Xiaotian Shi is an award winning composer. He has composed for Hollywood feature films, Emmy Award TV Shows and high profile video games. Xiaotian began his music journey at the age of 5 as he started learning the piano, he then soon began composing afterwards. Having attended the Royal College of Music, JD between 2004-2008. Xiaotian then studied composition with Paul Patterson and piano with Rustem Hayroudinoff at the Royal Academy of Music, London under a full scholarship.
Winner of the prestigious Transatlantyk International Film Music Competition in 2013, the competition was judged by high profile composers including Jan Kacsmarek, Marco Beltrami and Robert Townson. Xiaotian has since worked on multiple international high profile projects.
Xiaotian has music featured in over 40 TV shows, 10 international commercials, and is currently completing his 4th full length feature film.
At the age of 17, Xiaotian already worked on an high profile TV Series including composing the end credit and number of tracks for the Emmy Award winning show "Stephen Hawking's Universe". He was also the youngest 1st Prize Winner of the AASO International Composition for Orchestra Competition in 2008, where his orchestral work "Living My Dream" was performed under the baton of David Benoit in LA, performed by leading Hollywood session musicians.
In 2014, Xiaotian worked extensively on Pierce Brosnan's feature thriller "November Man" with the Oscar Nominated composer Marco Beltrami, Xiaotian composed over 40 minutes of music for the film. The soundtrack is released on Varese Sarabande. Xiaotian recently completed his 4th commercial feature film, "Synkhole" starring Andrew Wilson, produced by the LA based Pad Thai Films.
Xiaotian composed numerous international TV commercial campaigns including, Forevermore Diamond "The Promise", Muller "De Luxe" starring Nicole Scherzinger, NBA's Kobe Bryant "Welcome Back", Aquafresh "Captain Aquafresh" for 3 years running, Kinder Chocolate, Branston Chutney, Timotie "Symphony of Oils' and 5 separate commercials for Nestle's 'Pure Life'.
Xiaotian in 2014 became the Fellow in Screen and Media Music Composition at the University of Cambridge, where he lectured and ran the Film Music sessions. University of Cambridge commissioned Xiaotian to compose for the £3 Billion Fundraising Campaign "Dear World". His original score also accompanied the live event. The films feature Stephen Hawking, David Attenborough, Bill Gates, Stephen Fry and many more.
Other use of his music include International Trailers for Roadshow Film's "Oddball", the FX Channel's TV Show Tyrant and Houdini starring Adrien Brody. Bear Griylls' The Island, 15 episodes of WWE of 6 different shows, Oprah Original: In Deep Shift with Jonas Elrod, also 7 episode of NFC Fight Flash Back, Ultimate Insider and Live Event, Discovery Life show Outrageous Births Tales From The Crib - Born on Empty and AMC's Game of Arms. Xiaotian's music was also recently used in over 100 episodes of the No.1 Rated Spanish TV Series Señora Acero.
In May 2016, Xiaotian was awarded as an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music for "significant contribution to the music profession."
