The much-awaited return of the ghost detectives on the silver screen is finally available on Netflix, and the fans seem to love it. Based on the DC Comics characters of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, the Netflix series is created by Steve Yockey and it follows the story of two ghost detectives who decide not to ascent to their afterlives to stay on Earth and investigate the crimes involving the supernatural. Dead Boy Detectives exists in the same universe as Netflix’s hit DC fantasy drama series The Sandman, and while it is different from The Sandman in its story and visuals, the Dead Boy Detectives seem to be connecting with the fans. So, if you loved the charm and supernatural shenanigans in Dead Boy Detectives here are some similar shows you should check out next.

The Last of Us actor Bella Ramsey is going from fighting infected to kicking cancer’s ass for the coming-of-age comedy Sunny Dancer. They’re leading the cast of George Jaques’s sophomore feature alongside Ruby Stokes and Louis Patridge. The film, which heads to the Cannes market in May, is one of the event’s most talked about projects.
According to Variety‘s exclusive report,Sunny Dancer follows Ivy (Ramsey), a teenager in remission from cancer. Her spitfire mum and well-intentioned dad insist she attends Children Run Free Camp, a summer retreat for young adults affected by cancer. Ivy scoffs at the camp’s slogan, “Where kids come to kid,” and is more unsettled when a Google search reveals the camp’s cringe-worthy messaging and plastic promotion of smiles and picturesque sunsets. Horrified by what she’s found, Ivy dreads going to what she refers to as “chemo camp.

Bridgerton season three is almost upon us (part one lands on Netflix on May 16) and the first full trailer has arrived to prove it.
Sensibly skipping book three in Julia Quinn’s frothy Regency-set series and getting straight to the Penelope and Colin of the matter, the third season is all about Pen’s search for a husband. Desperate to break out of the Featherington home and frustrated by her failure to attract attention from the ton, Penelope enlists the services of childhood pal Colin Bridgerton. With Colin’s tuition, a suitable beau can’t be far away. In fact, one might just be very close indeed…
Before we come to all the blue-eyes-bandaged-hand stuff though, some viewers have a question. Who, in the name of the gloriously bewigged Queen Charlotte, is the new face being presented at court by Lady Violet Bridgerton at 0:16?
That right there is Francesca Bridgerton,...

Jenna Coleman had “avoided” playing a detective – until she was approached about playing rookie cop Ember Manning in a scenic lake town in Lancashire in North West England in BBC Studios’ The Jetty from creator and writer Cat Jones and Firebird Pictures.
“What appealed to me was that the character of Ember was completely there on page one,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Also, it’s a crime thriller, but it’s wrapped up in such a human, emotive, and poetic piece. It is crafted so it has all of the great things of a crime thriller – turning the page and having all of the beats. But it’s also such a feminine piece that really explores relationships and provokes. It has all sorts of blurred boundaries and is asking a lot of uncomfortable questions without fully answering them.”

The BBC has revealed a first-look image of Jenna Coleman as rookie detective Ember Manning in The Jetty, a detective thriller from creator and writer Cat Jones and Firebird Pictures set to debut later this year in the U.K.
In the thriller, Coleman, best known for playing the timelord’s trusted sidekick Clara Oswald in Doctor Who, investigates the link between a fire at a peaceful lakeside holiday home, a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit love triangle between a man in his twenties and two underage girls.
As she gets closer to the truth, the case forces the detective to “re-evaluate her past, present and the town she has always called home.” The logline reads, “As much a coming-of-age story as a detective thriller, The Jetty asks big questions about sexual morality, identity and memory, in the places that #MeToo has left behind.

Another one bites the dust as Netflix has canceled the supernatural series "Lockwood and Co." after just one season. This cancelation may come as a bit of a surprise, given that the show, which is adapted from Jonathan Stroud's popular series of books, was critically well-liked and seemingly found its audience. Be that as it may, we will not be getting more episodes.
According to Variety, Netflix opted not to renew the series, which debuted in early 2023. It featured a cast led by Ruby Stokes ("Bridgerton"), as well as relative newcomers like Cameron Chapman and Ali Hadji-Heshmati. Taking to Instagram, Stroud addressed the cancelation with an air of gratitude, saying the following:
"I'd like to thank everybody who worked so hard to create something so special. It has been a joy working with Joe, Rachael, Nira, Brad and all my other friends at Complete Fiction. They made a show...

Lockwood & Co. is Netflix‘s latest hit, thanks to its excellent storytelling and cast. Although the ghosts in the Lockwood & Co. universe are similar to rats, the difference between them and common rats is that rats don’t necessarily lead to people’s deaths. The ghosts in the series can kill...

Ruby Stokes made the move from Bridgerton to Lockwood & Co. and is now opening up about what she misses the most from the Netflix period drama.
“The thing I miss the most about that show is the people. The people are just unmatched,” she told 1883 magazine in an interview. “They are incredible, generous, kind, hilarious and genuine. They’re great. They are just really, really good people, both the crew and the cast.”
Stokes played the role of Francesca Bridgerton in the television adaptation of the Julia Quinn book series. She is now the lead star of Lockwood & Co. where she plays Lucy Carlyle and Stokes is now comparing what similarities both roles share.

The British show takes place 50 years after the start of “The Problem,” a sudden rise in deaths caused by ghosts. As a result, several agencies were formed to employ teenagers with special abilities to fight off the apparitions. But are the stars actually teens? Here’s a rundown of the cast members’ ages and how they compare to the Lockwood & Co. characters.
Ali Hadji-Heshmati as George, Cameron Chapman as Anthony Lockwood, and Ruby Stokes as Lucy in ‘Lockwood & Co.’ | Netflix How old is Lockwood in ‘Lockwood & Co.’?
Cameron Chapman plays Anthony Lockwood, the leader of a small agency in London known as Lockwood & Co. Unlike other agencies, Lockwood & Co. does not have an adult supervisor, so Lockwood’s company is not always taken seriously.

What do we mean when we talk about Young Adult fiction? Utter the term YA, and you will most likely picture something resembling Lockwood & Co. Netflix’s newest No 1 series has all the hallmarks of a YA smash. A mixed-gender group of teenage protagonists. A healthy dollop of the supernatural. A shelf-load of lore. Adapted from novels by Jonathan Stroud and created by Attack the Block’s Joe Cornish, the series follows a trio of juvenile ghost-hunters, played by Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman and Ali Hadji-Heshmati. It’s a CGI-laden fantasy melodrama, big on quips, and even bigger on action. And yet, Lockwood & Co also follows another of Netflix’s time-tested YA rules: it’s not actually very good.
Look back through the past five years of original programming, and you’ll see that the YA market is a well that Netflix has returned to many times. But the results have been mixed,...

The creator of Lockwood and Co has given Netflix the perfect reason to renew the series.
Since its release last month, the show has become a sleeper hti for the streaming service, which would typically make a season two renewal a certainty.
However in recent years Netflix has made a habit of cancelling shows despite them being at the top of the service’s most-watched charts, leading to widespread criticism.
Lockwood and Co fans enjoying the series are urging the service not to cancel the show – and Attack the Block director Cornish himself has explained why that would be a disappointing decision.
Firstly, season one covers the first two books in Jonathan Stroud’s books series: The Screaming Staircase and The Whispering Skull.
Speaking to Empire in the new issue, Cornish confirms that the initial run of Lockwood & Co covers the first two books in Stroud’s five-book series.
