One of the most anticipated nights on the WWE Calendar, Money In The Bank. A chance for a Superstar to win a briefcase containing a contract granting them a championship match anytime & anywhere they want. With nearly a 100% record when it comes to those who have won the briefcase becoming champion, this event will very much shape the course of the WWE for the future.
Money in the Bank is a great concept for a pay per view and one of the year’s numerous events that I, and many wrestling fans, look forward to. There are two ladder matches featuring an array of performers, and they must climb the ladder, grab a briefcase and gain a championship shot at any time they choose. This allows a variety of superstars to get a push into the main event picture where they might not have previously been.

WWE and 2K Games have finally made the long-awaited roster announcement for their upcoming WWE 2K14 video game, boasting a surprisingly beefy line-up of over 80 superstars. In addition to the 30 Years of WrestleMania roster already announced, we were given a full list of the WWE Superstars and Divas who would be filling out 2K Games’ first time publishing a wrestling game (albeit still with the same developers as before, Yukes).
It’s safe to say that, as in every year, there are a few notable omissions from the roster – Curtis Axel, Rob Van Dam, Big E. Langston, The Usos, Fandango, and the Wyatt Family are conspicuously absent, while the likes of David Otunga somehow make the cut… – yet we can keep our fingers crossed that they might show up in Dlc somewhere down the line (though developers have already stated on Twitter that the Wyatts will 100% not be Dlc, because...

Last week, we saw a new corporate culture emerge on the WWE’s flagship broadcast Monday Night Raw. This new regime of the COO and the McMahons made clear their new chosen son, Randy Orton, and their opinion on the People’s champion Daniel Bryan. Triple H gave the reasoning for the boardroom takeover of the WWE title as it being better for business. Is it really? That question became more pronounced on this weeks edition from Phoenix, Arizona.
The show begins with Triple H coming out recapping the last week of WWE surprisingly glossing over Smackdown. He says that he had no problem with Daniel Bryan until he insulted his wife last week. Now it’s personal. Triple H gloats by saying, Randy Orton has been good for business. He says ratings are up, social media buzz is at an all-time high and business is booming. He then brings out the champion.

WWE reinvigorates its pay-per-view line up with a fresh new concept that will answer the question, how far will the Superstars of WWE go for payback? And with all the major championships on the line including the revamped WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship, Payback looked set to be one hell of a pay per view. But was it? Just six days from the biggest party of the summer in La, WWE rolled into the Golden State capital of Sacramento for Raw. Was it a California dream of a go home show? Or a party pooper as we head into Staples Center this Sunday? Well, let’s break it down and I’ll give my thoughts.
The night begins with Daniel Bryan making his way to the ring to compete in a rematch with Wade Barrett. Daniel Bryan, with rally towel in hand (somewhere the former Ricky Ortiz is complaining of gimmick infringement) and wearing The Beard Is Here shirt as it is announced that Brad Maddox is the special guest referee. There wasn’t much to this match as the story was Maddox does a quick three count giving Barrett a victory. Bryan attempts to go after Maddox, but the Raw General Manager quickly exits the ring heading up the ramp.

Just a few weeks away from SummerSlam, WWE entered the Title Town of Green Bay, Wisconsin for this week’s Monday Night Raw. It was kind of fitting because the WWE Title was definitely the focus of this episode. As their encounter in Los Angeles gets closer Daniel Bryan and John Cena couldn’t get farther apart. The same can be said for the McMahon family themselves as the turmoil between Hunter, Stephanie and Vince finally seems to be boiling over. But will it lead to something we all want to see? Or will it bring serious venom and vitriol in the WWE universe?
The show begins at Stephanie McMahon recaps the last few weeks of strife between her husband and her father saying she found a compromise. The Vice President of Creative then says that Daniel Bryan agreed to the corporate makeover discussed last week. She shows a video...

After last week’s stellar performance, it seemed WWE was starting to get what was behind the bearded wonder also known as Daniel Bryan. Bryan continues to be one of the most popular superstars of the modern era of the WWE. The “Yes” chant has transcended the world of sports entertainment into popular culture reaching into other venues. T-shirts and other merchandise seems to have permeated through the crowd at WWE events. And his talent and skill go unmatched by few on the roster. The question is why do they want to put him in the mold of a PG Steve Austin? I guess I better start at the beginning.
The show begins with Brad Maddox coming out along with the Chairman. Maddox apologizes for his stupid decision of letting John Cena decide his own opponent for SummerSlam. Vince goes into the reasons why Daniel Bryan should not be WWE Champion.

After a very physical Money in the Bank pay-per-view from Philadelphia, Raw had a lot of intrigue going into this week. What would be the next step in the Paul Heyman-Cm Punk storyline? Would Aj and Dolph’s relationship survive last night’s miscommunication? Would we see the Wyatt family again? What’s next for the Money in the Bank winners? All those questions and more were answered this past Monday from Brooklyn.
The show literally started with a drum roll as the Brad Maddox era of Raw kicked off. The opening segment with Maddox and John Cena was the worst of the night by far. Maddox awkward delivery mixed with Cena and his over-the-top cheesiness did not land well for me. Add that to the fact, Maddox makes the overarching storyline of the night the fact that John Cena can pick his own SummerSlam opponent.

Well it’s Wednesday morning, 3:40 Am Eastern time as I write this and I feel like talking about wrestling. Let’s talk with Monday’s Raw from WWE and possibilities for Money in the Bank.
WWE Raw overall was a lot stronger from the week prior. Action was solid and segments mattered once again. You knew the biggest story of the night was not the performance review of Vickie Guerrero, but the debut of the Wyatt family. I loved the Deliverance vignettes and mixture of live and taped segments. It really made things standout and made them feel different . I find it interesting that they went after Kane and took him out. I wonder what that means for Sunday and if Wyatt will make the Money in the Bank match thanks to new management.
Speaking of new management, the performance review of Vickie Guerrero was probably one of the worst segments of the show.

Over the last few weeks, Raw has been very entertaining to say the least. With the rise of Daniel Bryan, the disintegration of the Punk- Heyman relationship and Kaitlyn and Aj battling it out, the show has felt more vibrant. However, even with all those elements still in play the show felt a little lackluster then in previous weeks.
The show begins not with a recap of last week as has been customary for the last few months, but with a cold open with Vickie Guerrero. The managing supervisor announces the champion versus champion main event with Alberto del Rio and John Cena.
This would lead to a showcase of great WWE and World Champions of their perspective eras. I like the pomp and circumstance of it all, but I think more often than not, regardless of how you hype the match it just doesn’t matter like used to.

Another post-Wrestlemania PPV, another knockout. Cena vs. Ryback at Payback, as was expected, consisted of yet more brutality culminating in another ludicrous ending: an ambulance roof ‘collapse’ that saw Ryback miss out on this week’s Raw entirely in order to ‘sell’ his loss. The highlight of the show, though, was undoubtedly Punk vs. Jericho in a definite contender for Match of the Year.
Del Rio regaining his Championship from Ziggler was the one thing I hadn’t envisioned, nor did I expect him to linger around afterward with a promo prolonged enough to draw impatient heel heat. He did the same thing to open Raw, spouting the same generic heel rubbish about ‘not getting enough respect’ and receiving a different sort of heat from the crowd: apathy. The best cure for apathy is a popular face appearance, so Punk showed up right on cue to disagree with Del Rio and – surprise,...

Last night’s Raw had quite the task to live up to after the excellent Payback pay-per-view in Chicago. With great matches and subtle storyline moments would the WWE deliver a good episode of Raw in Grand Rapids, Michigan? I believe for the most part that happened except for a few minor annoyances in my opinion.
The show began with the very over the top Alberto del Rio mugging to the fans with a chorus of boos echoing the arena much like the night before. Del Rio gets more and more agitated. Alberto justifies his reasoning for attacking Dolph’s head during the match needs back to when Ziggler won the title. Adr feels completely justified the fact that Dolph caught him when he was injured. I like this because it makes sense. Alberto continues to say that the fans turned their backs on him when he’s done everything...

Raw this week emanated from Hartford, Connecticut just a few weeks away from the Payback pay-per-view Chicago. Payback definitely seem to be the word of the night. As scheduled for a rematch was Triple H versus Curtis Axel following the events of a few weeks ago. However, it soon became a family affair with the reappearance of the one and only Billion-Dollar Princess Stephanie McMahon and daddy dearest Vince McMahon.
The opening segment this week involves Stephanie and Vince pleading with the fans to agree with their decision that Triple H would not compete against Curtis Axel. Even at one point saying, that The Game was beneath Axel and should not risk his health for someone on his level. I know what they’re going for making Triple H a Rocky like figure competing against the odds. But it just didn’t work well. WWE has set such a superhuman precedent with John Cena,...

Monday Night Raw definitely gave us a lot more to be appreciative for this week. I’m not just talking about the fact that it was Bret Hart appreciation night in Calgary or the fact that it was Memorial Day in the Us. There was some great action, solid booking and great cameos during the night as well. The show began with the first of many touching tributes to the men and women of the Us military. Before I begin talking about the wacky world of professional wrestling, I just want to say thank you to all who serve, protect our freedoms here domestically or abroad. Your sacrifice will always be remembered in my heart.

After the announcement of John Cena’s injury from the European tour, there was a lot of speculation on what the WWE would do going into Monday. And what did we get exactly? Honestly, one of the weirdest episodes of Raw in recent memory.
I don’t know if it was the exhaustion from the flight over the Atlantic, but everything felt really haphazard. No more evident than with our opening match a triple threat match with Big E Langston versus Zeb Colter and Ricardo Rodriguez (rocking the Zubaz). The winner got to pick the stipulation for the triple threat match at Extreme Rules. It was what it was in the end, Ricardo picking up the victory, rolling up Colter for the win. I love the fact that halfway through the match everybody realize that it was no disqualification. It was one of those moments that left me scratching my head.

When the WWE travels across the pond, you are often not sure what you’re going to get. Between the jet lag of the performers and the grueling schedule of the whole caravan of events. It can really be a mixed bag at times. But at least in my opinion that was not the case for this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.
Much like a few weeks ago, the crowd plays a large part in that. The enthusiastic crowd in the 02 Arena kept the energy up with certain chants, which unlike New Jersey a few weeks ago wasn’t as distracting and disrespectful in some aspects. As they were trying to be the whole show they were just trying to enhancing the experience they were having which is when a crowd should do.
But it wasn’t like they didn’t have enough to cheer for as WWE...

If there’s one message to take away from this week’s Monday Night Raw from Greenville, South Carolina it would be expect the unexpected. From quick upset wins over champions to out of nowhere attacks on certain superstars, it seemed like WWE was really trying to get people talking. But did it work? Let’s talk about it.
The show began with a handicap match featuring Sheamus and Randy Orton getting revenge once again on The Big Show. This time Randy and Sheamus are able to use their teamwork to easily dispatch the giant superstar with a Brogue Kick/Rko Combo clean for the win. After this, I wasn’t sure what was left in this feud since they just got the victory. Well, my questions were answered later on in the night as with a second attack on Sheamus Mark Henry has now been added to the mix...

WWE definitely had its campaign hat on as Monday Night Raw came from the Beltway and Washington, DC as the company tried the hard sell on why you should buy Wrestlemania this Sunday on pay-per-view. This episode much like the politicians that reside there was all talk and no action. But was it good old-fashioned rhetoric or just a filibuster? I’ve already cast my vote… Let’s see what you think.
The show opened up with John Cena giving his final speech and into MetLife Stadium and how he will overcome his past failure and take that symbol created by The Rock (his words not mine fans of Cm Punk). A lot of this for standard Cena saying the same things we have heard week after week on how he has to beat The Rock to prove to himself that he can do it. That is better than The Rock.

Going into this week’s Nxt with the tagline of “Road to Wrestlemania edition” you are never really certain what you’re going to get. However, you might be pleasantly surprised as we received solid action even know there were no developmental stars… Well except for one to be found.
First of all, and they gave the episode a different feel with having not only one Hall of Famer in attendance, but two as Jim Ross and the always incomparable Howard Finkel join the broadcast and raised the level of the show just by being there. Along with Regal and Todd Phillips it was a welcome addition to the week to week monotony.
The night began with strong action as a divas title match between Kaitlyn and Natalya showed why ladies wrestling works so well as they brought aggression and intensity usually reserved for the men. It’s a shame...

Less than two weeks out from Wrestlemania 29, WWE had to pull a lot of rabbits out of their hats to make anyone care about the biggest show of the year. Hell, for the longest time it didn’t seem like anyone in the company really cared about the show and they were just coasting on the brand name of Wrestlemania going right into MetLife Stadium on April 7. Well, in my opinion that all changed last night on Raw.
I know it’s cliché every time wrestling emanates from the city of brotherly love Philadelphia to pull out Ecw reference some not going to do that say it was extreme. But it was definitely way more aggressive than we’ve seen in recent weeks. As competitors showed more fire and intensity than we’ve seen in WWE for some time.

In the aftermath of the Royal Rumble, we are officially on the Road to Wrestlemania. This is the time of year where all of the storylines from the past year reach their finale. It’s also the time of the year when at least 14 minutes of every broadcast must involve someone (or multiple someone’s) pointing and staring longingly at the Wrestlemania sign. Sidenote: This year’s Wrestlemania sign doesn’t feature the traditional Roman numeral layout of past signs, which much be confusing to people who are trying to figure out exactly what number “NY/NJ” is.

There has been mixed reactions in regards to the total lack of guest appearances on Raw considering this was the 20th Anniversary and I am most definitely of the persuasion that this was the correct way to go about it. With only 2 weeks to go until the Rumble, there was some real need to get some of the key feuds moved forward. It was just a massive shame that creative didn’t get the memo!
Opening Highlight Video
Raw opened with quite a funky mash up of all the Raw intro vids over the years which came across quite nicely. The editing wasn’t superb but I liked it. Simple and effective from the guys in the truck and would be the first of many compilation videos, each serving a purpose to re-live some of the moments from Raw’s past. Again, this was the correct way to go about it.

Tonight, WWE Raw celebrates 20 years on TV and gives the WWE a chance to give some old faces and fan favourites some time to come back and remind everyone that they used to be relevant. It’s such a shame that they are not relevant anymore and take away time that could be used on talent who are most definitely relevant. The rumour is though that WWE management have cancelled many of the old faces due to appear to focus more on what they should be focused on, advancing feuds to sell Pay Per Views and considering we are quickly moving towards the Royal Rumble, this is absolutely key!
Too often lately creative have taken the easy way out of writing a full show by having these “legends” appear so they can take a break and not write something that people will care about. I only hope tonight’s Raw...
