“Top Chef” season 15 ended on March 8, 2018 with host Padma Lakshmi revealing the winner chosen by two renowned chefs — Tom Colicchio and Graham Elliot — and award-winning food writer Gail Simmons. To be showcased on this Emmy-winning show for months on end has boosted the profile of all previous 14 winners of “Top Chef.”
We wanted to know what happened to these 14 folks in the years since they took the title. We did some digging and discovered that some of them are running their own restaurants while others work for established locations or freelance.
In the photo gallery above and the text below, we recap each of the first 14 seasons of “Top Chef,” noting the locations, the judges and other finalists. And we update the resumes of all of the winning chefs.

In the final part of its three-part finale, "Top Chef Boston" came down to the two most winning chefs: Gregory and Mei. Prior to the finale, Mei won or was in the top eight out of 12 challenges. Gregory won or was among the best seven out of 12 times. The shift from Boston to Mexico seemed to trip Mei up, and she nearly went home twice. But when it counted, Mei delivered, and became only the third female winner in 12 seasons of the Bravo show. Mei works for previous "Top Chef" winner Michael Voltaggio, and called him to tell him she won, and when she called him "chef," he corrected her and said, "you're the chef now; you're Top Chef." This season was relatively drama-free but not boring, because there was such consistently strong cooking during the creative challenges. At the very end, Tom Colicchio said he was thrilled with the finalists' "raw talent.

Bravo turns up the heat with their new culinary competition series, “Top Chef Duels,” airing this summer. Celebrity chef, Curtis Stone, will host the new series as well as judge the competing chefs alongside Gail Simmons, Wolfgang Puck and Hugh Acheson. Here's how the competition works: Each week, two chefs will compete in three rounds of intense battles, which will test their skill, creativity and speed. “Top Chef Duels” will take advantage of how well the chefs know each other by allowing them to pick one mini-duel based on the other's weaknesses in the kitchen. They'll battle in a third and final challenge.

Top Chef, the show that proudly proclaims, “Hey, remember when Bravo wasn’t an unwatchable mound of shrieking garbage?” has returned to our televisions for its 11th glorious installment of foie gras, cauliflower foam, trios of lamb, and packing your knives and going.
I admit to being a bit of a latecomer to the Top Chef party. For a time, I was laboring under the pathetic misapprehension that watching a show where contestants are judged on the quality of their food would be pointless without being able to taste the food and evaluate it myself. How dumb of me. That’s entirely beside the point. A well-constructed competition is always fun to watch, even as an outsider. The story and the process are key.
That the audience cannot taste the food, however, does put a greater burden on the judges, and I contend that Top Chef presents the most difficult judging assignment.

In late May, Bravo's "Top Chef" arrived in New Orleans to film its 11th season, premiering on Wednesday, Oct. 2, in a city famed for fun, food and fabulous music. Production wrapped in early July.
But sitting as it does on the Gulf Coast in the Deep South of the U.S., the Big Easy is also known for warm weather -- and the "Top Chef" team could hardly have picked a toastier time of year.
Says judge Gail Simmons, a cook and former food journalist,to Zap2it, "It was incredibly hot outside. It was definitely taxing on our chefs that are cooking and on our production crew, shooting long hours and long days in 100-degree, 100 percent humidity weather. Otherwise, that was a small price to pay to get to do it in New Orleans.
"We mixed it up a lot. We're indoors; we're outdoors. We go into the countryside.

Sure, we were kinda bummed out by all the tributes going on at the Emmys last night (not as bummed as by the deaths themselves, mind you), but to be fair, we’ve been a little morbid ourselves lately. Between the dramatic deaths on Breaking Bad, True Blood, Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey alone, we’ve been spending a lot of our virtual ink here in mourning. That’s why when our own Kate Spencer hit the Emmy red carpet, she asked the stars if they were as shocked as we were by these big departures — and how they’d like their own characters to go out.
“The Red Wedding — are you kidding me?” Veep’s Anna Chlumsky recalled of the Game of Thrones massacre. “I needed the entire evening and the next day to mourn it.”

-- This just might be music to foodies' ears. One of the nation's premier concert promoters is overhauling its concessions to serve only local produce and humanely-raised meats.
Live Nation announced Wednesday that starting this week all produce served at its 38 amphitheaters around the country will be sourced from within about a 100-mile radius of each venue. Additionally, all meats – some 285,000 burgers, 260,000 hot dogs and 280,000 chicken tender meals per year – will carry either Certified Humane, Global Animal Partnership or Animal Welfare Approved certification.
The change will cost the company about an extra $1 million a year, but concertgoers won't see that reflected in food or ticket prices, says Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino. He believes the good will generated by serving better food and supporting local farms will be compensation enough. 'Top Chef Seattle' recap: C.J. Jacobson packs his knives again with Tyler Wiard in double elmination
"Top Chef Seattle" is back with another surprise double elimination -- and this time, no winner.
As the episode opens, we find out it's Stefan Richter's birthday, and he's worried this is the day he'll be kicked off. "When I was competing in New York," he says, "everybody got kicked off on their birthday, and I was like 'birthday curse' -- f**k, no. I don't want to go home on my fortieth birthday."
Forewarning? Hmm ... turns out, not so much.
Quick-Fire Challenge
The cheftestants meet Padma Lakshmi and guest judge, Seattle chef Daisley Gordon at Pike's Place Market. The chefs are told to divide into teams of two, and as usual, some are less than pleased with the chef they've been stuck with. They're told their challenge is to make break fast to go ... on a stick, for 50 of the market's workers. They're given one hour to set...

Last week was a little strange for the cheftestants, and while everyone else thought cooking Thanksgiving was as normal as could be, our teams trying to prove themselves the best chefs around seemed to roll their eyes a bit.
As the seasons have rolled on for Top Chef, and the contestants seem more and more overqualified (if you ask me), the reality television mark that is “who is the crazy contestant?” has popped up more and more on the show. An absolute staple of most reality shows (that aren’t defined by having all crazy participants), Top Chef managed to avoid the nagging doubts that plague viewers of other reality shows for many seasons, but now people are starting to wonder. At least, that’s the way I hear it.

You won't get warm and fuzzy from Hugh Acheson, the debonair Top Chef: Seattle judge who can corrode the cool exterior of any chef with his acidic insights. But outside the realm of Bravo's hit reality series, Acheson is a not-so-secretly nice guy -- born in Ottawa, Canada, it turns out -- whose sheer talent in the kitchen has shot him to the top of the culinary world. He has opened three acclaimed restaurants in Georgia, was named Food & Wine's best new chef in 2002 and was this year's James Beard award winner. Following last week's chat with Tom Colicchio, The Hollywood

It's season 10 of "Top Chef," and we're off to Seattle! Wait, we're not off to Seattle yet. This season we have a twist. Instead of the epic Alamo cook-off of last season, this time the chefs are broken up into groups and sent to work as slave labor at one of the restaurants owned by either Emeril Lagasse, Hugh Acheson, Tom Colicchio or our new judge, Wolfgang Puck. The celebrity chefs will then decide who goes through to compete on the show, and who doesn't. I like this change, as it gives each judge a chance to put at least...

I had issues with "Top Chef" last season -- a lot of issues -- and I wasn't exactly shy about sharing them.
In Texas (my home state, y'all), "Top Chef" turned into a campy, overly staged version of the show I'd loved for eight seasons and several spinoffs. There were too many themes, too many location changes and plenty of product placements to pay for the Texas-sized production budget. The quality of chefs was undeniable, and fellow Texan Paul Qui was the perfect winner, but getting to the finale was an uphill battle for me.

It's probably better known for its coffee, but the largest city in Washington state reveals a thriving food scene in "Top Chef: Seattle," premiering Wednesday, Nov. 7, on Bravo.
"I didn't know very much about Seattle, but I loved how serious everyone was about the food," says host Padma Lakshmi, who also judges the competition along with Tom Colicchio, Hugh Acheson, Emeril Lagasse, Gail Simmons and newcomer Wolfgang Puck. "It's a fantastic food town. Of course, we all know about the amazing seafood: the salmon, the crab, the oysters. By the way, I was not a big oyster eater, but I have become one because of my time in Seattle."

As a person who rarely cooks, I can’t help but admire those who do it for a living. And as much pressure as those pros are under at their respective restaurants, it must pale in comparison to the heat the contestants feel on Bravo’s Top Chef Seattle. It’s the Top Chef Texas Finale, entitled “Finale,” because it is actually, seriously the very last episode of Top Chef Season 9 – no more snowy nonsense, no more Last Chance Redemption Island Of Temptation The Benefactor All-Stars, it’s just Sarah Grueneberg and Paul Qui competing to see who is the better chef: Paul, or Paul and also Bravo made a giant mistake. Sarah kicks things off by declaring “This is the goal I’ve had this entire competition.” She is Locked In. That is also the goal of literally everyone who has ever gone on Top Chef or any competition show. No one’s ever been like, “My goal is to make some friends, cook other peoples’ food, then get eliminated in Week 3 cooking a risotto that represents Daniel Boone’s courage then release a sex tape.” Tom explains that for the final challenge, each chef will design...

It was last-supper time for Paul Qui and Sarah Grueneberg tonight on Top Chef: Texas. The season nine finalists were tasked with the usual challenge: cook the best four-course meal of their careers for a panel of particular palates—and, like last season, restaurants full of people. Paul and Sarah (and four sous chefs apiece) took over the kitchens of Vancouver restaurants Coast and Black & Blue, respectively, to get the job done. As tends to be the case, neither made huge mistakes...But only one was sitting particularly tall in the saddle by night's end. As Hugh Acheson said, any criticisms at this point were just the judges "splitting hairs," but the hairs had to be split in order to...
