‘Celebrity Race Across The World’ Renewed For Season 2 At BBC
Celebrity Race Across the World has landed a second season on the BBC. The format from Traitors maker Studio Lambert sees pairings featuring one celebrity and a parent, sibling or friend set a challenge to head on an epic adventure on a limited budget. In Season 1, which the BBC said is its “biggest factual entertainment brand of the year to date,” the likes of McFly drummer Harry Judd and broadcaster Alex Beresford were set the task of racing from Africa to the Arctic. Season 2’s route will be revealed in due course. The non-celebrity version has run for three seasons and has also been a big hit for the BBC. Factual entertainment boss Catherine Catton said she had been “delighted with the reaction particularly from young audiences” to Season 1 of the celebrity run. The news comes just a few days...

Dan Walker has branded Piers Morgan “bitter” and a “numptie” after the TalkTV presenter accused him of “milking” his recent bike crash.
In February, former BBC Breakfast host Walker shared a picture of his bloodied face to Instagram, explaining that he’d been hit by a car.
On Wednesday (1 March), Walker made his first public appearance since the accident at the Rts Television Journalism Awards, where he joked he was “up to my eyeballs” on painkillers.
He then proceeded to make a dig at Morgan – his long-standing rival – over his 2021 departure from Good Morning Britain.
Morgan didn’t take kindly to the comments, tweeting on Thursday (2 March): “If I were Dan Walker, and I’d been kicked off Match of the Day & BBC Breakfast, then washed up on Channel 5 daytime, and only got press these days by falling off a bike, getting a few grazes, and milking it...

Piers Morgan has commented on Jeremy Clarkson’s controversial rant about Meghan Markle in a national newspaper.
In an op-ed for The Sun, published 16 December, Clarkson wrote that he loathes the Duchess of Sussex “on a cellular level” and wants people to “throw lumps of excrement” at her.
The article has since been removed from the publication’s website after the column became the Independent Press Standards Organisation’s most complained about article.
Clarkson himself has received considerable backlash, with a number of celebrities and public figures condemning his remarks.
Morgan – an outspoken critic of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – reacted to Clarkson’s column on Twitter, writing: “Imagine if all those screaming with rage about Jeremy Clarkson felt the same protective anger towards those who’ve branded our Royal Family callous lying racist bullies - without producing any actual evidence for these cruel allegations?”

Piers Morgan has once again lashed out at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in his latest newspaper column in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
The TalkTV presenter has perhaps been Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s most outspoken critic, famously walking off Good Morning Britain in the aftermath of Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021.
Morgan titled his article for the New York Post: “Harry, if you really want to honour your dad, nix your salacious tell-all and rein in your royals-trashing wife.”
In the article, Morgan writes that Harry has spent the past “two years publicly dishonouring his father” and that “someone very close to Charles” told him that the new King of England was “deeply hurt and utterly bemused” by his son’s actions.
The former News of the World editor took particular issue with the prince’s forthcoming memoir, which is due to hit shelves this year.

Tributes are pouring in for Bill Turnbull after it was announced that the veteran broadcaster had died from prostate cancer on Wednesday (31 August).
The former BBC Breakfast presenter’s family confirmed on Thursday (1 September) that Turnbull had “passed away peacefully at his home” after being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017.
Piers Morgan honoured Turnbull as “one of the best broadcasters in Britain” in a tribute posted on Twitter.
His tweet read: “Rip Bill Turnbull, 66. One of the best broadcasters in Britain, and such a smart, funny, warm & generous-spirited man.
“Fought his illness with typical stoicism, courage and humour. Bill made presenting live TV look so effortless, which was his great talent. Such sad news.”
Turnbull was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017, and had taken a leave of absence from his radio show Classic FM to focus on his health in October last year. However, he returned to the show last month.

Piers Morgan is being called out for hypocrisy over comments he made about boxer Anthony Joshua.
On Saturday (20 August), Joshua was defeated by Oleksandr Usyk in their world heavyweight title rematch in Saudi Arabia. After, he stormed out of the ring before returning to deliver a “bizarre” speech.
The world of sport and entertainment have been commenting on Joshua’s post-match behaviour.
Morgan wrote on Twitter after the match had ended: “Embarrassing antics at the end by Joshua. He was beaten by a superior fighter who put on a magnificent performance of highly-skilled, supremely resilient boxing.”
However, many are pointing out that Morgan did something similar in March 2021.

Following an investigation, a U.K. media regulator has decided not to take action against Piers Morgan for his negative on-air comments about Meghan Markle. In March, while co-hosting ITV's Good Morning Britain, Morgan criticized the Duchess of Sussex over her and Prince Harry's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, saying he did not believe her remarks, which included a shocking reveal that she'd had suicidal thoughts as a working royal and was allegedly denied help. The journalist, a longtime critic of Meghan's, got into an on-air argument with weather presenter Alex Beresford over his comments, walked off the set and subsequently left his job. Meanwhile,...

ITV have issued a statement on Ofcom’s ruling:
“We welcome the Ofcom ruling that ‘Good Morning Britain’ did not breach the broadcast standards relating to harm and offence. The ruling sets out clearly that it was the balance and context the programme makers provided which was key in mitigating against the potential for harm and offence which could have been caused by Piers Morgan’s comments. It is because of the programme’s editorial decisions and the opposing views which were forcefully expressed by other presenters and guests, that the programme did not breach Ofcom’s rules.”
Although Morgan has publicly enquired whether he will be getting his “Gmb” hosting job back, sources say there are no plans to reinstate the controversial presenter. However, he will continue to host ITV show “Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.”

Piers Morgan, in his first interview since quitting ITV’s Good Morning Britain, reiterated his dismissal of claims that Meghan Markle made in her sitdown with Oprah Winfrey last month.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson for his Fox Nation show Tucker Carlson Today, Morgan said that he still doesn’t “believe what they were saying, and in particular I don’t believe what Meghan Markle said. 17 different claims by the pair of them have now been proven to be either completely untrue, or massively exaggerated or unprovable.”
“I didn’t believe Meghan Markle, a huge furor erupted through the day, I was an outrage, I wasn’t allowed to have an opinion that I didn’t believe what she was saying even though it was clear to me in real time as I was watching the interview that there were a number of things which just couldn’t be true.

Piers Morgan isn’t exactly saddened over his departure from “Good Morning Britain.” In fact, the TV personality is reveling in all the newfound attention.
Over the weekend, he told the New York Times’ Ben Smith, “I’ve got the whole world talking about me in varying degrees of either praise or shame.”
Smith noted that the television host made that statement “with satisfaction.”
Last week, Morgan hurried off the set of the British morning show after he was called out by co-host Alex Beresford for his criticism of Meghan Markle’s comments about racism and suicidal thoughts in her blockbuster interview with Oprah Winfrey. Subsequently, ITV announced they had parted ways.
Morgan wasn’t deterred by the negative reaction from the public or his co-host after he took aim at the Duchess of Sussex. In fact, he doubled down.

The fallout from the Oprah Winfrey interview with Megan Markle and Prince Harry continues today, as opinions raged on both sides of the pro-Sussex and anti-Sussex aisle.

Britain’s breakfast foghorn Piers Morgan is out of a job. It all happened in a matter of hours, as the former CNN presenter bent a global news story about Meghan Markle firmly in his direction with incendiary comments about the Duchess of Sussex’s mental health. We’ve spoken to sources familiar with the breakneck events to see how they unfolded.
As dawn broke on the UK on Monday — just hours after Markle and her husband Prince Harry gave a brutally frank interview to Oprah Winfrey on CBS — Morgan went on a rage-fuelled rampage. Using ITV’s flagship morning show Good Morning Britain as his platform, Morgan lit a fire under a long-standing grudge with Markle. They were once acquaintances who shared drinks in a London pub, but Morgan is bitter after she “ghosted” him when she joined the royal family.

Meghan Markle is believed to have filed a formal complaint to ITV over former “Good Morning Britain” presenter Piers Morgan’s comments about her suicide revelations.
Variety understands that Markle wrote to CEO Carolyn McCall on Monday, raising concerns over how Morgan’s words would affect the mental health dialogue in the U.K. and may even impact someone contemplating suicide.
The issue of mental health is paramount for ITV, which needs to be seen as taking the matter seriously following a spate of suicides linked to its hit show “Love Island,” including that of popular host Caroline Flack a year ago.
Both ITV and Markle’s representatives declined to comment on the matter.

London, March 10: British television personality Piers Morgan exited the Good Morning Britain TV show following a confrontation with colleague Alex Beresford, owing to Morgan's comments about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.
"Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave ‘Good Morning Britain'. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add," the network said in a statement, as quoted by People magazine.
Morgan had said that he did not believe "a word" said by the former royal couple during the 90-minute interview, and said that it was "contemptible".
Morgan's comments led to the British media regulator Ofcom launching an investigation, after over 41,000 people filed written complaint, according to Variety.
Soon after Morgan's exit, British actress-model, Jameela Jamil tweeted saying she wanted to kill herself after his "relentless campaign of lies and hatred" against her last year.

Shortly after Piers Morgan’s dramatic Good Morning Britain walkout, the ITV breakfast show announced that the anchor will not return to the news program. Celebrating the departure was The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert, who promised UK viewers a more positive experience with Morgan gone.
“Congratulations, tomorrow’s going to be a great morning, Britain,” the late night host quipped, playing on the ITV program’s title.
Following the explosive CBS Meghan Markle-Prince Harry interview conducted by Oprah Winfrey on Sunday, Morgan shared on Monday that he did not believe her remarks about her mental health. The Suits actress revealed on Sunday that her negative experience with British media and the Royal Family caused suicidal thoughts. Following his controversial comments, Morgan’s co-star Alex Beresford challenged the former CNN anchor, causing Morgan to storm off stage.
During his opening segment, Colbert noted that Morgan can’t take the criticism he dishes out.

Piers Morgan is leaving “Good Morning Britain” after fallout from disparaging comments he made about Meghan Markle following her explosive Oprah interview. U.K. channel ITV confirmed the news Tuesday with the following statement: “following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave ‘Good Morning Britain.’ ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
A longtime critic of the Duchess of Sussex, Morgan took to the airwaves Monday to cast doubt on Markle’s confession about the state of her mental health during the height of her and Prince Harry’s conflict with the Royal family. Among other shocking revelations during the couple’s interview with Oprah, which aired on CBS on Sunday night, Markle shared that she had at one point contemplated suicide.

Getting a word in edgewise with Piers Morgan is a feat in and of itself, but South London activist and author Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu held her own during a Good Morning Britain appearance on Monday. While discussing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Oprah Winfrey interview, Shola went toe to toe with Piers, schooling him each and every time he tried to paint Meghan in a negative light. "I think it's piling hurt on the queen, who is already suffering greatly from her husband's illness," Piers stated in response to the timing of the Oprah interview. The hostile reaction Piers immediately resorted to is representative of how the UK media has treated Meghan throughout her time as part of the royal family. Everything is Meghan's fault, and what Meghan does is done with malicious intent; at least so far as the UK media is concerned.

ITV presenter Piers Morgan has quit morning show “Good Morning Britain” after comments he made about Meghan Markle sparked public outcry and triggered an investigation by the U.K.’s media regulator.
The U.K. broadcaster confirmed in a statement on Tuesday evening local time that “following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
Morgan, who began his career as a newspaper journalist and had a stint on CNN hosting “Piers Morgan Live,” started on “Good Morning Britain” in 2015 as a guest host and soon became a permanent fixture alongside co-host Susanna Reid. He also fronts other ITV shows, including “Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.” Variety contacted ITV for comment on whether Morgan will continue presenting the latter interview program, and was told the statement only referred to “Good Morning Britain.

Piers Morgan has sensationally quit Good Morning Britain, the ITV breakfast show he has helped revitalize, after the former CNN anchor said he did not believe Meghan Markle’s mental health issues led to her contemplating suicide.
In a statement on Tuesday evening UK time, ITV announced: “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
It is not clear if Morgan was asked to step down, or whether he made the decision voluntarily. What we do know is that ITV executives have held talks with the presenter in recent hours after taking issue with his Markle comments.
ITV CEO Carolyn McCall faced the media this morning to talk about the company’s 2020 earnings, but was instead grilled about Morgan’s on-air antics. She refused to comment on whether ITV will support or punish Morgan,...

Piers Morgan has come under fire from British media regulator Ofcom for his comments about Meghan Markle on Monday, when the “Good Morning Britain” co-host expressed disbelief that she contemplated suicide.
“We have launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of ‘Good Morning Britain’ under our harm and offence rules. As of 14:00 on Tuesday 9 March, we have received 41,015 complaints about the programme,” the organization said on Tuesday.
During Monday’s “Good Morning Britain,” Morgan went after the Duchess of Sussex, saying, “Who did you go to? What did they say to you? I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report.”

On Monday’s edition of the show, Morgan said he did not believe Markle’s statement about mental health, which she made during her and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, which was broadcast in the U.S. Sunday evening.

Piers Morgan stormed off the set of “Good Morning Britain” on Tuesday after a co-host called his commentary from the previous day on Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, “diabolical.”
“Ok, I’m done with this,” Morgan told co-presenter, Alex Beresford, as he exited. “Sorry. No. Sorry. You can trash me, mate, but not on my own show.”
The walk-off came after Beresford, who is mixed race, objected to Morgan’s “diabolical” dismissal of Markle following her and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey. Morgan called the interview “race-baiting” and said he didn’t believe any of what Markle revealed about her time in the royal family, including that she was mistreated and became suicidal. On Monday’s “Gmb,” he also accused Harry of “spray-gunning” his family on international television while his grandfather is hospitalized.
That, Morgan said, is “disloyal.”

Piers Morgan stormed off the set of Good Morning Britain on March 9 after being called out by co-presenter Alex Beresford for his continued criticism of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. During the episode, Alex spoke about the "overwhelming amount of negative press" the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have received over the years and how this has been "incredibly damaging" to their mental health, which the couple discussed during their recent tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey. He then addressed Piers' commentary on Meghan, specifically. "I understand that you don't like Meghan Markle. You've made it so clear a number of times on this program—a number of times," Alex...

There are some things you just don’t do on British television, and slamming the Royal Family tops the list. But in the course of two momentous hours, an unwritten, invisible code of conduct that quietly permeates most Royal-centric programming in the U.K. came crashing down.
“Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A Primetime Special” aired on “Love Island” broadcaster ITV at 9 p.m. on Monday night, almost a full 24 hours after the CBS broadcast in the U.S. And though the bombshell interview had already detonated across the pond, you couldn’t not watch. At its peak, the program drew a massive 12.3 million in the U.K. It was the interview many in this country have been anticipating — maybe even dreading — for years.
The sit-down would never have been commissioned by a British broadcaster because the Royal Family would have never allowed it. It was always going to come from the U.

ITV CEO Carolyn McCall has said that the UK broadcaster will hold talks with Piers Morgan after the Good Morning Britain presenter said live on-air that he did not believe Meghan Markle had suicidal thoughts.
McCall was asked about Morgan’s behavior several times during a media call for ITV’s 2020 earnings today, and the former EasyJet boss suggested that executives will raise questions about his comments, which have been criticized by a mental health charity.
She has not spoken to Morgan personally, but said Kevin Lygo, ITV’s managing director of media and entertainment, is “dealing with that as we speak.” She would not comment on whether ITV will support or punish Morgan.
Asked if she believes Markle was being genuine about her mental health in an interview with Oprah Winfrey (which was shown on ITV on Monday nigth), McCall said: “I completely believe her when she says that and,...

ITV chief executive Carolyn McCall has revealed that she completely believes Meghan Markle’s statements about her mental health, which is at odds with ITV presenter Piers Morgan’s views on the matter.
Outspoken presenter Morgan, co-host of ITV’s breakfast program “Good Morning Britain,” suggested that he did not believe Markle’s statements during the Monday edition of the show. During the interview, with Oprah Winfrey, Markle said she had felt suicidal at times while being a part of the Royal Family and didn’t receive the support she needed from them despite asking for it. “I don’t believe a word she says,” Morgan said on the show on Monday. “I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report.”
Morgan stormed off set on Tuesday, while “Good Morning Britain” was being broadcast live, after an altercation with weatherman Alex Beresford, who called Morgan’s behaviour “diabolical.

Piers Morgan staged a walkout live on Good Morning Britain after the former CNN presenter was taken to task over remarks he made about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Morgan was challenged by co-star Alex Beresford after he spent Monday morning raging at Markle, prompting a complaint from mental health charity Mind, which raised concerns after Morgan said he did not believe that the Duchess of Sussex had suicidal thoughts.
Calling out Morgan’s “diabolical behavior,” Beresford said: “I’m sorry, but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit there and listen. Six-thirty to seven o’clock yesterday was incredibly hard to watch. Incredibly hard to watch… He has the ability to come in here and talk from a position where he doesn’t fully understand.”
Morgan walked out when Beresford raised the fact that Markle had shunned him in the past.
