It’s been a little over a year since San Francisco resident Yigit Pura won the first season of Bravo reality competition series, Top Chef: Just Desserts and was also voted fan favorite by the viewers. Since that television exposure Pura has been wearing many hats. While holding down his day job as Executive Pastry Chef with Taste Catering & Event Planning, he also signed on as a Bravo website blogger when the second season of Just Desserts aired in late summer. Plus, he appeared regularly at Lgbt-related benefits and fundraisers, and he's starred in a series of Cooking Channel videos with fellow gay pastry chef Zac Young.
Now, thankfully for us, he is shedding his shirt and being doused in rainbow sprinkles for a 2012 calendar benefiting Meals On Wheels.
To talk about the calendar and to see if there’s more television in his future, Pura put the oven on...

The Bataan Death March … With Chocolate
Another Television Critics Association Summer Tour is over and this was probably the most memorable one I’ve ever done, for a whole host of reasons.
Another critic once described the press tour (which usually lasts for two solid weeks with no breaks at all) as the Bataan Death March With Cocktails. Since I’m not much of a drinker that isn’t true for me. Instead, for me it’s a death march with chocolate since the cable and broadcast networks were constantly tempting us with all kinds of chocolates, from marshmallows covered with dark chocolate to chocolate covered strawberries to all kinds of fancy fou-fou chocolate desserts.
ABC even sent a box of amazing chocolate chip cookies to my room where they begged me to eat them! Talk about evil.
As I said, this TCA was very memorable. The day I arrived in Los Angeles,...

One of the great things about the AfterElton.com Hot 100 every year is getting the personal picks of out celebrities. it's fascinating seeing who they choose as the hottest guys on the planet, and comparing it with our own lists.
We've already seen the the top ten lists from Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita, and now it's Yigit Pura's turn!

It was a huge week for Top Chef: Just Desserts cheftestant Yigit Pura. He won the debut season of the cooking competition (and also won fan favorite), blessed us with an interview, and now the cherry on top of it all ...
He's your Gay of the Week!
It was an excruciatingly close battle, with Yigit trading the lead with Blaine and Kurt from Glee numerous times. In the end only 25 votes separated them, and there's no recount allowed for this election!
90210's Teddy offered surprisingly close competition, while Modern Family's Mitchell was an also-ran.
Congrats to Yigit!

Every week we're going to pick the gays we think have made the biggest splash in television and leave it to you, the keepers of the flame, to decide who will be crowned Gay of the Week. We'll announce the winner the following Monday, and that champ will reign until a new set of challengers are introduced the following week to try to steal the title.
Teddy Montgomery, 90210
He might only be showing up every other episode, but every time he does appear, poor Teddy breaks our hearts as he works toward inching out of the closet. This week not only saw Teddy make his first visit to a gay bar, but also had him opening up to Ian both about his past and what he's feeling now.
And the next episode promises even more!

For those of us living here in the U.S., next week is our Thanksgiving holiday where we give thanks for living in a country riven by political strife, sky high unemployment and the sense that everything has completely gone off the rails.
Or something like that.
Fortunately, here at AfterElton.com, we get to concern ourselves with pop culture things of a more lighthearted nature, so here are my Ten Things From 2010 for Which I Am Most Grateful! Note, this isn't meant to be the most important or the best, but are just a few things that stood out for me.

From the very first episode of Bravo's Top Chef: Just Desserts, 29-year-old Yigit Pura was a man to watch. Some watched for his dazzling talents in the kitchen which included combining elaborate flavors in unique combinations that wowed the judges along with chocolate working and spun sugar skills that were the envy of his competitors.

And some watched because the frequently shirtless Pura was clearly the show's breakout sex symbol.
But even though Pura was an early favorite to take the title, his win in the finale — the first time an out gay man has won a Top Chef competition — was hardly a sure thing. During the season, Pura was frequently his own worst enemy as he often tried to do too many things in too little time. On Wednesday, November 17 finale, three pastry chefs competed for the title of the first "Top Chef: Just Desserts" winner. After much tasting, observations and consideration, the judges thought that Yigit Pura, a 29-year-old Turkish-born chef from San Francisco, deserves the crown.
Pura along with Morgan Wilson and Danielle Keene were challenged to a four-course tasting menu and they were paired up with former contestants to feed 17 people. Yigit employed the concept of dating and romance, naming his courses "Gimlet", "Kisses in the Park", "Passion" and "Love".
The first one is a cucumber line sorbet with yogurt caviar, the second is strawberry sorbet with lime ice cream topped with lemongrass and ginger, the third is braised pineapple with coconut spongecake and coconut lime soup while the last one is hazelnut dacquese with milk chocolate, milk jam and salted caramel ice cream.

Candy is dandy, but to the victor goes the liquor. Champagne corks popped for one of the three perservering pastry chefs who made it to the finale of Top Chefs: Just Desserts, a well-deserved win after creating a four-course tasting menu that both dazzled the judges and left their teeth in need of a good brushing. After a couple of dramatic meltdowns and many spirited bitchfests, it was down to the cool and contained Morgan Wilson, exacting visionary Yigit Pura and perky underdog Danielle Keene for all the spoils. Forget the judges - on Wednesday night, two pastry chefs ejected themselves from the competition on Top Chef: Just Desserts. So far, the show has proven one thing: Pastry chefs are hypersensitive, emotional and needy. Only four episodes have aired, but who can remember any previous Top Chef season with so many tears and self-doubts on display? For weeks now, Seth Caro has shown himself to be a volatile presence in the kitchen. He's broken down in tears over a grapefruit shortage, fallen to pieces when a sorbet hasn't frozen and, frankly, hasn't seemed like the healthiest competitor. On Wednesday,...

Goodness, who knew pastry chefs were such drama queens?
Honestly, I was so Top Cheffed out from the past several lackluster seasons, I had no interest in even watching a Just Desserts spin-off, much less recapping it. But then there was all the drama – the hissy-fits! the sobbing! the bitchiness! – and just like that, I was sucked in.
Plus the gays! Sooooo many gays, the likes of which typically grace Project Runway. Or The Bachelorette. But so rarely on Top Chef.
Let’s meet the gays – we’ll call them Team Creampuff -- with a quick recap of the first impressions they made last week ...
Yigit. Every so often, the planets align and the TV gods gift us with someone who is utterly adorable and, miraculously, doesn’t seem like a total asshat. Top Chef: Just Desserts has given us such a person in Yigit.
